I was driving it and all of the sudden it shut down and I couldn't push the breaks and it started to smell like burnt wiring badly and I was in the middle of the road and ended up having to push it on to the side of the road and then leave it were it died for 2 days until finally I got ahold of a tow truck and now its sitting in my drive way dead.

1. The wiring to the headlights keeps burning into and it has been replaced twice already. 2. The radio doesn't come on when I start the car; I have to shut it off and restart it sometimes several times to get everything connected. 3. I have had to have my car aligned 4 times in 9 months and bought 2 sets of tires because it will not keep the alignment. This has been going on for over a year and the radio and lights has been happening for much longer. What can you tell me about these problems?.
Passenger hid light intermittently shuts off. After a period of the vehicle being shut down and restarted the light will come back o but will shut off again after a few minutes. There is an open recall on the wiring harness, but nothing is showing on my particular vehicle for the recall.
Dodge Chrysler (and other auto manufacturers) have soybased wiring installed in the newer cars. This is a safety issue as the soybean based covering on the wires is also a rodent attractant meaning rodents are eating the wiring that connects the abs brake system, fuel pressure system and other sensitive systems. Once the rodents chew completely through the wires the gas will shut off or the brakes will fail thus this will definitely cause an accident of some sort. Can we, the consumers live with this? no it costs us more money in the long run to repair the wiring issue that was caused by the auto manufacturer!!!! what recourse does the consumer have???.

Pdc and ac wiring melted together. Wire harness is part of headlamp to dash harness. Ac will go in and out on it's own. Was told by dealership it requires replacement of pdc and headlamp to dash wiring harness. Pdc and wired should not melt together causing exposed wires.
Headlights and dash randomly flicker and shut off while car is on and while driving. Testing indicates the problem is in the headlight switch or wiring to the switch. When headlight switch removed, headlights are in always on mode, and there is no flickering or shutting off. Headlight switch module has been replaced and still flickers with new switch/knob. Dealer unable to find and fix issue due to intermittent nature of problem. Severe problem when driving and night and lights turn off. Problem also is irritating as it looks like I am flashing my lights at other vehicles.

Several times, the car has stalled while driving. I have had to come to a complete stop, restart the engine and it has gone away. In the last 18 months I have noticed on random occasions, when doing a left turn, it feels like the power steering is no longer working, and this only happens on left turns. Finally, I have some strange electrical issues happening, sometimes my left low beam will work, other days it won't. Now the sound to the speakers have stopped, and then today, I left to go to work, my car won't start, all I have is an illuminated etc light and nothing. I have tried getting Dodge to look at it repeatedly, it is clearly a wiring electrical fault, they keep telling me nothing is under real, and I keep putting money after money into the car, and I think its going to get me hurt one day.

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. While driving approximately 30 mph, the passenger side headlight went out without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness melted and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was 68,224.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the low beams failed to function and shorted out without warning. The dealer replaced the lights, but the low beams shorted out again. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the low beams were replaced again, along with the wiring and wiring harness. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 12v197000 (service brakes, air, electrical system) and 12v042000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system, exterior lighting) although the failures were identical. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The contact was uncertain if replacing the parts with the same oem parts would correct the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 79,097.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. While the vehicle was at the dealer for a safety inspection, it was diagnosed that the front passenger side seat sensor and the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v118000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,600.
Currently having an ongoing issue with the abs and traction control lights. The vehicle is in the shop for the second time in less than 2 months for the same lights. Twice I was driving down the road, the brake pedal would do something funny and the those lights would come on. The second time(currently and occurred on June 4th) the airbag warning light came on as well. The first time the abs and traction light came on, I was told it was a abs sensor, and I paid the dealership $250. 00. This time less than 2 months later, the dealership is saying it is yet another sensor causing those lights to illuminate. And as far as the airbag goes, it's faulty wiring and that it needed another wiring harness. These repairs would cost me over $600. 00. I have two friends that have the same vehicle and are having the exact same problems with the abs and traction control lights. This seems to be a overall Dodge issue as far as the Chargers go.
There is a recall for 2011 Dodge Chargers concerning a wiring harness that effects the low beam headlights. For some reason, only certain models were included in the recall. My model (r/t) is not included in the recall but I'm having the exact same problem that is listed in the recall. The recall number is po8.
We bought our car new, it has been at the Dodge dealer for repairs for the same things over and over for 6 months total time in shop. 1. The battery saver mode comes on, and then the steering gets hard, the alt. Has been replace, extra wiring added to add more grounds. This affects the way the car drives. When the battery saver mode is on the power steering stops working or works less. The power steering pump and rack and pinion has been replaced twice. This problem happens every day, in town or on the freeway. 2. The radio keeps shorting out, it's been replaced 3 times. This happens daily, it quits, blew out the speakers, navagtion stopped working. 3. The heater keeps getting stuck on either 100% hot or 100% a/c on cold. Settings will not change. Controls have been replaced 3 times, the heat/cold door motor was replace twice. The car has spent 185 days in service this year. When they give the car back it acts up in about 5 mins. The car is going back in for the radio and battery saver mode and steering on Monday. I picked the car up Friday and it failed less than a mile from the dealership.

Mil light came on starting flashes lost power while I'm driving took it the dealership they can't find what's wrong . . . Light will go away and come back repeat the same exact thing . . . Both fog lights are completely out change the bulbs still out have to be wiring over heating.
On August 2nd, 2015 at approximatly 2:30pm while backing out of my driveway onto a busy street when I placed my car in reverse I observed my backup camera not to be functioning and showing a black screen. I attempted multiple times taking the car out of gear and than placing it back in reverse again with no effect. I then shut the vehicle off and turned it back on then placing the car in reverse. A black screen still showed but the text stating "check surrounding areas" popped up on the top of the screen (still no image showing). I notified the dealer immediately and took it in for them to take a quick look before closing. Technician informed me he could not find any codes, and that all wiring and connections appeared to be fine but told me to make an appointment. I made an appointment for the following Monday. When I went to leave the dealer that Saturday I placed my car in reverse and the camera was functioning fine (haven't had an issue since). I I dropped my car off Sunday night and the dealer had it Monday & Tuesday and could not replicate the issue. The item was not replaced under warranty and Dodge is basically informing me that a intermittent issue is fine.
When I turn on my turn signals the windshield wipers go on! this happens 2 to 3 times I put the turn signal on then does not do it next time and then again the next 3 times I use the turn signals. Mostly happening with left turn signal. The wipers do not stop until you turn off the turn signal. Something must be wrong with the electrical wiring or switch.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the air bag warning lights remained illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. However, after the repair the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage 30,000. Ne.
I was sent a safety recall notice in may 2014. I called the gurnee Dodge dealer I may to schedule the appointment and make sure they had the parts. First they told me that my car didn't need to be repaired. Then they said they would call me when the parts came in. I have been calling and they have been blowing me off. My car still has not been repaired. There is a defect with the headlight wiring.
Cpsc: i1440340a. 2011 Dodge Charger. Consumer stated she took her car in for recall work on the wiring harness for the air bag. The consumer expected to have other recalls performed. However, the dealer informed her, those recalls were restricted to police vehicles. The low beam headlights and abs were not operational.
On approximately 4/16/2014 while driving my girlfriend attempted to use the seat heater on the front passenger side. When pressing the button on the 8. 4 inch screen we were able to hear a click and then the function which as illuminated on the screen turned off. She tried multiple times but the heated seat would not stay on. I had the dealership look up this issue and the following was found: "cs - b1eb2 - 1b r/f seat heater sensor-circuit resistance above threshold, inspected heated seat module connector and heated seat pad connector looks ok, checked for short to voltage circuit p688 ok, checked continuity from module to cushion pad connector circuit p688 no continuity, checked short to ground, circuit is shorted to ground, removed seat inspected wiring, found wiring got rub thru on seat frame. Inspected heat seat cushion pad sensor, found heated seat pad sensor internal failure ordered seat cushion, repair circuit p688, cleared dtcs and check if heated seat is working, seat is still not working, r/f seat is reading that its -40 degrees. Removed seat and replaced passenger front cushion heated element and verify repair". So I was driving around with a heated set where the ground wire rubbed through on the seat frame. Luckily their was fire in the vehicle due to my girlfriend repeatedly pushing the button in an attempted to get the seat to work.
Wiring harness of headlight overheated and caused harness to melt. I have no headlights. Took car to bob allen in frankfort and they informed that there is a recall for this issue but my car is not included in the recall and there is nothing that they will do. Yet this is a safty hazard and it should be fixed at no cost since they are having this issue with other cars.
The airbag light in my Charger kept coming on and staying on. When I took it to the dealer they said the error code was coming from the seat airbag sensors and they would need to be replaced. Apparently my Charger was manufactured in January of 2011 and was not included in the recall for this exact same problem because the recall was only for those manufactured starting in April. The exact same part that was found to be defective in these other Chargers was the same as mine, but they would not repair it under the recall. After they fixed that the airbag light was still on and this time I was told that it was coming from the passanger airbag underneath the dash. Again the same problem with the airbag wiring and harness, and again it was not covered under any type of warranty.
Driver side low beam light went out. Tried replacing the bulb, which was much more difficult than anticipated so, decided to take it to the Dodge dealer I purchased the car from. Received a call from the service department only to be told that it was not the bulb but was the entire wiring mechanism and the wires had "melted". I have been a loyal Dodge customer for many year, despite many difficulties with other Dodge models. Most recent, this headlight issue, not covered under any recall (even after reading all these complaints) and I am over my 36,000 mile warranty, I am extremely disappointed in Chrysler! not only because of the cost of this repair, but now I worry that if the heat is enough to melt the wires, what happens the next time I am driving and the wires actually catch fire? guess Chrysler will issue a recall once someone is severely injured or worse case dead because of this issue!.
Noticed that the passenger side low beam headlamp was not lighting. Installed a new lamp with the same current and power specs. With less than 4 hours on the new lamp it also failed to light. Removed the lamp and found the connector shell/housing charred and brittle. Contacts on one side of the connector and both the original and replacement lamps were discolored by intense heat. Evidently, the connector contact was not providing a solid connection with the lamp terminals, and the high resistance connection resulted in overheating and melting of the connector, a dealer service advisor informed me that this is a known, ongoing problem for which the solution is to replace the entire wiring harness at the owner's expense. Research indicated that the problem has been acknowledged by Chrysler, but only police vehicles have been recalled. To avoid spending hundreds of dollars to have the entire harness replaced, the original connector has been removed and a replacement connector installed. Whether "new" harnesses installed to fix the problem use the same inadequate connectors is unknown.
Got pulled over by police for having right front headlight out. Did some research and found that this was a common problem with the wiring harness. Sure enough, when I wiggled the wire, the light came on, so the bulb is good but the wiring is bad. Seems this is a common problem, Dodge should be taking care of this.
Driving home from school when I smelled hot what seemed to be wire coating melting. The passenger light went out, so I found a parts store and purchased a new light put it in saw that the wiring connector to the light was black and crispy, took note, one day later the bulb went out again, this time I opened the hood looked at the light and it was burned to a crisp, took the bulb out and the wire connection was melted beyond repair and the light casing was completely burned out. The wire connection had bare wire melted outer insulation was melted right off of the wire. I took the bulb out and started looking at why. I am not happy to see the issue, I have had my new to me car for only a month, will this be an expensive fix or will Dodge help fix it ?.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver side headlight intermittently failed. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.
Backing out of the driveway and noticed driver side low beam was out. Took it to the dealership and they told me to replace the bulb. Bought the bulb and approx. 4 days later low beam was out again along with the a/c going in and out. Took it back and was told this time that it was faulty wiring in the harness and needed to be replaced because it had melted, which is the same issue that was repaired in June 2012 due to the recall. Replaced the harness and on the same day of payment and retrieving the car, the passenger side fog light was out. Obviously by this point I was extremely disappointed with this problem as this was the 4th visit. Took it back a 5th time for the fog light. They replaced the bulb and after 2 days the other fog light shorted out. Absolutely fed up with the problem I decided to take the car to a different Dodge dealership. Upon diagnostic I'm told that my power distribution center is melted and fuses are cracked hence the problem with the a/c and fog lights shorting out. I've researched the problems I'm having with the car only to find out that it is a common theme amongst the same year model of my car and was even told by the dealership that the problems were only recalled in police vehicles under code m01. I was also told that if the problem isn't fixed it could lead to the vehicle being completely unable to start. After dealing with headquarters and 2 dealerships I'm being told that I'm out of warranty at 55,000 miles and the repair is $984. The dealer came back with a goodwill offer of $500 that is only valid for 30 days. To me this is an admission of guilt yet they still do not want to repair and I'm left driving in an unsafe vehicle. Corporate Chrysler told me that the problems I'm having do fit the parameters of recall m01 but since my vehicle is not on the list, I cannot be helped. What does that tell you?.
Right low beam has gone out three times over the past three months. After further review of the wiring connector that holds the bulb, the connector is melted and will no longer illuminate a bulb. After calling Chrysler's recall to inquire as to if they will fix the issue, because there is a similar recall for the police only models, I was told no. I will have to pay out of pocket to have the entire harness and wiring replaced. This is a design defect that Chrysler/Dodge will not take responsibility for. Due to the headlight being out, I can barely drive my car. I am unable to drive my car at night for fear of having no visibility or a collision. The recall that was sent was m01, however Chrysler states that this recall is only applicable to 2011-2012 police vehicles.
2012 Dodge Charger low beam headlight on the driver side continues to go out. I have a melted/fried harness and exposed wiring. Has been going out for several months. I have to replace bulbs continuously both oem and after market bulbs. There are other owners experiencing the same issue, especially on the driver side. There is a recall for the police version, but none for the se models, however, the issues seem to be the same. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler. Visiting the dealer tomorrow to attempt remedy.
Driver-side low beam bulb appeared to be burned out - took to dealer and they found the wiring harness was burned (just as described in recall m05 for police vehicles) and had to be replaced. I really wish they had replaced both sides since they had it all apart (have to take bumper off to get to headlights which is another sad story) - they covered this fix but only because I had vehicle on extended warranty this should be a passenger vehicle recall too. Now I have to wait around for it to happen to passenger- side (or to driver side again, since cause of harness melting seems likely to be something deeper than just the harness/wiring itself - voltage regulation or ??? I don't know, but replacing it with the exact same part doesn't seem like a permanent solution).
Low beam headlight on the driver side is out. I took my vehicle to my local dealership to find out they had 4 Dodge charges in on that very same day due to the same issue. I was advised it may not be the bulb but the harness and wiring. The service department confirmed it was the harness and wires. He showed me the fried wires and advised there is a recall for the 2011 Chargers for the very same issue but it's only for police vehicles. If the product is bad or improperly put together the recall should be for everyone not only for police vehicles. I have seen other complaints regarding this same issue and some people have documented that this issue has caused fires in their vehicles due to faulty wiring. This should be a safety issue for everyone. Please make this a recall for all vehicles not only for police vehicles.
Passenger side headlight wiring harness shorted and melted headlight wiring harness causing smoke and excessive heat, if left the vehicle would have caught fire.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, both headlights malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician diagnosed that the headlight jumper harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 12v042000 (electrical system:wiring). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 39,900 and the current mileage was 39,972.
