10 Ignition Switch problem of the 2008 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/10/2017

While driving the air bag light came on and the a/c went out. I called a dealership to see what the issue could be and they said bring it in it could be as simple as a fuse. Then I googled the issue and saw which fuses and changed them but it didn't work. I know there was a recall on the airbags and since the issue started when that light came on I wanted to try getting that fixed first and maybe that would solve the issue (since the a/c and airbags are around the same area). I take the car in. They fix 1 air bag (no parts for passenger side) and the ignition switch. Still no air/heat/defrost. I pay $121 for a diagnosis of ,start with replacing the tipm (no guarantee that will fix the issue or that it's a permanent fix) since the ac is not getting power and ground.

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

Note as an advisory that Dodge/Chrysler/fiat may still have ignition problems related to the federal/Chrysler safety recall for fob/ignition switch failure of not returning to run position after trying to start vehicle. I just had my 2008 Dodge Charger 80,635mi serviced for the ignition recall service # p57/NHTSA 14v-567 of which took 13 months before repairs were made, and after the new switch and new fob's were returned to me (installed of course) fob's are of Chrysler and not Dodge (no safety issue because of names are different) but after only having my car for just 2 days of being returned to me, the "new" ignition switch now is defective with the same problem as before, and just in one day itself, just starting the car up, the "return to run position" had failed (4) four times, and just yesterday 01-16-16 twice when ignition is returned to the off position, I was unable to remove the fob from the ignition switch until restarting the car then shut it down again. . . Chrysler/Dodge & fiat n. A. U. S. A. As well with the NHTSA should look into this as a reoccurring problem before it is to late. . . I had spent 5 years with the original ignition begin broken, and Dodge and dealers cared less of my emails about the failure. I have also advised the local Dodge dealer/service dept of the problem the day of the situation and will seek replacement or further actions that will be taken for repairs. . Chrysler/Dodge corporation will also be notified, and I will try and post new developments as they happen. . .

The other times I was on level roadway when car engine stalled and required restarting. The most recent incident happened 11/17/15 and the car engine stalled 2 times in one day at a speed of 45 mph. When turning the key to the right to start the vehicle it tends to hang up and get stuck in that position. I found that a recall was done on certain 2008 Dodge Chargers regarding ignition switch problems so I called to see if my vehicle was included in the recall. It is not included - this is a very dangerous problem and I travel a major interstate daily. I would like to have my vehicle included in the recall for the faulty ignition switch. This incident has happened 3 times in the last 6 weeks. My car is on the recall list with Dodge since last November, but they have yet to get the parts in to fix it. I am very upset that they haven't been able to get parts in to fix what could be a catastrophic and deadly problem in the last 7 months. Can someone please put some pressure on Dodge to either get my car fixed or get me a safe car to drive in the meantime? my life, and potentially my family's life could depend on it.

29 Ignition Switch problem of the 2008 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

I started having issues starting my car a few years ago (approximately 2), the key would turn but it wouldn't start unless I moved the key either up, down, or to the sides. Dodge finally replaced the part ( I can't think of the name but it was on back order). I started having the same problem less than 6 months later and the part was replaced again. Earlier this year, approximately late January, I received the recall notice for the ignition switch and called Dodge. They said the part was on back order and they weren't sure when they would receive the part. Since then, I have lost the lighting on my dash for the headlights and air-conditioning/heating dials. This occurred when I started my car and it suddenly turned off. I called in regards to finally having the lighting fixed today and that part was on national back order. The biggest problem, is the ignition switch, I have trouble starting the car, some days worse than others. I also have to check the key by tapping it when it's started to make sure it's in the "run" position. A handful of times I've tapped it and the key has turned back to the left, killing the car. Thankfully I've been parked every time. I've called Dodge about this recall and they still have yet to receive the part and have not been told a definite date as to when they will receive the part. This issue is not only frustrating it's dangerous for me and anyone else on the road. I'm tired of calling Dodge only to hear every part I need is on backorder. I truly don't believe the car I'm driving is safe anymore regardless of what the recall letter states. I think Dodge is an awful company who has horrible customer service and leaves the local dealerships with their hands tied. I truly believe they are only days away from a lawsuit.
