1 Steering Column problem of the 2009 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/28/2020

I have been chasing a abs/eps light issue since the dealership did an airbag recall. Replaced all wheel sensors, rotors, brake pads, calipers and finally returned to the dealership for them to replace the angle sensor. 5 minutes after leaving the light came back on. Returned and they said the steering column measured 37mm instead of 34mm. This item has never been replaced or damaged and without replacing this item then I'm being told this sensor will continue to be an issue. This vehicle is not my daily driver because I have been concerned on safety issues. Now I know it was a manufacture issue. Chrysler refuses to help me because they stated the dealer has not determined this to be a manufacturer defect. In 2010 and 2012 this issues has come up in the media and the manufacturer was placed on notice but failed to recall because not enough cases were located.

4 Steering Column problem of the 2014 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 05/02/2019

I have owned the car for a little over a year, since then I have had the steering wheel and the steering wheel rod/column completely come out in my lap. . Once while driving. I have already had it fixed by my certified preowned warranty and once again it has done it. This time it took off my windshield wiper lever, it has completely destroyed my interior and unfortunately the warranty did not cover that which is not fair. Remember the steering wheel column and rod is very heavy and does much damage when it falls in your lap while driving. I have been the only owner, it has never been in an accident, I have only serviced and bought it from a Dodge dealership. The car now has 69,000 miles and recently was fixed over a month ago and issue still remains. My car was in the shop for over 20 days I did not get a rental vehicle and it was the most pain I've ever experienced when it comes to dealing with warrantees and dealerships I have ever experienced in my life. This needs to be addressed or I will take other matters. I have been the only owner, it has never been in an accident, I have only serviced and bought it from a Dodge dealership. According to the state of colorado the lemon law will be in effect if the car is in shop for the same repair over 30 days and I am willing to hire a lawyer and make this process happen. And now the cruise control does not work.

5 Steering Column problem of the 2013 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 09/22/2018

I was driving home and stopped to allow another car to turn in front of me, I flashed my lights once to alert the other drive to go and my windshield wipers came on at a high speed. I tried to turn them off and they would not stop, I turned the wiper switch backwards and forward and they still would not turn off. I had to drive home (in broad sunny daylight) with the wipers going very fast on dry glass! very annoying and upsetting - with no warning. When I arrived home, I turned the car off and back on and the wipers were still going. I contacted the nearest Dodge dealership and they asked me to come there. I had to drive to them from my home about 10 miles to dealership with the wipers still going on dry windshield (very embarrassing and upsetting). Once I arrived at the dealership the only way they could get them to turn off/stop, was to remove the fuse from the box that controls the wipers. I checked to see if there was a recall or some type of warning I should have noticed prior and there was nothing! this is a huge problem. My husband and I have not had any other problems with this vehicle since we bought it 5 years ago. We maintain servicing and take very good care of our vehicles. I'm very disturbed that this is not something that we should have been made aware of. Is there anyone else that has had this problem? now we are being told that it's the steering column module? and its about $800 to repair! that's ridiculous!.

8 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/18/2016

Driving a 2007 Dodge Charger with about 21k miles. Yesterday, while driving in town, I took a right turn and while navigating the turn with the signal on, I heard a loud plastic-on-plastic popping and creaking noise. When the turn signal went off, there was a loud pop and the left signal turned on!! now, when I turn right I hear clicking from the wheel/column and when the signal cancels it does it so hard that it activates the turn signal of the opposite direction. I¿m sure the other drivers on the road believe I¿m confused which way I¿m going ¿ I¿m so glad it didn¿t cause an accident! so the turn signal in the steering wheel makes a plastic 'popping' noise, and is making it difficult to steer on a turn. The dealer said it's the clockspring. Numerous posts on forums mention the same issue. There's been a recall on Chrysler/Dodge minivans in the early 2000's for the same issue (clockspring). . . . But not one for this vehicle! a problem like this appears to be a 'cheap' plastic part failing - I have 21k miles on this car (but obviously past the 3-yr warranty). . . Parts should * fail at 21k miles!.

12 Steering Column problem of the 2012 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

We were driving and the abs and skid lights illuminated on the dash, all the function lights illuminated the steering column locked and the car just halted and stalled. Everything was dead, unable to start and the wipers were going. The wipers were never turned on but kept running despite the car being "dead" wipers in off position . Towed home and then to dealership (dealership has no off hour gate access) told (2) days later the battery was dead on a 2 yr old vehicle, then I received a second call stating the alternator was the culprit. The alternator needs replacement, and no one can explain the rhyme or reason why it needs to be replaced on a 2yr old vehicle. The vehicle also has automatic push start and will not work sometimes unless the remoteless key is pressed to start the vehicle on the start-button (instead of pressing with finger, use the remote less entry- I was told this resets the reading- having to do this once/twice a month).

14 Steering Column problem of the 2008 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 05/06/2013

1 solution 2008 Dodge Charger the esp/bas light comes on when I make a left turn and stays on for a while and the resets. This is a re-occurring issue. Was told by Dodge that steering column may have to be repaired. (was this a recall for Dodge?). The car seems to be difficult to steer due to the car being very "loose" and feels as if the car is not aligned but recently had new alignment done. Also, left rear driver's side door lock will not work. The window works fine but the door lock has stopped functioning. Have had issues with rotors since I purchased the car with only 17 miles on it. Rotors replaced several times and was even told that the rotors were warped in factor installation.

17 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 07/15/2010

I have a 2007 Dodge Charger. On three different occasions within the past eight months, my steering column has locked up while making a left turn. This occurred twice while attempting to turn onto a very busy highway. In the very first incident the column not only locked up, but the car went off also. I had to place my foot on the brake hurriedly, shift to park, and restart the car to unlock the column. On the second occasion the steering column locked up causing me to do the same routine again. The third time it happen was in a parking lot so it wasn't as scary. Please look into this matter.
