My 2006 Dodge Charger stalls after refueling, and now stutters when driving as if not getting fuel. I have noticed when attempting to break and stopping at stops this is happening more often. The car shuts down and could cause a accident. After researching this issue I found that this has been addressed already under investigation number pe13-016 by the NHTSA.

At aproximately 39000 miles, whie driving down the road the electric power steering / rack and pinion died. The wheel froze up and was very hard to turn. I was lucky I was not going fast. It cost me 3900. 00 for a new r&p on a fairly new car at the time. I have also been through 3 drive shaft bearings in 100,000 miles. Dodge should be sued, so many other reports of these items going. . . These are expensive safety issues that shat shoud be covered by the mfgr.
Rack and pinion needs to be replaced.

While driving the vehicle the steering became very difficult, to the point I could not control my car and had to pull over. The steering seem to have locked up while driving. I had it towed to auto repair shop which I was advised I had to change the power steering pump. That's not in my budget.
The contact owns a 2021 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph and making a left turn, the power steering failed to operate properly, causing the steering wheel to become difficult to turn in either direction. The electric steering rack failed. I was turning into a parking lot and suddenly there was no power steering. Luckily I had both hands on the wheel and was able to avoid an accident. A dash light came on at that time related to steering. My mechanic was able to pull the code. I was able to drive home. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I have the eps unit right now - but it is a core and I have 14 days to return. Please let me know ASAP if you want me to keep it. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? sudden loss of power steering without advanced notice. Old cars with power steering often make a "noise" prior to failure. Electric power steering like on my car doesn't provide advanced notice of issues. Also, failures of power steering at 57k miles are rare. But Dodge (Chrysler) have had prior NHTSA issues and recalls prior with eps. Also, it seems like this may be a common issue - as there are almost no new parts available, no reman/aftermarket parts, and very difficult to find used. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no - out of warranty were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? nothing prior - but warning light after eps failure.
Vehicle was diagnosed as needing a new drive shaft I see a recall for 2016 Dodger Chargers how do we have this covered?.
Service power steering warning comes on, causes my gauge cluster to go blank & dark, I lose a/c, power steering, headlights work intermittently, blinkers & all steering wheel button options stop working, and my transmission will start downshifting shifting erratically. It downshifts so hard I'm afraid I'll lose control of my car. Yesterday I had a message pop up saying it was going into power saving mode. When the power steering warning is on, my a/c will have half the vents blowing cold air, the other half blowing hot heater air. During the winter my heated seats only worked intermittently. All of these issues are related to the past recalls on my car that were supposedly fixed; however, the problems are still occurring. Can somebody please contact me about these recalls and tell me what I should do? thank you!.

I was driving on interstate 15 north when suddenly my power steering stopped working. I was unable to adequately turn the steering wheel to switch lanes while I was moving 65mph. The light "service power steering" started blinking and I was virtually unable to turn my steering wheel left or right. I was stuck in a life-threatening situation. I immediately had to put my hazard lights on, brake, and fight for my life to try to turn the steering wheel so I could pull over. I almost impacted the barrier and several drivers during this. My mechanic states that my power steering pump failed, without any known cause.
Ac still smells meldo thru the vents fixed it last year or so still issues steering makes piping noise when backing up to the right.

I didn’t own the vehicle when incidents occurred.
The power steering goes in and out completely loosing power steering while maneuvering a curve in the road it completely stops or if it's already out it will come back on while steering so your giving a lot of force then suddenly you have power steraing again you harshly turn to almost swerve off the road or towards traffic.
As I was driving getting ready to make a turn I suddenly lost control of my car. The steering wheel became stiff and was unable to move it ultimately causing me to crash, Dodge/Chrysler needs to get there stuff together and do something about this, this is ridiculous, would not recommend buying anything involved with the brand whatsoever.
Instrument cluster and radio “monitor “stopped displaying vehicle information causing everything to disrupt driving while driving in traffic. Steering was swaying and difficult to drive. There was a recall # safety recall v32/NHTSA 19v-203 for the same problem so it now has the same issues.
When I purchased the car it had been used as a police car in the state of mississippi. So after I bought the car I checked for any recalls and found it to have 2 open recalls. 1 was a passenger side airbag and the other was the alternator. So I contacted moss motor company in south pittsburg tennessee and they agreed to do the recalls. After they had finished installing the air bag they told me the alternator wasn't required for change out because the part number listed on it wasn't warranted. So I did some investigating and found my part number to be 7030. The part numbers not required for change out is 7051-7031-and 7170. . It's listed under the NHTSA s68/16v-739 recall. Since I've had the car I have had blinking headlight issues. . I have a little bit of automobile knowledge and I knew it had to be a grounding problem or a alternator problem. So I even added a couple of grounds from the engine to the chassis with no improvement. So I contacted a good friend of mine whom is a retired Dodge Chrysler master technician and he agreed to check my alternator for fluctuating amperage. He placed a device around the lead wire coming from the alternator to the battery and when he did the needle was constantly fluctuating very rapidly probably 2/3 across the entire dial. So there is no question whatsoever the alternator is the source of the problem. There's one more issue I would like to report. When I carried my car in for the recalls to be performed the technician didn't even bother to raise the hood of the car to check the part number on the alternator. . The reason I know this is because he didn't take my car to the shop area, he pulled my car in front of the high bay doors and installed the passenger side airbag. . I did witness this. . But not 1 time did I see him raise the hood. It took me a 30x magnifying glass and a flashlight to take the photo clearly showing the part number on my current alternator that was supposed to be changed. Photo attached is part number.
Door locks getting stuck front two doors only. Steering wheel trembling while driving on road. All panels front dash side doors and middle section un attaching. Topp roof of inside is also coming off. Hood paint is peeling right side of hood.
Dodge Charger 2014 bought it on 2015 no used was great when we got. But it's been 8 yrs now and having lots big problems that are defected from the manufactuer company. Lock door they do not open or close due to the intiror of the doors are detaching from the front wth th key less remote. Most of all the dashboard is unpleeing from top of the dash and doors mide section. Steering is bounching while driving on somewhat uneven road here in the city. Paint starting to peel on the hood. I belive that it is a safty hassared due to in emergency to get in or out of the car will not be able to get out. The steering has a big problem that. Had a accedent6 on 2017 my air bags did not deploy it was head onto arock wall fence.
Power steering locks up, power steering fuses have blown three times in less than three months and there are thumping noises and vibrations when making turns.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers inadvertently increased speed and the cruise control accelerated the vehicle to over 100 mph. The contact stated that the electronic braking system and power steering failed. The contact then pulled the neutral override feature to stop the vehicle. The contact then restarted the vehicle and proceeded to his destination. There were numerous unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who was unable to diagnose and determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,500.

When making a right turn at approximately 5 miles per hour the front driver side suspension arm failed catastrophically causing the wheel, brake assembly, part of the suspension arm, and a small part of the frame of the vehicle to break off and roll approximately 75 feet into traffic. This also caused my break system to fail entirely. The week of the incident the vehicle had been driven approximately 120 miles under conditions that would be considered normal for the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated and there were no sounds or signs that failure was imminent. Vehicle is pending inspection from insurance company. Photos available upon request, parts available for inspection upon request.
Intermittent disabling of the steering system resulting in multiple lights (abs, etc. ) and steering locking up with the car in gear with no prior indication of an issue and no warning light or message prior to failure then today this happened along with delayed start and the power steering system fail message presented so g with the car steering locking up and the car becoming immovable while in gear. This followed by the car not starting at all and remaining immovable requiring a rollback tow.
The steering on this vehicle randomly becomes hard to steer during driving. This is very dangerous and the problem should not be occurring in these vehicles so soon. It's electrical power steering, so it's not an easy fix and can really cause accidents with the way it comes and goes while driving.
Vehicle sat idling for approximately 20 minutes and when starting to drive there was no assist to the power steering. Drove approximately 2 miles without power assist and turned off engine for 1 hour, restarted engine and power assist worked. Afraid to drive it and have power assist fail while driving.
The vehicles first issue I had was about a month of owning the vehicle , with the uconnect infotainment system not wanting to turn off or on and being frozen with only showing a still image of the back camera. I fixed it after I disconnected the battery for about 2 minutes. Then I had a transmission problem which needed servicing not even a year into owning the vehicle. I had to go to the service center to have part replaced, took about a month to get replaced due to back order. Then in June of 2021 the car wouldn't go in reverse or drive. As if the emergency brake was on and wouldn't budge. Had to tow the car to the dealership and leave overnight. When the car was dropped off at the dealership it had to be shaken off the tow bed. Was called to come pick the care up the next day because "no issues were found and car is functioning properly". Now in April of 2022 the steering wheel makes a grinding sound as if it's chewing rocks inside. When it was taken to the dealership was advised the steering column would need to be replaced and the part would be available in the first week of may. When I called to follow up, they advised it would be in may 12th. I called to confirm if that was true and was told the part would now come may 26th. Called again and part won't be available until June 9th. When making turns in vehicle steering wheel sticks and power steering is disabled. Feels like I'm going to crash or flip the vehicle.
Almost caused a accident because coming to a fast braking my wheels were uncontrollable and swerving .
There’s multiple issues I’ve had with this car since day one. One of them almost causing a crash on the interstate going 70mph. The car shut down though the lights remained on and the message service esc electronic stability control came on, service awd system, service electric power steering, service brake system and at the time I just left a certified Dodge dealership where they did a “” flash recall on the engines computer. Me and my infant child were stranded for over 5 hours until the car decided it would start back. This power loss caused the power steering to lock up and no movement besides me coasting to get over into the emergency lane on the interstate almost being hit by multiple vehicles. The service esc came on numerous times since then and still keeps coming on and Dodge says it’s nothing and clears the codes. The drive shaft bolts backed out and caused my drive shaft to snap in half costing me over $1700. 00. The sec system never works properly it stays stuck in awd mode and seldomly goes in rwd mode. When turning traction control off it automatically kicks into awd not sure if that’s suppose to happen but makes no sense if so. Also the turn signal switch on the steering column is faulty causing the wipers to come on any time you use the turn signal or turn the wheel to make a turn in the vehicle. That has caused me to almost wreck more times then I can count. This car and this cars year make and model definitely has a lot of safety issues and should be investigated by the manufacturer. On the date below I checked February 22, 2022 due to this issue being persistent I can look for the old invoices where I had to replace my drive shaft if needed just email me.
Service shifter error and powerstwering warning light turned on.
