The steering started grabbing and sqealing around 81k miles when I turn. Sometimes it would become very hard to control when slowing down to turn such as at red lights or in a drive thru. No lights or sensors ever came on. From what I have read online there are several 2013 Dodge Chargers with the same issue. This is very dangerous and expensive to have repaired. I opted to have it fixed but I feel this issue should be looked into. I had the gear rack and pinion and power pump replaced.

My issue with the vehicle is the rack and pinion locking up on me when I turn left. I took it into Dodge and they didn't want to do anything with it because the problem wasn't happening at the time that it was brought into the shop, this was when I had warranty that I paid extra for and everything. After it got worse, I lost control of it making a left and I hit a curb, which caused me to have to get a new tire. As I am driving to class or work, I go to make my regular left and my car keeps locking up as I turn so I have to force it out of the left turn. I would get the problem fixed, but the issue with this is that it is over $1000 to get fixed. Now my mother drives my car sometimes, and she has a problem with driving my car because of this, so she does not drive it anymore. This issue could be a problem for someone else because it can lock up and cause a bad accident, kill or seriously injure someone. This problem should not be happening considering how new the vehicle is and I think they should be investigate because they didn't fix it during warranty because the issue was not consistent. Based on forums, I also see other people have a similar problem. Now it is every time I turn on the car it locks up when I turn left, it is very unsafe.
We bought our car new, it has been at the Dodge dealer for repairs for the same things over and over for 6 months total time in shop. 1. The battery saver mode comes on, and then the steering gets hard, the alt. Has been replace, extra wiring added to add more grounds. This affects the way the car drives. When the battery saver mode is on the power steering stops working or works less. The power steering pump and rack and pinion has been replaced twice. This problem happens every day, in town or on the freeway. 2. The radio keeps shorting out, it's been replaced 3 times. This happens daily, it quits, blew out the speakers, navagtion stopped working. 3. The heater keeps getting stuck on either 100% hot or 100% a/c on cold. Settings will not change. Controls have been replaced 3 times, the heat/cold door motor was replace twice. The car has spent 185 days in service this year. When they give the car back it acts up in about 5 mins. The car is going back in for the radio and battery saver mode and steering on Monday. I picked the car up Friday and it failed less than a mile from the dealership.

The vehicle has binding in the rack and pinion called Dodge said that they would help me fix it but then in the end the decided that I was negligent and its was my fault. The steering wheel can possibly get stuck in place and cause death or even injury.
