Brakes are out of round, and vehicle vibrates real hard. Hard to handle, and hard to stop. Dealer feels that consumer is hitting brakes too hard, and may be abusing them. Consumer went through this once before with rear brakes, and then with front brakes.
While driving stepped on brakes pedal but brakes would not activate. Would have to step harder to make brakes work. But, at times could not stop, and once rear ended another vehicle that stopped. Currently, there was manufacturer's recall 891.
Dealer has had an independent company check the problem and did work to the brakes changing the original situation to appear that they were in better working condition without the knowledge of the independent company. The brakes are still unsafe.
Front rotors are warping on a regular basis. Rotors were replaced at 18000/40000/47000/57000. Currently at 59000 miles, rotors need replacement again. Consumer states the front and rear brakes were replaced this time, vehicle has 68000 miles and it feels as if the front brakes are hanging up, there is a lot of brake dust on the rims and rotors, in the winter time the brakes would lock up and cause the vehicle to skid.
My Dodge Dakota sport 4x4 4. 7ltr v-8's brakes started sputtering and hopping at about 13000 miles. Since that time the problem has only gotten worse. I am currently at about 24000 miles. I have talked to several people where I work that have owned Dodge vehicles (99 and newer) and all of them have had the same problem. I researched this on the internet and found hundeds upon hundreds of people have this same problem. Using brakes that are defective on a vehicle is a major safety issue. How come Dodge has not yet recalled these brakes? how can so many people buy a brand new truck and have to replace the brake system within a year? this is very frustrating and dangerous for all the Dodge vehicle drivers throughout the world. Thank you, todd stack, federal law enforcement.
Abs system only works when pedal is applied very hard. When applied on ice front will lock up and rear will keep going. Vehicle taken to 2 dealerships, both stated this was normal for vehicle.
I took the vehicle into the dealer at 7000 miles for the rotors being gouged. The dealer said it was normal. Called customer service in michigan and they told the dealer to replace the rotors. One thousand miles later they are gouged again and squealing. Service advisor told me that brake system is under designed for vehicle weight and can't do anything for me. Please help. My brakes on other new Dodges didn't do this until 15 to 20k. Lots of excessive brake dust. Something must be wrong. Thanks.
Intermittently when brakes are applied pedal becomes hard, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has inspected vehicle several times.
Right rear brakes grab/lock up intermittently while driving, the vehicle has been taken to the dealer on several occasions but the brakes continue to lock up. Nlm.
The right rear brakes locks up and release at low speeds, we tested (mechanic) the brakes and the abs didn't work at sometimes, but then again it work fine.
I have had problems with the right front brakes, there is a clicking noise and I have had to have the brakes cleaned and serviced, and rotors turned. Now a new rotor on the front left. I have had this to the dealer from the first week I had the truck, Dodge cannot fix the problem and say there is nothing wrong. However I feel there is a problem when I have to have brake work done 4 times in 4 months. The brakes are extremely important on an automobile, and I feel that there is a problem and can eventually cause a serious and life threatining accident.
While applying brakes at 15 mph rear wheels locked up and caused vehicle to skid and rear ended into another vehicle in front. Dealer/manufacturer were not notified at this time. Please feel free to provide any further details.

Loss of control when braking at moderate speeds, see your consumer complaint database.
We purchased the vehicle 2/26/00 and had no apparent problems. Beginning in may it developed an intermittent brake pulsation. It progressed quickly to a very steady and violent shaking everytime we applied the brakes. On7/29/00 we were driving and saw traffic slowing ahead and began to slow as well, traffic then proceeded and we did as well. We were never closer than 8-10 car lengths. Traffic again slowed suddenly,we applied our brakes, they shook violently,we heard a squeal from the tires, and the brakes released,we then rear-ended the vehicle in front of us. . The dealer and all applicable parties were notified of the occurrence, the body shop did not notice anything obvious with the brake system. Once the body work was completed it was towed to ron tonkin Dodge wher daimler/Chrysler had arranged for an independent evaluation. They fond nothing in the computer and found nothing wrong with the brakes themselves(even the pulsation was gone). They released the vehicle to us. 3-4 days later the truck resumed the pulsation the same way it did originally. We waited 10 days from the evaluation and took it to the dealer to have them test drive the vehicle to verify the problem. Dave cordray the abs tech test drove the truck with me and felt the pulsation and said" thats not right". John geraci the sevice manager asked if it was safe and dave said if its his name on the repair order he wouldnt let us drive it. . We were given a rental car. 3 days later they called back and said the vehicle was fine and we could pick it up. John geraci explained that he drove the truck as well as the service advisor and said they felt a definite brake pulsation but they felt the same characteristic,to a much lesser degree, in the new vehicles they checked it against. John geraci checked with Chrysler and they determined it was safe and operating safely and normally. When asked for a written copy of our conversation concerning what all parties had felt on the test drive, john geraci said that Chrysler had said no.
