Brake Sensor Problems of Dodge Dakota

Dodge Dakota owners have reported 5 problems related to brake sensor (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Sensor problem of the 2005 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 01/30/2017

I am the original owner of a 2005 Dodge Dakota 4x4 4 door mid sized pick up. It has 89,000 miles on it. I experienced braking problems on 9/10/16 and brought it to the shops for complete break inspection where repairs were done. On 1/25/17 I took it to a Dodge dealer for an airbag sensor recall where the truck was looked at by Dodge mechanics. On 1/30/17 while driving, my truck lost all braking ability. The pedal when to the floor, despite rapidly pumping the breaks, I rear ended the car in front of me. Fortunately no one was hurt but this could have been a catastrophe had it happened in another location. The truck was towed to my local station where an inspection revealed the break lines had rotted out causing a catastrophic brake failure. I am not reading on line that gm has known about this issue with no recall or recommended special maintenance to be performed for these vehicle owners. I was just heading over a series of extensive hills where such brake failure could have been fatal. I was going straight on a city street well under 20 mph. I will provide repair records when I receive them.

2 Brake Sensor problem of the 1997 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 09/26/2014

3 days after we bought this vehicle the fuel system went down. Replaced the fuel pump and still wants to stall and act like its clogged in the fuel lines. Its been flushed. When driving it bogs down and chugs. It wants to die and shut off while your driving the truck. The brakes only work half the time. Most of the time I can't even stop until I'm halfway through the intersection. Replaced all the sensors and still doesn't want to start and stay running. Fuel pump kicks on, but has to run extra hard to try and keep the engine running.

3 Brake Sensor problem of the 1996 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

At idle/park my 1996 Dodge Dakota 4x4 v8 5. 2l slt will sputter and sometimes kill the engine. Now I'm not sure if that's a safety feature so the engine doesn't over flood itself, but I've replaced the iac valve, pcv valve, distributor rotor/cap, and spark plugs with no improvement. I recent had a problem where the conditions out we're somewhat icy and mid turn into a parking lot I took a blow to a fire hydrant because the vehicle killed itself, meaning loss of power steering and power brakes. I was fine, but my vehicles body took the damage. Luckily the airbag system didn't deploy but this issue has been brought up a lot with the 1995-1996 Dakotas. And honestly I'm scared that the vehicle might do this while on the free way. Also, of 3 O2 sensors that's just above the catalytic converter, all three have left the vehicles check engine light on and have tested faulty. I have yet to return to the exhaust systems shop to see if they can fix it due to it being under warranty, but my mechanic said that it mostly because there's an unneeded amount of extra power going to the O2 sensor which is causing it to fault. Anyhow, I appreciate anything that can be looked at into this, because I do live on a hilly suburb and I rather not take the fault of my vehicle failing and damaging state, neighbors or even my own property, let alone myself getting hurt.
