Michelin latitude tires p265/70 r17 bought sept. 2011 from costco in inglewood calif. The tread surface is peeling from the tire. There are small crater like areas where the tread has crumbled away. The latitude tire was advertised as; "latitude tour tires use a silica-based tread compound molded into a symmetric tread design". I went to costco to see if they would warranty the tire. At first they told me the deterioration of the tire thread was due to the surface that I drove on. After I assured the costco service tech that I drive on the streets and highway, not off road, he said he would only prorate the tire value based on the thread use. That turned out to be 50 percent of on a new set of tires.

on July 14,2011 I was making a right turn onto main street in toms river when the left front tire exploded, and a few seconds later the right tire also exploded. I drove about 100 feet to a parking lot to look at the damage. On the inside of both tires there was a large gash about 5 inches long on one tire and on the other tire there were 2 different gashes about 4 and 5 inches long. I put a spare on one wheel and had a hard time getting the 2nd wheel off so I hit it with the lug wrench. I took that tire to a nearby sts and bought a cheep tire $171. 00 and put it on and drove home. Two days later, Saturday July 16, 2011, I took the truck to goodyear where I purchased the tires less then a year ago. They told me because the back of the rim was scored it must not have exploded, it must have been cut in a carwash. They charged us $85. 41 for 2 new tires. They told us this did not happen on the road it had to have happened at a car wash. This truck has never been to a car wash since I have had it several years. I had them replace the 2 bad tires with goodyear wrangler sr-a’s but I still have 2 dunlop tires on the back of my truck. I am concerned for my safety, and my family’s safety, driving on these tires. I have a picture of one tire and I have pictures of the inside of the rims. Goodyear kept both tires. I am a former mechanic, front end specialist, for 22 years, I am a retires us amy vet, and currently working as sheriff's officer, and I have never seen tires that looked like this.

In June 2009 I purchased 4 new tires from power Dodge of valencia, CA. At the time I needed tires and I was told the tires they were selling were new. On October 18, 2010, I had a blow out of one of the tires on the freeway. The tire had approximately 8,000 miles on it. I went to get it replaced at a tire shop and was advised the tire was over 3 years old, I questioned the fact I just purchased the tire on 6-09 however, I was shown the tire was manufactured 6-07. I went to the dealer and they advised me that for say the tire was new when I purchased it and they have been told by Chrysler that tires have a shelf life of 5 years? needless to say they did not offer a remedy other than buy another. Is there not a law, rule or something that says a manufacture cannot sell a tire that has been on the shelf for over a year? the tires being sold that have been on the shelf for 2,3,4, and even 5 years are unsafe. It is evident that these dealers do not have ethics or care about their customers.

Pepboys/definity Dakota h/tp255/65r16, I purchased 4 of these tires through a meineke car care centeron 7/10/10 located at 49th & spruce streets in philadelphia, PA. Within the first two weeks the tires were on my Dodge Dakota, the tires were spin balanced 4 times at various locations due to excessive vehicle shaking in the seat and in the steering wheel. On 7/26/10, I noticed that on the right front tire 3 side belts appeared broken as there were indentations on the side walls that I had not observed previously. Upon closer inspection, it was observed that two out of the four new tires had broken belts. I call pepboys customer service number listed on their website and was advised to take the vehicle to a pepboys for inspection. I took the truck to pepboys located at 41st & market in philadelphia and when the service attendant inspected the tires, he reported that three of the four tires had broken belts. Such significant tire failure, lack of vehicle control is believed by me to be a hazard. This truck has scared the crap out of me ever since the tires were put on the truck. The lack of vehicle control has been to the point that the truck has acted like it is going off the road when going around corners. These tires are dangerous.

While driving down the road vehicle violently started to pull to the right and became hard to control. Drove truck off to the side of road to get stopped. Replaced tire with a spare and drove home. This same thing happened to drivers side 350 miles later and passengers side rear 250 miles after that. The final time it happened was this week on 4/8/08 approximately 2000 miles later.
Goodyear fortera tire issue - I have a set of 265-70-17 goodyear fortera silentarmor tires on a 2002 Dodge ram quad cab 1500 4x4. Bad vibration at highway speeds. I think that their is a design problem with these tires. I have spent several days at various tire dealers and have gone through 2 1/2 sets of tires in an attempt to correct the problem. The tires require an excessive amount of weight to balance. Even with all that weight the vibration is still present. There must be a design flaw or poor quality control during manufacture. I put a about 3000 miles on first set of tires and I now have about 500 miles on the current set. I hope this problem does not turn into a safety issue and the tires end up coming apart on the highway. I see only good reviews for the fortera silentarmor on the fortera website so I doubt that goodyear is posting any negative press. . . I have also made an attempt to post my comments on the goodyear website to make them aware of the issue.
: the contact stated when the tires are aired up they slowly deflate. There is a NHTSA recall, # 04t001000, regarding the tires. The tires have the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the serial number. Updated 4/11/2006 -.

Unsafe "goodyear wrangler st" tires. This morning in a light drizzle with the road getting wet but not puddled, my son and I while driving with in the speed limit and making a 90 degree turn slid into the opposite lane, luckly no one was coming in that lane. This was the twelfth time that I have slid on a slightly wet road. The first time I was stopping for a red light and I began to fish tail, we went two more blocks to the next red light , put on my brakes and we began to fish tail again. These tires do not have any traction on a wet road, even at a slow speed. I now have 11,000 miles on these tires and from day one they have been unsafe on wet roads, I have had twelve close calls with these tires and I believe it is time for me to file a complaint. Would you please check the history record on these "goodyear wrangler st" tires and see if there are any more complaints. I am 69 years old , driving since I was 16 and never had an accident, and I don't want one now over these tires that have no traction. I think that goodyear should take these five tires back and give me safe tires that have traction on wet roads. These tires were on the brand new Dodge Dakota pick up truck that I purchased. Thank you, john e. Brislin.

The vehicle was parked outiside and the consumer noticed that the front drivers side tire side thread separated from the wheel. All four tires and including the spare was replace. The tire was a goodyear wrangler st/p21575r15 please provide additional information dealer is aware of the problem. Ts.
Ongoing vibration in rear axle at highway speeds. Dodge has rotated and rebalanced original tires, had goodyear replace all 4 tires with new tires 3 times, has sent the truck to big-o for road force balancing 3 times, has rebalanced original driveshaft and then replaced the driveshaft with a new one all to no avail. Has been in for repairs 14 times so far. The final time goodyear replaced the tires, their store manager performed his own test for vibration. He mounted and balanced the new tires and then put the truck into the air on a hydraulic lift taking it up to highway speed. He noted the vibration, then removed the tires from the wheels, still noted the vibration and then removed the wheels from the axle and still noted the vibration. This was noted to both repair dealers, also to no avail.
Rt rear tire exploded at highway speed of 65 mph, dealer in lakewood NJ said it was caused by puncture in tread, I disagree but can not proof otherwise.
Two weeks from this date I was driving down the road and had a blowout on the drivers side rear tire. Took tire to good year dealer they said it was a tire defect and they would only pro-rate the tire. Two days ago from today the passenger side rear tire is now cracking. Good year dealer said it was another defective tire and that it is a problem with good year tires on these size and models. Need a safety recall on these tires and free replacement before someone dies. The tires are crackeing and spliting along the base on the rim. Crack is about 8" - 12" long.
Right rear tire locked up, hard to steer.
Defective wrangler tires.

Tire exploded on new asphalt in 104 temperature. The side wall blew out. I normally would go on with life but I have two other friends with same tires having the same problem. I have replaced all tires with different brand. ( dot number: unknown tire size: 255x65x15 ).
Excessive outer tire wear( dot number: tire size: p22515rs ).
Tires were installed at the factory. Vehicle was purchased for standard - on the road - use. At no time prior to the purchase was it reported that, as equipped, the owners manual prohibited the use of tire chains or traction devices on this vehicle. This severly restricts use of the vehicle. A complaint was filed with the national center for dispute settlement who refused to hear the case as it was not "broken". Rather this was something that was limited by design. The inability to use tire chains or traction devices represents a significant safety issue when used on the roads during winter months. Daimlerchrysler motors corporation and the dealer of purchase point fingers to each other, advising that each is a for-profit organization and the responsibility rests with the other party. Repeated calls to daimlerchrysler motors corporation and the dealer of purchase have failed to discover the reason for the restriction. Consequently, I must assume that tire chain use would represent an operational risk. ( dot number: tire size: p255/65/15 ).
