47 problems related to car stall have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Durango. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Dt: consumer stated the vehicle stalled while driving about 30 mph. The service dealer could not duplicate the problem. It has happened 3 times today and has happened for the past 3 weeks, it appears to be getting worse. After putting the vehicle into park, the vehicle will sometimes start immediately, but sometimes the consumer would have to wait for about 10 minutes to restart it.
The driver noticed that the vehicle started jerking uncontrollably and hesitating without warning. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and pulled over. Then, the vehicle stalled. Driver turned off the vehicle for ten minutes, and then restarted. Few miles down the road the vehicle stalled again. Driver tried to restart vehicle, but was unable to do so. Driver had the vehicle towed to the dealer, and mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced. Due to sludge build up.
When trying to start vehicle it fails or it starts and dies. It has also stalled when driving several times, locking up the power steering, almost causing accidents.
Truck stalls often, while driving or waiting at a stop light. Brakes go out, power steering goes out, all gauges go out. Very dangerous on freeway. Wait 5 to 45 min and cars starts and runs fine.
While driving at various speeds vehicle stalled. Consumer towed the vehicle to the dealer, but technician could not duplicate or correct the problem.
While driving about 5 mph and pulling out of a parking lot rear rim fell off and vehicle stalled. Driver had vehicle towed to the dealership for analysis.
Our Durango has stalled and the engine completely stopped on 6 different occassions, each time in traffic, each time we have nearly had an accident. Dealer and manufacturer cannot find problem, dispite 4 different inspections, though the problem did repeat for them. They still can't find the reason. Beginning lemon law proceeding.
Intermittently while driving vehicle stalls unexpectedly. Also, loss of power steering which may cause a crash. About 5 minutes later, vehicle will start up again. Dealer cannot determine the cause of the problem. Please provide further information.
This was the approximately 7th time this vechical stalled, this time resulting in an accident (power steering and brakes don't work without engine running). Daimlercrysler says there is nothing wrong with the vechicle this has forced us to contact a lawyer to presue the matter.

When driving between 40-55 mph vehicle will cut off and stall intermittently, causing loss of power brakes and steering, consumer must coast to a stop. Dealer has replaced computer system, but defect still occurs.
While driving and without warning vehicle will surge/ stall. Mechanic has been notified. Also, has repaired head gasket/ cleaned throttle/ power train, and timer module. However, vehicle is still having same problem.
