Four problems related to engine oil leaking have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Durango. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Over the last three years of operating the vehicle (2005-2007): 1. Fire in the front wheel assembly after 1. 5 hours of 4-wheel drive - 1100$ replace 2. Speed sensor failure ($500 work) 3. Engine failure on the highway @80 mph - $7000 replace and other costs, lucky survived 4. Joint balls replace (about 400$) 5. Ac failure ($960 repair) 6. Now parked - transmission/engine joint oil leak, estimated $1200 repair.
The vehicles intake pan gasket is defective and caused oil to leak from the engine during vehicle operation. The consumer is concerned that leaking oil will result in engine seizure.
My engine has lock down and there were slug in the engine and I have been having my oil changes regularly and I had and oil change the day before my engine lock down on me. The dealership will not replace my engine so I had to pay the hold bill myself and also when they were replacing my engine they told me I my that I had a leak in my transmission so I had to replace that also and my fog lights went out on me within less than 6 months after I purchase my Durango I only put 24,000 miles on the Durango. I only had my Dodge Durango one year seven months. There are to many other Dodge Durangos with the same defects and the manufacturer.
Consumer was driving up a steep incline when the "check engine" light illuminated. Consumer had to drive an additional 3 miles before it was safe to stop vehicle. Consequently, all the engine oil had leaked out, causing engine to "blow up".
