The car dint show any sing of having problem staring or stalling or nothing the engine just made a big noise like something blew up and everything shut off. 7 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

takata recall there are several things that are going on with my 2005 Dodge Durango slt 4. 7 liter v8, 4 wheel drive SUV that are alarming. Every single time I fuel the vehicle it shoots gasoline right back on out of the gas tank where you insert the fuel nozzle and covers me with gas! plus I have replaced the throttle position sensor several times, along with the idle air control valve, and map sensor just to try and correct the stalling while either slowing down to come to a stop, or it also occurs quite frequently when the vehicle is at normal operational temperature and just idling. The rpm gauge inside the vehicle starts fluctuating irratically before stalling. You lose all power and control over the vehicle when it stalls! another problem that's present is hard shifting, or the vehicle fails to shift until it almost pegs out the rpm gauge. It's like both idle and shift are affected creating a safety issue. The transmission has been serviced regularly, tuneups, etc. However despite staying on top of all vehicle maintenance requirements the vehicle still runs poorly and has been doing this since I have owned it at 78,000 miles. It's now got 113k on it and I honestly think the vehicle is a safety hazard and needs the manufacturing company to address all of these issues! this is an ongoing issue that no matter how many times I have the vehicle repaired and the parts replaced it continues to stall out and shift incorrectly there's 18 trouble codes that keep coming up including the air bag on the passenger side, which really doesn't seem to fit what's really going on. No trouble codes for the fuel tank shooting gas out of the inlet pipe that leads to gas tank. This stalling and loss of power happens at all speeds on the freeway, city driving, or literally parked or slowing down from any speed. Any kind of weather condition. Problem started 8/01/2014 to present day.

8 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

Vehicle stalled while driving, completely froze up. Was unable to use brakes, steering wheel was also affected. Was very scary as we were driving in traffic. This has happened on more than one occasion while driving and also when backing out of driveway.

9 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2014

I was driving on 65 hwy north in missouri and for no apparent reason the Durango stalled and I lost all power mechanical and electrical I could not steer or brake it was all I could do to maintain my lane I had just recently had an oil change and still had about 1000 more miles before I needed a new change it was a scary experience I could not restart the vehicle in neutral I finally got pulled over to the side of the road and got it restarted had to drive back home under 25 miles per hour or it would stall again it was very unsafe and endangered me my wife and my 3 children.

10 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2013

Has occurred multiple times. Initially my 05 Durango would stall when pulling into parking spaces. Has progressed to normal driving conditions at around 35 mph while turning the engine will shut off. Occasionally the rpms will jump up and down too. Engine idles around 500rpm. When this first occurred there were no warning lights illuminated. I just don't feel like this is a safe vehicle at this point in time and based off of the other reports, Dodge should investigate and repair at no cost.

11 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2013

The vehicles dash board lights will all light up, at one point I would have the gas floored and it would feel like I'm towing a house it started getting worse to the point the car would stall while driving so I would put it in neutral and it would start back up when the lights arent on it runs fine but once the light come on the dash board it acts up and all the lights come on tempature, check engine, air bag, 4x4, oil light ,battery light ,etc Dodge flashed my computer it worked for a week and then started again I have had many mechanics look at it along with Dodge and no one can figure out the problem , recently starting 5/27/15 the problems have proceedeed to get extremely dangerous now once all the lights light up it stalls and may not restart several times I've been stuck on the highway waiting an hour or two to restart it and now it only gets me a few feet then stalls plus its now doing it with no lights on the dash ,rpms ,mph etc , and when it drives sometimes there is nothing on dash but when I hit brakes all the guages will shoot up temparture and fuel even if its not a full rank it will say it then when I step on gas the dash board gos out, I have contacted corporate Dodge to resolve this issue telling them I've seen several numerous complaints the same as mine but yet no recall so they now want me once again to take it to Dodge, June 9th 2015 , but today June 3rd 2015 , I stalled in the street on rt 9 and it would not start at all to the point I had to call a tow truck then once the tow truck dropped it at my house it started but all the lights were lit up on dash ,if I was able to post pictures and videos on here I would because I video the dash every time it does it and I plan to show Dodge the videos on the 9th , Dodge needs to resolve this issue.

14 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2013

The vehicle stalls while making turning maneuvers at low speeds which disables the power steering and brakes. This has occured on numerous occasions but the dealer is unable to duplicate the prolem and has not been able to correct this issue. This has always occur during decelerations, such as braking for a stop sign or traffic signal. When it happen I must immidiately put the vehicle in park and restart it, but luckily this has not let to an accident yet.

15 Car Stall problem

The car begins to sputter and stall at constant speeds, then stalls while running which disables the power steering and brakes. This situation is profoundly dangerous as it renders the car nearly unable to stop. The only way you can stop is if you can get the car into neutral, coast off the road and quickly restart the engine. The engine light does come on during. I have gotten this issue repaired four times and it continues to occur and the sensors that correspond to the code have been replaced twice each and are in full working order. 19 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2012

This car has stalled multiple of times, with no lights, no warning of it going to happen. This is very dangerous and I have taken it to bob boyd dealership where I bought the car 6 years ago. It now has around 80000 miles on it and in the last few months, it has started to get worse. I took it to the dealership and they told me that they cant do anything with it until the can replicate the problem. The first time I took it there, it was 1 year after I bought it, they replaced the battery as they said that was the problem. Was till the year and now the problem is back again. This time more frequent. I have taken the car to them twice now and they give me the same answer, that they cant fix it till it breaks, they have to replicate the problem to make sure they can fix it, meanwhile, I have a car that's not working right and very dangerous. They had the car for two days the first time, and then took it back to them after it stalled driving it home from the dealership. The second time, they kept it for over a week, still, they say they cant fix it cause they don't know what the problem is. You can google this problem and it is wide spread across this country, other Dodge products are doing the same thing and the dealerships aren't doing anything to fix it. Please contact these people and give us consumers a fighting chance in getting this fixed. I will never buy another Dodge product after this. Thanks for reading this, and if you decide to do something about this, thank you dearly for doing so. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. 22 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2012

I have a 2005 Durango and lately it has been dying with no type of any warning. It usually will happen if I am turning a corner, coming to a stop and then trying to accelerate, or going through parking lots. Saturday I had a car full of kids leaving a baseball game and I stopped at a stop sign to cross a busy hwy in my hometown and when I went to accelerate to go across the intersection of the hwy my Durango died right there with oncoming traffic headed toward us. . . I couldn't steer and had to stop in the middle of the hwy with the kids in my car and put the car in park and frantically try to start the car hoping this would help (which thankfully it did this time). This has happened more than once and each time is getting more and more scarier. I am afraid to drive the car for fear one of these times my family and I won't be so lucky and will end up being killed due to the defect in the vehicle. I have reviewed many forums online and see many complaints in the forums where this has been brought to Dodge's attention and even complaints on this site with nothing done to resolve this issue. This is very dangerous for everyone involved because of the stalling of the vehicle. Please listen to the consumers and help resolve this issue. Thank you.

25 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2012

We were driving back into town from a family visit. We slowed down coming back into town and my vehicle stalled out when we started slowing down. We almost got rear ended by another vehicle. We tried to start it back up however my vehicle kept stalling out. I took it to three different places including the dealership where I had originally purchased the vehicle and they kept telling me there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. After over a thousand dollars at the dealers and several hundred more at the other two places to this day it still cuts out and stalls out when I am driving it. Now because it is a hazard we do not drive it at all and it is parked in our back yard waiting for a miracle to happen. . . Thank you for your time. Sincerely very frustrated.

26 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2011

2005 Dodge Durango limited, 5. 7l hemi v8 stalls while backing up. First time it happened the truck started right back up immediately. The second time on 11/28/11, it took 3 times to restart the vehicle. This has only happened while in reverse. Apparently this is a common problem with the hemis and there is a TSB #0802404 to "reflash" the engine and update the software. The forums state that this is a fix for some vehicles, but not all. I am scared to be in this car with my kids now-what if we stall on the highway and get into a wreck? please fix this issue! our safety is my number one concern, and should be yours as well, Dodge!.

35 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2011

There is a problem with my 2005 Dodge Durango 5. 7l hemi. It stalls without warning when coasting. My wife complained but I didn't believe her much until it happened to me. I was approaching a turn then all of a sudden the car lost its power steering. I looked down at the rpm's and noticed the vehicle had turned off, I threw it into neutral, coasted and re-started the car. Almost hit the center divide and missed the turn and if my wife was driving I'm sure she would have gotten into an accident. I have read numerous online complaints from different forums with the same problem, this is definitely not an isolated issue!.
