Car Stall problems of the 2005 Dodge Durango - part 2

My Durango will stall without warning. It normally does this at low speeds such as coming up on a stop sign or doing a 3 point turn. When it stalls you lose power steering and brakes. It has also happened on the freeway in stop and go traffic.

My 2005 Dodge Durango stalls at low speeds or when stopped at light. Stalls when turning in front of traffic. I have gone online to read hundreds of similar complaints. Dodge dealership has done nothing but charge people money for futile repairs that hasn't solved the problem. Someone is going to get killed. I pray a family with small children don't have to be the sacrifice for Dodge to do something about the problem. This is very dangerous. It was opened for investigation but later closed. Due to people like me who didn't know how to properly report the problem, just go to the dealership for them to tell us we are wrong and the Durango is just fine. Please open this up for investigation, I will let you keep my Durango for 30 days to see for yourself, you can pick it up anytime. . Please don't react after someone pays the ultimate price, it may be you or someone you know and/or love.

No power braking. . . Nothing. Truck was able to restart immediately following the event. We took it to our mechanic who could find nothing wrong with the truck. I just purchased an 05' Dodge Durango with the 5. 7 hemi motor. I have had the vehicle 1 month and it has just started stalling on me. Very scary situation. It has happened at the exact same spot both times. I have researched this online and found a couple of forums where this apparently a major issue. I come to a stop at a red light , start to accelerate to make a right turn and lose all power. It has done this 2x in 1 month. Please let me know if this problem has ever been diagnosed.

My 2005 Durango stalls when slowing to a stop or slowing to turn. There is no warning, everything just stops. Loss of powersteering makes the situation very unsettling and dangerous, especially when making an unprotected left turn in heavy traffic. I have had the vehicle for almost two years and have notice an increase in the number of stalls over the past few months. Have not yet had the vehicle looked at due to the inability to consistently recreate the problem.

I have owned this vehicle for approximately four years now. It has a persistent and very unsettling problem of stalling for no apparent reason with no corresponding warning lights etc. It just dies and the power steering and brakes fail resulting in significant loss of steering and braking effectiveness. Purchased a used 2005 Dodge Durango limited with the hemi. It has died multiple times at red lights with no warning and no pattern to the stalling. Have called multiple dealerships who claim they have no prior experience with this problem. Each time it has started up immediately but with a 7 month old baby I fear the consequences of continuing to drive this vehicle when no one seems to know what causes the problem and with an internet search have found that I'm not alone in having this problem.

He said the ets valve needed to be replaced. We replaced it for $344. 16 however, though he kept it and drove it, it didn't happen to him and he said it would be hard to be 100% sure it that was really the issue. It was his best answer. He couldn't understand why a car that only has 39k miles on it and is 4 years old would do this.

I immediately put my car in park and started the car and put my foot on the gas and got out of immediate harms way. It is truly a miracle that I was not hit by a vehicle head on where cars were coming at me at approximately 45 mph. There needs to be a recall before someone dies if it hasn't happen already. If something happens to me while I am driving this vehicle this is my proof of trying to get a recall for a very serious malfunction. This issue needs to be investigated with great care and quickly. I was shocked to see how many hundreds of thousands of other Dodge Durango owners who are complaining about the same incident. Please, please help. I am terrified that the vehicle is going to stall on the highway or in front of a school bus or truck, possibly causing more fatalities.

I was pulling out of work when my car stalled after I stopped and made a left hand turn . . . Immediately upon turning, my car stalled & would not start up. I tried to start the car for about 15 minutes because this event happen a prior time & started up immediately the first time it happened. The vehicle stalls out at low speeds. So when you are at a stop light or slow down to turn or are in a parking lot, it stalls. When this happens, you can't steer because that only works with the car running. This started right after the 3 year warranty was over and has continued through today. They also didn't fix the recall item and I have fuel spills every time I set the nozzle on automatic and it is supposed to shut off. It does not shut off because the gauge is defective. Now I have a spot under the fuel fill that was eaten away by gas and it is now rusty.

The dealer has cleaned the throttle body, replaced the battery as they said it was loosing voltage and flushed the fuel injection system. As we drove it out of the dealership after it was "fixed" it did the same thing, yet they cannot duplicate the problem when they have it.

My 2005 Dodge Durango limited, hemi v8, 50k miles has stalled 4 times at highway speeds. (65-80) and twice in the last week. When this happens the SUV has a loss of power/steering/brakes and it is quite a challenge to coax the SUV to the side of the road and avoid damage. This last time the SUV was unable to stop in a safe distance and went off in the median. It also lost automatic headlights so I was trying to move the SUV off the road at night with no lights to guide on a busy section of I-90 in ohio. The Durango has also stalled 2 times backing out of my driveway in the last 3-6 months. I have had this looked at by my local dealer and they could not find any problems. The Durango is up to date on all TSB's and recalls. I will be bringing the Durango back to the shop again tomorrow to have it check out again.
