I have a 2005 Dodge Durango slt with the 5. 7l v8 hemi. I just purchased it used January 16th of 2010 with 80,000 miles on it. The vehicle has begun to stall (the steering locks up, brakes hard to push, engine cuts off) when making turns occasionally from the stopped position, or when accelerating. It varies as to when this happens, but it has happened to me 5 times since Jan. 16th. The latest incident was yesterday (Feb 1st) while making a turn off of rockport road onto highway 37 north in bloomington, indiana. The speed limit is 60 in this stretch of the highway, and as I was turning onto the highway the Durango quit working. I immediately put it in park and started it back up and floored it in reverse to get back onto rockport road. I had given myself ample space to pull onto the highway to avoid traffic, however at those speeds, two vehicles had approached rather fast. This morning I did a little research into this problem at work, and I have found numerous complaints of the same issue. This is a serious safety concern and one that needs to be addressed immediately. The dealerships says the engines are going bad, the sensors need replaced. Well I am here to tell you these are all lies. I work as a sales representative at the Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in bloomington indiana, and our service department (the same as every single one in the us) diagnoses these problems "to the best of their ability", ability that is terrible in my eyes.
