1999 Dodge Durango rear wheel lock on freeway 5 south of san diego close to palm Ave no accident but really close to be one the abs light on my truck came on couple times change couple thing like sensors and problem remains.
I purchased a 2006 Dodge Durango in Feb. Of 2006. Shortly after that I received a recall notice in the mail for the abs system. My abs light on the dash had been coming on periodically. I took the vehicle back to the dealership for the required repairs. The abs light continued to come on and I have taken it back a total of five times to date and as of yesterday the abs light is still coming on. The last time I took the vehicle back which was two weeks ago they thought they had found the problem, which was the abs computer had the wrong tire size programmed into it from the factory. They corrected that and was sure they had found the problem. Yesterday was the first time the abs light came on just after I started the vehicle and it was not moving. The other times the vehicle was always moving. By the way I have not changed the tires on the vehicle, the factory tires and wheels are on the vehicle that came with it. I have had the vehicle for well over a year and have made five attempts to get this problem fixed with no results. The brake system is a safety issue and I am considering turning the vehicle back in under the lemon law. . . .

While driving 55 mph on the highway I depressed the brake pedal to slow down and the pedal went to the floor and abs lights came on. Thinking the system needed to bleed I had that done. I drove the vehicle home , and found it very difficult to stop when needed. I had the following parts replaced: master cylnder, brake power booster, abs system, rear wheel cylinders ,and had the lines flushed. I still have absolutely no brakes! there was no brake pressure at all. The pedal went straight to the floor with no resistance. Took truck to mechanic, and they could not find the cause of the problem. So it still sat with no brakes.

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango that the brakes and abs dash lights stay on all the time. Brakes have been replaced on all four wheels, technician said the problem with the dash lights is most likely a sensor. I have talked to others that own Dodge Durangos, and this is a common complaint. Talked to the dealer, since it is not under warranty, estimated cost to repair was about $1,200 (and they would still not guarantee that it would correct the problem. It seems to me that this is clearly a safety defect, and the manufacturer should be held responsible to make the corrections at their cost.
: the contact stated while at the dealership for a tire replacement and alignment the dealership observed the upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced prior to the tire replacement. There is a NHTSA recall, # 04v596000, regarding the suspension: front: control arm: upper ball joint. The VIN was not included in the recall. The dealership replaced the upper and lower ball joints on both sides. Since purchase, the abs light and brake light intermittently illuminate. As a result, smoke comes from the wheel well area. The dealership was notified about the problem however, they are unable to duplicate it.

: the contact stated while driving 30 mph in the rain, the abs light on the dash illuminated intermittently, and the vehicle swerved from side to side. The vehicle ultimately collided with a concrete barrier in the center of the highway, and struck one person, who suffered two broken legs. A police report was taken at the scene of the crash. The vehicle was towed to a junkyard, and declared a total loss.
While applying the brakes vehicle pulled to right. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle. Abs braking light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Consumer drove vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced.
My complaint is a 2003 Dodge Durango. Less than 13,000 miles and ball joints, arm controls, brakes, sway arms are going out. Last week was the 2nd time joints were replaced. I would like to know what is the deal with this. Have there been any other complaints. I feel as though vehicle is not safe to drive. Especially with my 11 yr. Old daughter and 2 yr. Old son. In and out of dealer service dept is wearing me thin.

Anti-lock brake warning light comes on while driving. In accordance with owner's manual immediately took to dealer for repair. Dealer unable to identify cause - estimates $1,350. 00 in cost to replace main sensor, which he cannot assure will correct. Recommends I just drive and ignor warning light. I am able to lock up brakes, indicating anti-lock feature not functioning as it should.
While driving consumer applied brakes abruptly for a quick stop, but the vehicle slid through the intersection and the abs light illuminated. Took vehicle to dealer, who diagnosed that the brake sensor had failed.
Needed to do a hard stop. The anti-lock brakes seemed slow to engage, dis-engage, and re-engage during which the car would roll. Basically, the abs would engage, then disengage, and before they would re-engage, the car rolled. It was a noticeable amount of time, and a noticeable roll before the abs re-engaged. It seemed like it took a second. Since the car rolled and wouldn't stop, we needed to swerve to miss traffic. Took it to a Dodge dealer, and they said nothing was wrong. Even test drove it with the service manager, pointed out the roll, but he only gave me excuses. I guess if the abs light doesn't come on, they don't think anything is wrong.
