1 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/06/2019

The brake warning light came on and stated low fluid. I topped off the fluid. I checked all wheels for leaks and found none. Several weeks later, the same warning appeared and break fluid was low again. I scheduled an appointment with apple Dodge in hanover, PA. They found that the brake line had been rubbing on the steering column and rubbed a hole in the metal brake line causing the leak. This vehicle has never been in an accident and has never been "off-roading". I contacted Dodge to request a refund of the brake system repair as I feel that this was a manufacturing defect and the vehicle left the factory with the condition of the brake line rubbing the steering column and this should be treated the same as a recall. Dodge case management # 59431690. I was notified by phone today, 9/6/19, that Dodge would only refund 50% of the repair cost. This brake system failure could have caused a very serious accident and even death. Attached are copies of the invoice (2 pages), and pictures of the damaged brake line and worn area on the steering column. The vehicle has 50,084 miles on it.

2 Brake Light On problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

Just bought this vehicle, the abs and brake light is on, contacted seller and he stated it was not on when he sold it to me. I took to auto zone for them to run the needed scan on it. It showed rear wheel sensor. So, I took it to my mechanic. He then ran 3 different code scans on it and it came up with nothing. So, unfortunately he can't fix it without a code. Unless I want to thro more money into it just to start replace ikng things that maybe may not be the problem. Now the check engine light is on. Upon reading others with the same problem, I feel there is a faulty something in there that needs to be figured out and recalled. I pray to god, my brakes dont go out while I am driving with my kids in the vehicle. I am a single parent and cannot afford to just go out and buy another vehicle. Figure out the problem and get it recalled and fixed, please!.

3 Brake Light On problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/10/2016

Driving on interstate taking kids to school when brake light suddenly came on and vehicle brakes were like pushing a brick. Had someone pick up the kids and took to local repair shop I use. They informed me that the power brake booster had went out and when they called the dealership for a part was told it was on back order nationally with no estimate of the time to take to get the part in stock. Best guess was 3-6 months. No mention that the vehicle had a recall on the part (p41). Item repaired with a used oem part from a low-mileage Durango since no other part was available to use. I still have the defective part that had to be replaced along with documentation from repair shop that it was required to be replaced. On interstate again today with kids in vehicle and suddenly had no ability to go above 20 mph and pulled over to have car towed to dealership. Was taking it in for fuel pump relay (r09) recall this morning anyway. Fuel pump relay was repaired. Dealership says the wheels locked up on them and recommended replacing the power brake booster and master cylinder at a cost of $800 since it could be related to previous power brake booster repair due to a used part replacement. I asked if the part was covered under the recall and explained everything and was told that since it was done by another repair shop and a used part that the recall did not cover the part and it would be out of pocket nor could I recover the cost from the previous fix even thought the part was on back order. Asked for corporate contact and was given (800)992-1997. Spoke with representative and was told I would be called back. Late afternoon I called again since I was still waiting for the call back. I was told that the entire cost would be out of pocket and that the recall would not cover part or reimbursement since a non-Chrysler mechanic performed the work and a used part was used.

5 Brake Light On problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/05/2016

Abs parking brake light on. No code comes through scanner. Transmission drags and shifts improperly throughout. During slippery snow conditions not able to brake with abs is very dangerous for my family and others on the road. There are many reviews regarding this issue with the Dodge Durango and this should be a very important matter due to all the Dodge Durangoso on the road. I have been to a couple mechanics that don't exactly know what the actual problem is and that is not ok. Safety first!.

6 Brake Light On problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/28/2015

Abs & brake lights illuminated and speedometer works sporadically - I just purchased my vehicle but was told by previous owner that the abs & brake lights have been on for some time and a continuous problem. Both the abs & brake lights are illuminated and the speedometer works sporadically. After searching the internet for repair options, I have found that several thousand people have the same issue. I am told it is one of two issues: wheel and/or transmission sensors and/or abs control module. I feel this should be a recall by daimler Chrysler as there are way too many complaints & issues with the same thing.

7 Brake Light On problem of the 2006 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/14/2015

On 6/14/2015 I was about to back my trailer into my yard, when my gear shift column selector locked in park. I depressed the brake pedal and it would not budge. Additionally, my brake lights are no longer working. Prior to all of these problems I had to replace my ignition for it was locking and would not turn to the on position or accessories position. It cost me $400 dollars for a new ignition to be installed by the dealer and now I have worse problems than before. So I began researching and here is my findings: 1) safetyrecall g28 -ignition/park shift interlock in 2001 and 2002 models for many vehicles which included the Durango. 2) the brake transmission shift interlock connector has malfunctioned will not allow the shifter to move. So if the dealer knows about these recalls why didn't they fix them free of charge.

12 Brake Light On problem of the 2007 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/13/2012

The accelerator of our 2007 Durango at rest is about 1 inch lower than the brake. I have several times stepped on the brake to put it in gear and am also stepping on the accelerator, because it is too close to the same height. The brake is slightly higher. This causes quite a jerk when I start the car and put in gear quickly. We have a 2000 Durango. The separation height of the brake vs the accelerator is 2 3/4 inches. I've never experienced the same with it. I took the car to two dealers that said there is no adjustment to either the brake or the accelerator. Chrysler corp. Offers no solution. I'd expect that a recall for the brake arm (bent to give higher at rest) should be done. I am very afraid of this condition and fear that it will cause me to lurch ahead or back at some time when I forget to make sure I only have my foot on the brake. I have pictures of the position of the brake and accelerator and can get them to whomever may need them.

13 Brake Light On problem of the 2000 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/05/2011

While driving nb on southwest highway in palos the light changed to yellow, then red, I applied the brakes and the vehicle was slowing down as normal. Suddenly the brake pedal hit the floor as if the hydraulics fluid had been let out of the brake system. The abs and brake light went on and I could hear the anti lock system making noise. I pumped the brakes quickly and car stopped in just enough time to prevent an accident. I pulled to the side of the road and opened the hood to inspect the fluid levels, they were perfect, no leaks either. I restarted the car and the abs and brake light went out, the brakes do not appear to be working correctly however, I will have a mechanic check them out on Friday.

14 Brake Light On problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

The abs and parking brake lights on the control panel stay on after starting the vehicle. I have been told the abs control module needs to be replaced and that if not the brakes hydraulics could brake and cause brake failure. This is not a common repair and should be looked into as a recall for brake failure.

17 Brake Light On problem of the 1998 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/05/2004

1) abs and brake lights came on, whining noise from front end 2) dealer determined ball joints in front and wheel bearings in serious shaped, laughed at how I was just driving on the highway since the likelihood of the wheels falling off was so high. 3. Dealer installed 2 hub brakes, bearings in front ($1025. 30 cost) and overhauled rear differential, bearings worn and excessive movement in pinion ($924. 48). * now I hear NHTSA has discovered this on 00-03 Durangos (mine is a 98) and wants Chrysler to recall them. I paid all this money to correct a problem even the federal government says is Chrysler's fault. They should give me at least a credit for future repairs.

I checked the bill of sale and found that the mileage that was written on it was not the mileage that I bought it at. I never noticed that before.
