1 Brakes Failed problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/21/2019

The emergency brake cable simply broke upon regular deployment. The failure happened on a low grade hill, not a steep hill. The dealership, king's Dodge, cincinnati, reported the cause of failure was weather corrosion to the components. The estimate to repair it was very expensive. I've never had an emergency brake fail on any of my previous Dodge vehicles.

2 Brakes Failed problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

While I love my 2001 Dodge Durango rt, there are a couple of serious problems / safety issues the vehicle has. Number one is the passenger front seat is very loose and rocks back and forth during acceleration and braking which could cause severe injuries if the vehicle was in a wreck, whiplash etc. In doing my research the average fix that the dealers will do costs between 600-800. 00 which is to replace the motor assembly. There are links on various forum for instructions to fix yourself for about 40. 00 orovoodmg a better fix that the dealers will not provide, but it is complicated and very labor intensive. My number one concern is to be safe and have safe passengers! to be able to bring this into Dodge and get this permanently fixed at no cost to me. There are untold amounts of Dodge Durango owners out there with this same issue, which Dodge currently will not recall. The other two issues are incredibly defective ball joints. Since Dodge recalled these trucks for the ball joints many including mine previous to me buying it, we're brought in for recall repair in 2006. Please note the suspension components company called "moog" fixed this Dodge engineering problem for this year make and model with their own specially designed ball joint. As far as the brakes go this a very heavy SUV, in which if one needs to stop quickly and the brakes fail or skid the wheels due to lock up this again like the seats is a very important safety issue that Dodge needs to correct. I have faith that Dodge will take care of more consumer issues than Ford ever will.

7 Brakes Failed problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/18/2015

The very first time was when I was slowing down from about 50mph at a corner in order to take a right hand turn, about halfway through the 90° corner I feel that the steering has stiffened. Looking down, I see that the tachometer now reads 0, and the engine has died. I cannot simply slip it into neutral and then restart it because of the car has a keyless pushbutton and the start button only works with the drive in park. I then have to armstrong it through the rest of the corner. As I finish up the turn to where I can safely stop and restart, I then push the brakes only to find that they are now totally stiff because there is now no vacuum left to assist. I end up costing to a stop. The car always restarts without any problem. This problem has persisted and has happened at least 20 times since. It is always is when slowing down from anywhere from 60 to 30 mph and beginning to take a right turn. I have never seen this happen when doing a left, but there are not to many chances to duplicate this scenario doing a left. We had the one recall for the fuel pump done so that should not be it. We have complained about this to numerous Dodge dealers and they have done nothing. One service writer said that he knew of the problem, knew that the fuel pump recall was not fixing it and that there was going to be another recall to fix the problem. When this happens unexpectedly as you are going 25 mph in a traffic roundabout, it is all you can do to try to steer through the rest of the traffic circle, only to find that your power brakes are failed as you try to stop to restart. This is a very serious defect that needs immediate attention, someone is going to be killed with this happening, either the occupants of the car, or the public. We also have a 2011 Jeep grand cherokee and it is doing the exact same thing, but more because it is driven more.

8 Brakes Failed problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

Started my truck and when I went to put it into drive upon applying the brake the pedal was hard and when I applied pressure there was a "hissing" "air noise". I thought that maybe it was just really cold out and it needed to warm up a bit more, so I pumped the brakes and it seemed better. Definitely didn't think that a truck I have had less than 3 years would have any brake issues. Well I was wrong. . . When going to pull out of my driveway, which is on a main road, I went to apply the brake and the car wasn't stopping. Quickly thinking I pushed on the emergency brake and stopped myself and my younger son from rolling into traffic going well over 40mph. If I had not been doing under 10mph my son and myself would have been seriously injured and possibly dead. I never received any recall on this truck but apparently after looking up brake problems on this vehicle there without a doubt is and I am not the first person to have the brakes fail on them. Very scary and now that my heart is back in my chest, very mad!.

9 Brakes Failed problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

There have been 6 recalls on my car. I have had my name on the waiting list at my dealer, only to be told it could be about a year. I keep getting recall letters as I'm waiting for one thing and no parts available for another. I always have children in my car and feel extremely unsafe to drive everyday. The weather is getting dangerous and one of the recalls is on my brakes. I was told, "don't worry, it should be ok until the winter. " well, the winter is here and I still have about 6 months left on the waiting list. How is one supposed to drive and feel safe, knowing my car can "stall without warning", have an "under hood fire" or have my "brakes fail" at any moment while in driving? what's even worse is, there's nowhere to turn because everywhere I call "sorry maam, there aren't any parts. . " great! now I'm lost and risking my life on a day to day basis. Help!!!.

12 Brakes Failed problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

There has not been an incident yet - my issue there has been a recall for the brake booster but the dealer is telling me that Dodge is not sending the parts needed to fix the problem. Apparently the brakes could possibly freeze and fail. I called the dealer 7/1/2014 and was "put on the list" for the part to be replaced. I called today, 8/1/2014, and was told I was on the list but there was almost 50 others in front of me and that Dodge was only sending 2 or 3 parts a month and had restricted the part so it couldnt be ordered. At this rate, it will be the end of the year before my car is fixed. Although it is Aug. Now, it will get cold soon and I have 3 children that I chauffeur around. I would hate for one of them to be injured because the brakes fail and would also hate to file a lawsuit over a known issue that Dodge seems to be dragging their feet over. Is there anyway to expedite the process so the car can be fixed before winter?.
