1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2019

My vehicle was at jeff wyler Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep in batavia, ohio for a week plus a few days. In all of that time that this vehicle was having its transmission issues diagnosed and inspected, the service department failed to address the open recall of NHTSA recall #17v-376, fca recall #t33 for the steering wheel wiring. The dealership knows about open recalls and, yet failed to perform the repairs on this vehicle. Instead, it allowed my vehicle to be towed from its lot back to my home address, despite knowing that it failed to address the recall. Dodge customer care representatives informed me of this recall while I was on the phone with them and still the dealership did not even make mention of this. They failed to repair the potentially dangerous or fatal issues with the vehicle and Dodge failed to ensure that the vehicle recall was completed during all of my conversations with Dodge and Dodge executive office personnel.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

Tipm issue just recently bought a 2011 Grand Caravan with 107000 miles on it. It began having issues with intermitten starting and the side doors would open while parked. After some quick research I read about the tipm issue that is well known. I found a dealer selling the recall kit used on these, cbwpr091aa - wiring - fuel pump relay. I installed the fuel pump relay and all is better now. I just hope there is not more to this issue.

3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2016

My airbag light would come on and go off randomly. I took it back to my dealer and it was stated that it was an issue with in the wiring but not an issue with the airbag. Now my airbag light has been on for over a month. I checked recalls and see there is a recall on 2011-2012 Dodge Grand Caravans for the driver side airbag randomly deploying yet nothing for my VIN. I drive my children around in this vehicle and if the driver side or either side was to randomly deploy. . . . This is a catastrophe waiting to happen!!!.

4 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2016

Dodge dealership finally diagnosed my faulty tipm in my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. I bought the vehicle new and started having starting issues while parked at about 15k miles all the way up to present mileage of 70k miles. Originally when the key was turned in the ignition I would get nothing, just a very quick half turn of the motor (no true cranking). This strange electrical short would self resolve after 15 minutes and then caravan would startup. This issue progressively became more frequent as the miles were added racked up on the vehicle. Now at 70k miles the caravan will only crank but not start up. When it does start it will stutter and then stall out. Eventually I will be able to get it to start but it will feel hesitant at times while driving it. This hard start has been occurring almost time I try to drive the vehicle now. The dealership was finally able to replicate it now at 70k miles (because it is a guaranteed to occur) as opposed to when it was very intermittent and unpredictable. Of course now that I'm out of warranty it will cost me $1400 for a new tipm or the other option proposed is to cut my electrical wiring and solder a standalone relay to bypass the internal relay inside the faulty tipm at a rate of $500. As evidenced by internet research, this issue is rampant across the Chrysler/Dodge product line and I'm surprised that this is not a voluntary recall already. I see that it is in litigation at the moment as a class action lawsuit.

5 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2015

Van would crank but would not start. After several attempts it started but ran erratic. After driving van for ~20 minutes van began to hesitate while driving at 55 mph on a state highway. I researched problem on internet and noticed other with a similar problem. I also noticed Chrysler announced a recall on 2011 Dodge durango and Jeep grand cherokee suvs for a very similar problem but not for the Grand Caravan. The root cause of the problem appears to be the fuel pump relay in the tipm. I discussed the problem with my local Chrysler dealership and the service adviser indicated that he was aware of the recall and had also seen the similar issue on vans. The dealership bypassed the relay using mopar part cbwpr091aa wiring - fuel pump relay. Part was $18. 88 and total bill with labor was $176. 00. The van appears to be operating normally at this time.

6 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2011

Check engine light came on in early December. Dealer reset the error code and said it was probably nothing. Light came back on a few days later so we brought back to the dealer - the consulted with Chrysler and replaced the cam phasers and said that should fix the problem. Within a couple of days the check engine light and traction control light both came on and the car lost all ability to accelerate. Driving on highway at 70mph, gas pedal to the ground did nothing and car coasted to 50mph before it would lurch forward and coast back down and eventually corrected itself but lights remained on. Dealer consulted with Chrysler again and they replaced the cam phaser sensors and said that should fix it. Within a few days same thing happened, driving on highway, check engine and traction control light turned on and car lost all acceleration and coasted down to 50mph and would lurch forward and then cost down - rpms wouldn't go above 1300rpm and couldn't get acceleration back. Took car back to dealer (fortunately was only a few miles from the dealer) and they had it for 2 weeks and Chrysler recommended replacing both wiring harnesses and that should fix the problem. Within a week, same problem, driving on highway at 70mph - check engine and traction control light comes on, no ability to accelerate or maintain speed, car coasted down to 50mph and would lurch forward and cost back down. Returning car to dealer again (mid February). Quite dangerous to (repeatedly) loose acceleration and with no ability to maintain speed when driving at 70mph on a highway.
