On 3/29/2013 my daughter and her fiance were using my van, fiance was the driver. He hit a 200+lb rock that was partially in the road. This sent him off the road where he hit a partially buried rock wall from the 1600's, this sent them airborne scraping some trees along the way. They landed about 20 feet away, nose down into another section of rock wall, also buried. This launched them further up the embankment causing it to be lodged on a stump. There was over 8,000 in damage, the front bumper was all messed up. The airbags did not deploy. Only one seatbelt locked causing injury to my daughter when her face slammed off of the top glove box, not once, but twice. I have serious concerns about the safety of the vehicle. I have small grandchildren that ride in my van on a regular basis. I have voiced my concerns to my insurance claim rep, the adjuster, the body shop, my dealership and Dodge itself. All I'm looking for is a straight answer on why this happened. If the airbags shouldn't have deployed because of the type of accident, ok, tell me why, but that seatbelt failure, that's a major deal. I cannot accept it's a fluke, or could be, or I don't know. This is my family. I love my van but with no one willing to help me get answers I just don't want it.

I was driving on the highway at 60 mph, hit a large (approx 6 feet x 4 feet x 4 feet) wooden shipping crate. The crate exploded, and a board became lodged in the tire well and engine compartment. I also lost power the vehicle - the wrecker driver advised that the board appeared to have disconnected the computer wires. The crate hit on the front driver fender. The airbags did not deploy. I would think hitting something the size of the front end of a car at 60 mph should set off the air bags.

Also, the contact mentioned that the buttons on the steering wheel would not work. The contact had notified the dealer and they stated that the failure might be due to a defective clock spring and if a crash occurred, the air bag could potentially not deploy. Apparently a faulty airbag sensor light means that possibly airbags may not deploy in a collision or accident. I have contacted the dealer from where I purchased the vehicle and also check for recalls via the internet and according to the VIN # , it is not listed, but over 300,000 2005 Grand Caravans have. Why not mine?.

Major front end crash air bag did deploy? $12,900 damage. My son was diving. On 2/6/2013 another front end crash $10,500 damage air bag did not deploy. I was diving, now I am concern. Sent a e-mail complaint to Dodge? very general response to my complaint, I could see their were not concerned. Is this a major problem for the Dodge Grand Caravan. I have no faith in this vehicle anymore. When I get the van back, I will trade-in for better safer van.

I was involved in a major front end head on coliision and my airbags failed to deploy. My husband was a passenger and hit the windsheild. I was told by the garage where it was towed to that if my airbags had deployed they would have totaled my van out due to the extensive damage to the front end. On 12/25/2010 my family and I was driving in our 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan sport, VIN # [xxx]. We slide on ice and snow going down a hill and at about 35-40 mph we smashed into a tree head on. Both airbags failed to deploy and both front seat belts did not lock. Lucky no big injuries. The whole front end, metal bar, radiator, hood and frame were all damaged. I was driving at 55 mph,when a deer ran in front of me and I struck it. I did not have time to hit my brakes, and I hit the deer at full speed, square on with the front of my 2007 Dodge caravan. It broke my front bumper, radiator, a/c condenser, headlight, fender, etc. Although I hit the deer at 55 mph, my airbags did not deploy. I had my seatbelt on, but still suffered a bad whiplash and strained back.

My 2006 model year Dodge Grand Caravan has had the airbag light lit for several months now. The Dodge dealership in my area claims there was a recall for 2005 model year only, despite the fact that the 2006 model Grand Caravan is virtually identical to the 2005 model vehicle. My vehicle developed this airbag problem when it was only 2 years old. This is a serious safety issue, given the fact that the airbags will not deploy in the event of a collision. It should be fixed at no cost to the consumer under a recall.

I am writing about what I feel was a severe airbag malfunction. I was in a crash that was high enough impact to total my rental vehicle. . . Smash the front windshield, and turn the front end of the vehicle into an accordion; moreover, the accident could have ended my life. I escaped with torn muscles in my shoulders, hairline cracks in my front teeth and a broken collar bone. As the driver, I am highly suspicious about the airbags not deploying in such a high impact incident. The incident occurred when a motorist ran a redlight and ran into the front drivers side of my vehicle. Where all the other motorist in the accident had airbags deploy, the police and emergency crews were amazed that the vehicle did not respond differently in the accident.

Nhtsa action number : pe05061 July 11, 2008 my mother and I were in a crash involving the front passenger side of the vehicle. The impact did about $5,000 worth of damage yet the airbags did not deploy. I am concerned it has to do with this investigation into defective sensors. How can I be sure my vehicle is safe?.

Air bag light comes on intermittently. This has been going on for at least three years. I took it to my mechanic who said there was a recall on my model but only up to year 2000(figures). Mechanic replaced "clockspring" but problem persists. Mechanic said if light on during an impact, air bags will not deploy. I suppose someone must die or file suit before anything is done for all of us 2001 caravan owners. A recall to fix this should definitely be considered / instituted!.

My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan I believe has a defect in the clock spring. I received a letter stating there has been an extended warranty for the front air-bag sensor control module. Two weeks after I received this letter the air-bag light came on. After approximately 3 weeks after the light came on the horn stopped working along with all the other steering wheel components (cruise control, radio control). I took my van to the dealership to get it fixed under the extended warranty , they told me there was nothing they could do because the clock spring in the steering wheel had corroded and broke and that is what is causing this defect. My van's mileage just turned 70,000. I use my van to transport my 3 kids in and feel this is a safety hazard that needs to be fixed right away. Not only do the steering wheel components not work but the driver airbag is disabled as well due to this malfunction. Due to this defect there needs to be a recall issued as soon as possible before an accident occurs and the airbag does not deploy. There has been a recall on the clock spring for the make and model of my van for years 96-98 and feel this is the same thing that is happening to my 05 van. Please help before anyone gets hurt.

The airbag light is on due to a corroded sensor. The left sensor failed while under warranty and was replaced by Chrysler. The right sensor went out at 40k and is currently being repaired. It seems like these sensors are prone to failure, and I have much concern that that the airbags might not be deployed when in an accident.

The air bag light appears randomly on and off. According to my mechanic, if the light is on and there is a crash, the air bags will not deploy. I think this is a very serious issue. I had the clock spring replaced by my mechanic, and all was well for about a week and then it started all over again. Also, failure speed is random.
