Was on vacation and when I returned from a 9 day trip my car, which had not been drove at all, the drivers side head rest had popped out. This is part of the air bag system. That happened July 2023. September 13, 2023 at 6:01 pm I was driving down the road and my passenger head rest popped out hitting my daughter in the back of the head. The noise it made scared me to death. I am no longer covered under any type of warranty and now expected to pay for something that is a manufactured defect.

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure due to the warning light no longer being illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. On another occasion while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated again. The vehicle was towed back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the air bag and the driver’s side seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage as approximately 70,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that after reversing out of a parking space and then coasting to exit the parking lot, suddenly the driver-side and passenger-side airbags were deployed. The airbags within both the driver and passenger seat deployed as well. All occurred without any impact or crash. The dealer was made aware of the failure but had not diagnosed the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure was 113,626.

The driver side automatic headrest randomly deployed while we were driving down the highway. Thankfully the driver was leaning forward and did not receive the full force of the blow. It appears the plastic brackets inside are shattered. I called our dealer, their response was basically tough luck. I am trying to find a non-ahd replacement headrest as our teenage son drives this van and unexpected deployment can lead to concussion, cause accidents, etc. If Dodge is aware of the issue, why has no recall been issued?.

The transmission failed at just under 60k miles. Our air bag sensor light is now coming on and not sure why. I don’t have the money to continue to repair this vehicle plus make payments. We also have had issues with the front bolts on the driver side continuing to loosen.

I was loading my dog into the driver's side door of my Grand Caravan when I heard a pop next to my head. When I started looking around I discovered that my driver's seat headrest had split apart. I was seconds away from driving. This just happened this morning before work so I have not had a chance to take it to a dealership. There were no warning lights prior to this event.

The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger's side air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the passenger's side air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 93,164.

Front driver head on collision passenger curtain airbags failed to deploy and passenger front air bag exploded also third row drivers side passenger seat belt failed. Passenger flew to passenger side of seat and head shattered window and sustained head injuries which could've possibly been prevented by curtain air bag deployment 55mph head on collision driverside focused due to veering vehicle hasn't been inspected by insurance company yet only personal mechanic.

The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,501.

I brought . My car to the dealership and they told me the airbags had an active code in the harness wiring in the driver's seat and wanted 1000 dollars to repair or rebuild the harness. They didn't have a replacement harness available and said the part did not exist so they would have to custom build one. They said it was not under warranty because I have48,000 miles on my car. I can not believe that a safety issue involving the airbag operation would not be covered by the manufaturer. I really need help.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear drivers’ side moving the vehicle approximately 5ft. The air bags failed to deploy. As a result, the contact and his son sustained soreness in the neck. Medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was damaged and towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.

On 12/10/22 the passenger side curtain and squib airbags deployed with no collision of any kind. I was picking up my disabled partner, who is under 5' and under 90 lb. I believe she would have been at significant risk of harm were she already in the van. On 12/12/22, I took the van to where we purchased it. The van is braunability modified with an accessible ramp, the back seats removed, and it sits much lower to the ground than the unmodified van. First, I was told that they found evidence of a collision. I had long known of that damage: I had ran over a curb several years before, and, because of the modifications, the van tends to scrape on acute inclines, a problem they said at the time of purchase would sounds scary but was harmless. I was told that the tiny hole in the metal frame under the van "exposed the sensor" and that deployed the airbags. I knew this false, but since that indicates a defect, I wanted it explicitly on their report. Instead, a manager came out and said she had completely misunderstood what the braunability rep had said. He calmed that riding up a curb was sufficient to deploy the curtain and thorax airbags, but conceded that they couldn't say when the rusted-over damage occurred. Still, I did not run over a curb: I was in the left lane of a two-lane, one-way road and the old damage was on the passenger's side. They suggested filing an insurance claim, but that would put others at risk if the defect isn't limited to our van. There were no warning lights, messages, discernible symptom before the failure. I'm uncertain how to proceed. Should I go to a Chrysler dealership?.

Airbag light is constantly on. Took vehicle to a repair shop. They scanned code b1c27-13 and found that drivers side wiring harness needs to be replaced. They contacted Chrysler and was told part wouldn't be available for at least a year. Airbags will not deploy if an accident should occur. This is a definite safety issue that should be fixed immediately.

The contact owned a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at 25-35 mph with someone in the front passenger seat a semi truck crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle spun seven times and continuously hit the concrete barriers on each side of the highway. The contact stated that body of the vehicle shifted 5 inches away from the frame. The air bags deployed but were deflated. The contact became unconscious temporarily and upon regaining consciousness, he noticed that he was laying flat in the front driver's seat as the seat had fractured into two. The contact also noticed that the driver's seatbelt had snapped. The contact was able to exit the vehicle with the assistance of emergency units and the fire department. The contact was transported to the hospital by emergency units. The contact sustained consistent middle back pain that would sometimes cause him to crawl instead of walking, numbness on both legs, consistent headaches, impaired vision. The other passenger sustained a seatbelt mark and trauma. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard where it was totaled. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 13v291000 (air bags). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving approximately 6 mph and crossing a railroad track, the driver's side front and driver's side rear passenger’s side air bags deployed. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the police were on scene and filed a police report. The contact stated that the air bags deployed with force and damaged the side sliding door. The contact stated that the sliding door could not be opened. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that his insurance provider was sending an appraiser to inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

When attempting to start the vehicle, ignition key inadvertently moves into the "off" position, turning the engine off suddenly. If this safety issue occured while driving, it would depower various key systems including the airbags, power steering, and power braking. In the event of a crash following an accidental rotation of the key, the airbags would fail to deploy causing serious injury or death. The dealership is aware of this problem now and confirms this is a significant safety issue, but that their hands are tied unless crystler helps. L25 is the known safety recall for the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravans- build dates 3months less than ours- July 2010 verses oct. 2010. With our Dodge experiencing the same issue and safety concerns as the recalled ones, we then called crystler at (800) 853-1403 to report the issue and advocate for the repair and/or extension of the recall. An employee named myah said "there's nothing we can do b/c recall is VIN specific and doesn't show yours as being recalled for this issue". I asked to speak with a supervisor to further discuss how to get the recall extended to our VIN, as the same safety issue is occuring, and the rep was very dismissive and told me "they were sorry they could not help and "no one is available at this time". I told her I didn't mind waiting on hold so the issue could be properly reported and addressed with a supervisor. She put me on hold again and then said "a supervisor can call you when they are available", but then she did not even ask for my phone number. I do not trust that she was acting in our best interest and feel she was being negligant. No one has called back. Please help. We are writing to #1) inform you of this safety issue #2) inform you of the known recall to address this safety issue- does not currently extend to our manufacture month #3) report crystlers negligence in responding to this safety issue #4) to respectfully request a safety investigation should our VIN not be added to this.

The passenger sliding door open and closes with no warning, hatch opens and closes with no warning, dogs were closed in and died due to this malfunction because they thought we were going somewhere. Horn goes off and on for no reason, ac in rear does comes on and off. Drivers side sliding door does not operate at this point. Now transmission is malfunction.

56k miles and transmission needed to be replaced on my 2016 Dodge caravan. Immediately following my airbag light went on as well as my engine light. There was a recall on certain transmissions built. They need to look into it further.

I hit a deer; air bag light came on but the air bags did not deploy.

The airbag is malfunctioning and sending aa fault to the dashboard. My safety is at risk because if I’m in a accident and the airbags might not deploy. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer yet or inspected by the manufacturer. Yes the warning lamp appeared 48 hours ago.

Sensor in the passenger seat is defective and will cause the air bag light to intermittently come on leaving the passenger without air bags during an accident. All defects / warning lights dealing with air bags or any other safety feature on a vehicle, regardless of year, should be looked at immediately by dealers when the vehicle is brought into the dealership. These are major safety defects and if the dealership cannot inspect / and safely repair the vehicle during that visit, then a loaner car should be issued to the vehicle owner until the vehicle is repaired. Maybe this will help the oems make consumer safety a priority instead of maximizing profitability of a component by using cheap inferior products that may save . 0001 cent per unit sold.

The contact owns a 2018dodge Grand Caravan sxt. The contact stated that his air bag light illuminates intermittently. The contact stated that it stays on if the doors are open , and when he is driving. The contact stated that he hears a warning sound when the light is illuminated. The contact stated he has not contacted the dealer nor manufacturer , but plans to do so. The mileage failure was 37,690.

The contact owned a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, her brakes failed to operate without warning as she rear ended another vehicle. The passenger side airbag deployed upon impact; however, the driver side air bag failed to deploy. The contact was taken from the scene to a hospital and was treated for bruising to both knees and her chest. No other injuries were reported from the accident. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was deemed a total loss. A VIN search showed there were two recalls on the vehicle; NHTSA campaign number: 14v234000(electrical system) and NHTSA campaign number: 20v396000(air bags, steering). The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.

The driver's side headrest has deployed on it's own while parked in a driveway and turned off. After inspection, the plastic brackets that retain the metal pin that is supposed to secure the headrest broke apart and released the headrest into a deployed position. This is a design flaw that should be recalled before someone becomes injured. The headrest is under a spring loaded force that the plastic was not engineered to restrain.

Airbag light came on and will not go off. Two separate cases. P066dd code causes check engine light to come on from ti. E to time.

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over and restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The front head rests contain a safety device that extends the head rest to support the head during a crash. We were unaware of this feature until the passenger head rest burst over a year ago. That was reported in a seperate incident report. We are still waiting for Dodge to repair the passenger head rest. Within the past couple weeks, the driver head rest burst open, while we were not in the vehicle. We did not notice the head rest was burst until my wife saw it from the side when I was driving it. She normally drives the vehicle.

The vehicle entered "limp home" mode on a busy highway. After a little research, I found out that this could be caused by a short in wiring. There was already a recall on this vehicle related to the wiring harnesses in the rear sliding doors. At the time, we were experiencing no issues, but took it anyway where we were told that everything was ok and as far as I know, no work was done to correct the potential defect. Subsequently that assembly has fallen apart on both sides and now we're left with a vehicle that repeatedly enters limp home mode often at very inconvenient times, triggering the wipers, as well as all the lights on the dashboard. We'd really like to know that this known issue can be fixed and that Chrysler/Dodge didn't actually put an expiration date on safety.
