We own a stow and go Grand Caravan, while stopping suddenly my two year old went flying forward still strapped in his 5 point car seat and still strapped to the vehicle seat using the latch system. He hit the front passenger seat where he rest screaming till I could push the seat back in place. He hurt his cheek and nose! I feel there should be some kind of warning that the seat was not engaged, seeings I never use this seat to enter the back seat I've never thought to check the status of the chair! now he is afraid to get into his car seat and I'm afraid that it could happen again as well. I'm so glad it wasn't an accident because I'm afraid he wouldn't be with us today. Please let me know what I can do to help this to never happen to us or anybody else.
We've experienced problems with the middle row integrated child safety seats. Several times, the tensioner on the seat would not work, and I had to pop the end of the seat back cover off to access the mechanism to free what the belt was caught on. I didn't completely remove the cover so I could see exactly what was happening. Also, sometimes the buckle will not secure the belt plate. It will secure after several attempts, and we've recently noticed that it works better if we latch a particular side first, then the other side (5 point harness). I don't know if the mechanism sticks or if food or something got forced inside. These have both been recurring problems since we purchased the vehicle.

The female end of the seat belt buckle in the integrated child safety crumbled into several pieces. We are worried that the other seat may have the same defect. Chrysler says that the warranty has expired and won't do anything about it. I would think they would be more concerned, especially sine the problem involves a child seat. ***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis***770772.
