Seat belts in middle row no longer latch. Tongue inserts but does not catch. Right rear seat belt often fails to feed enough belt out to permit buckling.

My daughter's five year old friend grabbed the shoulder belt to fasten her seat belt when the belt came loose from the side of the van. She was sitting on the passenger side of the third bench seat. Fortunately, the van was parked at the time, but I shudder to think what would have happened had she been wearing the belt and we got into an accident.

The contact stated while driving the vehicle the two year old child was able to unbuckle the seat belt due to its slack nature. The child was located in a booster seat secured by the seat belt in the second row seat on the driver's side. When checking the owner's manual the contact discovered it is a standard feature with the vehicle for the seat belt to allow some slack. The vehicle has not been inspected.

The caller's vehicle was involved in an accident at 25 mph and the rear driver's side seat belt did not hold her child. She took vehicle to dealer, and they said it will not catch. Manufacturer said they were going to look into it. The daughter chipped a tooth and where it hit her head, there was a bruise.

I am concerned as to the safety of the gen3 seatbelts in my Dodge Grand Caravan. I believe they should be replaced as unsafe but am forced to pay my dealer to do it.
On at least three separate occassions, my daughter's gen3 seat belt has unlatched with no apparant cause. My children are 2 1/2 and 4 and the soul purpose of buying the van was to help ensure their safety. If their belts are unlatching for no apparant reason, what will happen in a crash? they certainly will not be protected.

When involved in an accident my sons seat belt unlatched causing him to be thrown foward, luckly he survived the accident with only bumbs, cuts and bruises. The repair shop told me the belt seamed fine, but I have been bothered by this ever since and did my own research to discover that this is a know problem and they no longer use this type of buckle. Crysler refused to change my buckles to the new kind and I fear if in another accident it could be fatal.
The rear captain's chair passenger seat in a gold Dodge Grand Caravan at advantage rental car near the san antonio, texas airport has the seatbelt connection on the wrong side of the seat. It lookls like there are two left seats installed. I reported this to the inspector at the office and I'm told he tried to charge us $150 for damages not noted during pickup of the van.
I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan with unsafe seat belts in the rear. I want daimler-Chrysler to replace them at their expense ASAP!.
My seven year old daughter was exiting our 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan when her foot slipped through the safety belt strap. The strap was located next to the sliding door of the passenger side of the car. The strap was in it's storage position, but was clearly still in the way of her stepping past the middle passenger seat as she exited from the rear seat of the vehicle. Since the strap "looped" around her foot, she then tripped and tumbled out of the sliding door side of the vehicle. I witnessed everything--any taller: she would have struck her head on the door of the car. She actually fell out the sliding door area and scraped her arms pretty good. I was sure she must have broke both arms the way that she fell. But, we were lucky this time. There must be a better way to mount those safety straps to avoid this type of thing. When the passenger in the middle seat is strapped in, it is even worse as each passenger passing to the rear seats must walk over or under the straps as well. In this case, however, she was the only passenger and the "resting" strap still caught her leg as she exited the vehicle. Clearly not safe in my opinion. Just thought I'd pass this along.
The rear seat belt did not work. The dealer was notified. The rear seat belts did not catch when pulled out quickly. The front seat belts caught normally when jerked hard. The consumer requested a written reply.
I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan se with the middle child bench seats. My 4 year old son put his juice cup down between him and the infant seat buckled next to him. The juice cup hit the seat belt release for the infant seat and released it. This is very disturbing that this can happen. If I hadn't heard the click of the release , I would not have known my 4 month old daughter was unprotected.
