On April 18, 2014, consumer made an appointment at lithia Dodge in kennewick washington with the sole purpose to check to see if the air bag warning light on their 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan being on constantly was covered under the NHTSA recall 10v008000 "front airbag crash sensor failure". When consumer arrived for the appointment on April 21, 2014, the dealership indicated without looking at the vehicle or checking the VIN that the van may or may not be covered under the recall. They just didn't know. They could do a diagnostic on the vehicle, though: if the vehicle was covered under recall, the visit would be free. If the vehicle wasn't under recall, they would charge a $125 "diagnostic fee" to tell the consumer that it wasn't under recall. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired.

Driver side air bag warning light continually comes on for long and short periods of time. Most cases it stays on even after placing on seat belt. I believe the driver side air bag system is defective. This was on a previous recall a few years ago and corrected by the Dodge dealership. However, this warning light continues to stay on for five minutes or more and than goes out.
In April of 2013, the air bag warning light illuminated on the dashboard. Took it to the dealer to check. Found that the right sensor was not working properly and that there were "broken wires. " repaired the wiring and said that all was okay. I was charged over $220 for this repair. There was a 2007 recall for this issue and my car supposedly had the front sensors replaced at that time. Then, in June of 2014, the same air bag warning light appeared again. This time I researched recalls and found out that there was another recall in 2010 for this same issue. After contacting Chrysler services, I was told to go back to the dealer and they would perform the repair/replacement at no cost. After they performed the work, which they said again was a broken wire, I was charged another $200. They stated that it had nothing to do with sensor, just the wiring, and therefore was not covered by the recall. Just waiting to see when it will happen again.
Airbag warning light illuminates on startup, remains on, then turns off. Will come back on after a few minutes, then cycle on-off during normal driving. Light remains on more than off during driving. This looks like clockspring recall that effected 98-99 caravans, but no recall issued for this safety issue??.

On 12/24/1, on a smooth road, a warning bell sounded and the airbag warning light came on. The warning light stayed on for the next couple of hours. Then, the light went off and stayed off. The next time the vehicle was driven, the same thing happened, only this time the airbag warning light came on and off intermittently with no relation to speed, turning, breaking, bumpy road, etc.

While driving to the market my wife experienced a sudden shudder in the steering/brakes pulling the vehicle out of the driving lane towards the shoulder. She brought the vehicle to a stop of the shoulder. She noticed the esp/bas warning light and the slippery road/traction control warning light had both activated on the dash/instrument panel. We brought the vehicle to the dealer who informed us the steering angle/clockspring sensor which activates the drivers airbag had failed and needs replacement. According to the dealer the item is not covered under warranty and repair would cost a total of $508. Dodge recalled caravans 1996-2000 for a similar issue. We have already had to replace all the brakes, for what was termed premature whereout, at approx 22,000 miles. We had to replace the electronic keys which both crumbled after the 3rd year. What's next???? any help in this situation would be much appreciated.

The dealer and manufacturer advised the contact that the VIN was not associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 11v394000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module) recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated and the front air bags deployed unexpectedly. As a result, the contact sustained minor injuries from the knee to the lower leg area. The air bag malfunction occurred without any impact to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where an independent inspector examined the vehicle. The preliminary diagnostic report indicated that the failure was related to the electronic control module and was not due to a manufacturer's defect. Also, the computer detected that the air bag warning indicator illuminated for over two hundred and fifty driving hours. The contact stated that the warning light was illuminated for no longer than five minutes, and the information in the preliminary report was false, in regards to the operational hours of the air bag warning light. After three weeks, the vehicle was still in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 55,000.
On 6/27/11 the air bags deployed in our 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan for no reason while the vehicle was being driven at about 25 mph. The driver had minor injuries. Chrysler has refused to repair the vehicle at their cost and have given us a repair quote of about $4000. 00. Chrysler told us thatthe airbag warning light was on for 250 driving hours before the incident, but that is completely false. They will not release the report to us. At this point, the vehicle has not yet been repaired. After the incident, we were told about a previous airbag recall on some 2006 Grand Caravans. After the incident, the 2008 Grand Caravans were also recalled for unexpected airbag deployment.

Airbag sensor in front of 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan failed (warning light went on) and had to be replaced. Mechanic said the sensor connections were corroded due to exposure to water. I own a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt that I bought new. It has 54044 miles and the airbag warning light comes on the dash board. I researched the problem and found a recall for the airbag sensor dated 01/11/2010. I checked with Dodge, was told that my vehicle was not part of the recall, even though I'm experiencing the same problem listed in the airbag recall dated 01/11/2010. I live in upstate new york. My vehicle is exposed to road salt due to the large volume of snow we receive here. I'm not sure why my vehicle isn't covered under this recall.

: the contact stated the air bag warning light stays illuminated. The light occasionally goes off, but when the contact hits a bump in the road, the light illuminates again. The dealership determined the clock spring was bad. There is an NHTSA recall, # 04v480000, regarding the air bags. I purchased a pre-owned 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan from the original owner. It had about 32000 miles on it. At about 40000 miles the air bag warning light began to come on and then go off on an intermittent basis. At about 41500 miles the air bag light was on most of the time. The local Dodge dealer said the problem was in the wiring harness for the air bag system. The diagnosis cost $88. 00. The wiring harness replacement part cost about $10. 00. The labor to replace the part cost about $213. 00. Total cost about $310. It seems that this is a frequent problem in the Chrysler/Dodge vehicle's air bag system, because the part carried instructions for the 2002-2006 model years. This is not a wear item, but instead it is a manufacturing defect in the wiring system and/or it's connectors. The consumer should not have to pay for defective parts. The consumer pays for a vehicle that is supposed to be of good quality and equipped with safety systems that are reliable and well constructed. The manufacturer should be responsible for replacing these defective parts.
My 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan warning light came for the airbag. I also lost the cruise control and the horn. This all happened on 11/4/05. I started up the car and then all the warning lights came on. I contacted the local Dodge dealer because this also happened to my friends Dodge. The dealer stated this happens a lot on this model and the repair is around 150 dollars. I was wondering if you had a recall or received any other complaint on this matter. Thank you in advanced.
After starting the vehicle air bag warning light stayed illuminated until the vehicle was shut off. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. . . . . Also, right side sliding door was hard to open manually. Dealer determined that door motor needed to be replaced.
