On March 6, 2014 I drove off the lot of eastchester Chrysler Jeep Dodge llc #1352682 located on 4007 boston road bronx,NY. We enjoy driving our 2010 Journey until October 19th 14 @ 5pm on the I 95 drivng 55 mph the vehicle started to stall leaving me at the entrance of exit 15 with on coming traffic driving 50-55 mph exiting. I had a 2 yr old and 13 yr old in vehicle and was sitting on highway for 2 hours waiting for tow truck. The car wouldn't start or go into gear. On Wednesday, October 22, 2014 it was towed for the second time to eastchester Chrysler Jeep Dodge and on the 23, I was advised by the service department and informed that the two recalls were done (l25 and k37) on March 15, 2014 but the vehicle was in my possession on March 6, 2014. Upon returning to the sales office I was informed that because of the backlog in paperwork there is a discrepancy in dates of when the work was completed. A salesperson advised me the the tipm and battery need to be replaced and the cost is $1153 plus tax. October 24, 2014 a recall for (p54) was put into effect. Why an I being held responsible to pay for parts and labor for a part being recalled.

40 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2014

Three to four days per week the car will not start. Turn the key and you get nothing but a click. I have only owned the vehicle for 2 months and it has done it since the very beginning. Have had the dealership and a private mechanic look it over and they have found nothing. It sounds very similar to the issue being corrected by recall now. Although this vehicle, so far, has not stalled while driving thank god. Am not happy that my "new to me" car is so unreliable.

41 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

Just like many 2009 and 2010 Journey owners, I too have experienced the vehicle not turning over to start. It has happened approximately 2 dozen times in the past 2 months at random. Sometimes the vehicle will not start 3 times in one day and then the problem will not occur for another week. Once the key is in the ignition and I turn it, I have battery power, it simply will not push through to actually start the vehicle. This is very irritating and I have not been able to duplicate for the dealer so of course they will do nothing for me. I also have noticed that on the freeway, when getting above 60 the steering wheel feels shaking which is quite terrifying and then if I go to break, it feels very wobbly. Again, not something that I can reproduce at the dealer and therefore cannot be fixed. I loved my car for the first couple years I owned it, but lately it is not up to par and worries me to drive with my 2 kids in fear of the unpredictable steering issue or being stranded if it decides to not start at all.

42 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2014

The vehicle would not start after sitting for a few hours. We had driven the vehicle all day. We have had this issue before but when using the backup key. Thought maybe this was the issue it was not. I used the keys my wife uses every day. This is becoming a big issue now. When it was intermittent and would start it was ok but it is becoming more frequent. We live in a rural area and my wife drives 40 minutes to work every day. If this issue happens when she is at work there will be nothing we can do about it. I am paying alot of money for this vehicle and need Chrysler to figure out what this problem is and issue a recall as I can see that I am not the only one with this issue. It is gonna end up costing me alot of money I dont have. I will be honest if they cant fix the issue I will not be able to pay for towing and will not be able to make the payments if this issue is not resolved and I have to pay to have it looked at. I have an extended warranty on the vehicle which is up in 3000 miles. At 200 miles back and forth to work and running 2 teenage kids around that will not be long, Chrysler needs to figure out this issue now before someone gets killed. Where my wife works is not the best part of town and it is all expressway driving at high speeds. If this issue turns into the stalling on the highway she could easily be killed in rush hour driving. I am not the only one with this problem. Fyi had the brakes done too. Funny since it is all highway driving.

45 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2013

My first complaint is that if my husband or myself accidentally hit the ignition switch while the car is in motion the car will shut off. In addition if this happens before we start driving the car will shut off and the dash board, the center console and the ac will all shut off. I have informed Dodge of this problem twice and have not gotten any correspondance in return. During the second call I was informed that if I did not have a recall notice sent to me that my car is not apart of any active recalls and therefore they cannot do anything for me. Secondally, just recently on 10/16/2014 while I was trying to take my 7 year old son to the er, my car would not start. I thought it could be the battery, but the lights and everything else was working. After several attempts and after me tapping the ignition switch the car finally started. Everything in the car comes on however, the car makes a clicking noise and does nothing else. A week later it did the same exact thing on 10/22/14. I looked online and all behold there are several complaints going back to 2009 there are also youtube videos. My question is why is Dodge not being held responsible for there negligence, cleary there is a known issue. What tragedy has to happen before Dodge does something to resolves these issues for their customers. I would also like to add that the Dodge Journey is by far the worst car that Dodge has ever produced!.

49 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

Vehicle was running and suddenly lost all electrical power. Car was moved to shoulder of roadway and I turned the engine off. The engine didn't want to restart. When engine did restart car ran normal for about 1 month. This has happened about 5 times from 6/13 to 10/14. Dealer can not find the problem. Ignition is not on recall list for this particular VIN. I had dealer replace ignition on 10/14 and had to purchase two additional keys because the old keys could not be programmed to the new ignition switch.

52 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2012

I bought this vehicle in 2010. I have now had 5 times where the vehicle will not start. I will be running errands and then get in the vehicle to start it and all it does is click. I've tried to jump it but it will not work. If you wait 3-4 hours it most likely will start. During several of these times, I've had my kids with me. The car needed to be towed and by the time the service men will start it, it starts right up. They did switch out my keys a few times, but it just happened again this weekend. I was stranded in a different city with no ride. The dealership / service repair man has no idea what the cause is. You don't know when this is gong to happen. This vehicle is not reliable and it is unsafe. If you look online and search this problem with this vehicle you will find 100's of complaints.

53 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2012

A continuing failure to start. Following a electrical system recall my 2010 Journey has failed to start on occasion and became a problem, creating at times a risk of being in the wrong place. We have so little confidence in this vehicle, we no longer drive after dark. When refueling, I don't shut the car off. (safety issue) however; it should be known that setting the alarm system, then triggering the system and putting the fob into the ignition to clear alarm, vehicle has started each time. The dealer thinks I should pay to have a computer check the system. Based on other stories posted both here and on, just answer web sight a computer would be of no value.

57 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2012

I stopped at mcdonald's on my way to work, came out of mcdonald's went to start my car, had no power at all. My husband came and he tried to jump start it, and that did not work, had the car towed to a dealer, they tried to jump start it and it would not start. They pushed the car into the building and could not find anything wrong, and for some reason they left the key in the on position, and about 4 hours later with no one around the car, the car started all by itself. That problem was never fixed. Three different times after that, my car would not shut off when you turn the car off. Now 3 times this week my car would not start again, and it is in the dealership, and I am 487 mile out of warranty and don't know if Chrysler is going to pay for it. Had to agree to pay $100. 00 fee for them to check it out. We have 3 2010 Journey's in our family, and all are having problems. I feel there should be a recall for this. After great research, we found thousands with the same problem. How come there is no recall? lobbyist in washington? win module!!!!.

58 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

After having the vehicle for less than a year it began to not start at times. Everything comes on in the car, when key turned it makes a clicking sound but does not start. It will not start using the keyless start or by jump starting it. Car was taken into dealer and a recall was found on the ignition which was corrected. However the vehicle still does this intermittently and has for the last 3 years. It can go months without doing it. However has recently been doing this daily. It is very frustrating and can sometimes vary between minutes and hours of starting. Once it starts there are not any additional electrical problems. This makes the car very unreliable and unsafe as it could occur in a situation of needing to leave an area quickly or in an emergency situation. I am a single mom and have only one vehicle. If called into work while "on call" status I have only 30 minutes to arrive. Which is a frustrating and a worry some situation when the car will not start immediately. I cannot be without my car while the dealer tries several things to fix it nor can I afford to try various problem fixes when obviously with the numerous complaints there is an internal problem which should constitute a recall. I am still paying on this vehicle and owe over $12,000. 00 which creates additional frustration as the vehicle is unreliable and creating unsafe situations.

59 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2011

I have had to replace front and rear brakes on this vehicle at a huge expense and the poor stopping ability caused premature wear of my tires which also had to be replaced at a large expense. Also, on multiple occasions my vehicle will not crank when the key is turned. The lights, radio, and windows continue to work, ruling out the battery as the cause. You can hear a "click" when the key is turned but the car remains dead. I have been stranded in dangerous situations when this has happened. Each time the vehicle has been taken to service, no remedy is made as I am told that the problem can not be duplicated. The vehicle is currently in for repair with the same issue. I have asked to have the electrical system checked because I have had issues with multiple bulbs blowing out, (all at the same time), one window not raising or lowering from the passenger button only and a multitude of other quirky, electrical items. I feel that this vehicle is unsafe .

60 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

The car first would stall while driving losing all power, a plastic piece was installed to hold key after several complaints. Shortly after the vehicle would not start at all on several occasions leaving me stranded this happened for almost a year more often than not and I was told by the dealerships there is no recall and I would need to pay to replace the ignition which I had to finally do when the vehicle would no longer start at all in January of 2012, I now have a new ignition which was supposed to fix the problem and have still been experiencing the same problems about a month after I replaced the ignition and keys which I had to pay extra for a second key it is getting back to the way it was before I replaced the ignition taking me 30 mins to start my car today, all the power comes on the engine will just not turn over. This car is become very unreliable for a working mother, I never know if I'll be able to just get in my car and go or if I'll have to leave my car somewhere over night and come back and hope it starts again. Please help!!.
