3 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 12/22/2014

As I was turning into a subdivision a loud knocking noise followed by a squeal and my engine completely shut down and seized. I have a little over 83,000 miles on my 2009 Dodge Journey. There were no indications of any problems. It was one of the quietest vehicles I have ever owned, and this happened out of no where. The shop has informed us that the engine is completely seized and needs to be replaced. The mechanic has not seen such silvery oil in a long time. This comes across like a manufacture error such as your recall for the rod bearing in your 2012. Can someone please investigate this. I just made my third payment on this vehicle, and now I am without a vehicle, after owning it for 87 days at the time of incident. An oil change was done approximately 1000 miles prior to the incident and there were absolutely no warning signs. We need our vehicle, and it is going to cost $4000 to fix, and we still owe over $10,000 because we purchased it on September 25, 2014 and this happened on December 22, 2014. This has to be a manufacturing issue. Please advise as to what to do to have this fixed.

4 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

I just bought this car in July 2014 used with 56,000 miles on it. And I already had it in the shop just in the beginning of August because there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. It sounded like a normal "morning knock" but it was always there and when you drove it sounded worse. I have not started my car all day today, then when I went to go somewhere I tried to start my car and it just gave me tick noises it would not turn over. I know the battery wasn't dead because the car door was open and there was the ding noises and the lights were all on in the car when the doors were open. Now I have gotten the vehicle to turn over, but with a 1 year old I am terrified to drive my almost new car! I need something fixed.

5 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

I could not set the cruise control without hitting the steering wheel. Once I got the cruise control set to 75 mph I could not get it to turn off. I hit the brakes 5 times before it would decelerate. Once the cruise control turned off there was a sudden hard shift on the engine and a loud knocking sound.

6 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 05/21/2014

For a while now, randomly my Journey will get stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear after taking off. I will have to stop, put it in park, shut off the engine and restart it for it to reset itself. The steering wheel shakes when applying the breaks, but I've have a complete new set of brakes put on it, rotors and new calipers in the front. The brakes also make a knocking sound. I also got a complete set of tires and they seem to be wearing quicker than normal. I have had 3 different shops look at the breaks for a diagnoses and all of them say that the right parts on it and they don't see and reason for the noises.

8 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Rotors and brakes went out at 36,000 and had to be replaced due to being too small for the vehicle. Of course this was just out side of warranty. Recall was called after we replaced them. Went out again at 45,000 and again at 85,000. I had a knocking noise from under neath and took it in and it was covered under power train. Had to take it in again at 40,000 knocking noise again and luckily it covered under power train. At 45,000 my Journey wouldn't start and just didn't know when it would start 30 minutes to an hour. This has happened several times and was told it was the key ignition control and that they are back logged and couldn't replace it but charged $100 for diagnostic again and have had to take it in again since. At 75,000 I was left stranded due to over heating and had to take it in again and it was the temperature control sensor. Brakes went out again at 95,000 and now at 107,00 the check engine light is on and did a diagnostic and it's the throttle runner control is stuck open and unable to get it in until a week later due to the dealer to busy. I think this has gone on to long with these Dodge Journeys and it's time for some recalls on them. I will never but a Dodge again!.
