The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Journey. While driving 40 mph, an odor emitted into the vehicle coming from the engine. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and noticed smoke and liquid coming from the upper radiator, which melted the valve. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 11v487000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact stated that the upper radiator hose replacement caused the engine to fail. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.
