While driving the steering wheel locked up and the brakes stopped working, the engine was still running. Breaks were extremely hard to press and was not able to turn the steering wheel at all. Was able to coast to a stop and place the car in park. Once I stopped I placed the car in park, turned off the car and restarted it and worked fine.
On Monday, August 16, 2021, I was driving towards a busy intersection when my steering wheel was all of a sudden unable to turn in either direction. I stopped the vehicle before merging on the busy intersection, which my next destination was I-80. My safety was very much at risk due to this as if it would have failed on I-80, myself or my children could have been severely injured as well as other drivers. I had the vehicle towed to a local dealership (greenway motors) and they inspected the vehicle and initially found that the power steering pump was broken and there was metal debris that would need to be flushed but that when they start the repair, more than likely the debris would also be in the steering gears. They said the vehicle was no longer under a warranty for this issue. Based on their inspection, the cost they stated for the repair I could not afford so I contacted an auto repair shop locally (ewerts). I had the vehicle towed to that location on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Ewerts informed me that when replacing the power steering pump and flushing the lines, they did find metal debris also in the steering gears. The vehicle is currently still in repair at ewerts. The estimated repair cost is now roughly $1,600. 00 there were no warning lights or messages on the vehicle prior to this incident.

While driving I heard a strange engine noise while accelerating ,then the crankshaft, the serpentine belt came off,the steering wheel came rigid or stiff before the battery warning sign goes on with a big oil leak, the car then stopped.
Power steering ruptured and leaking, happens when weather became colder. Already a known issue with other models. Please find a solution I'm very upset that I have a 2018, 30,000 miles that has been parked for weeks due to a issue that has not been properly fixed.
When driving the vehicle steering will lock up, lose power and lose brakes. Have to force to turn and use emergency brakes to stop the car. Not the first time it's now has happen a total of 5 times.
Our car has a loss of power steering assist that requires extra steering effort, especially at lower speeds and when turning or parking. The steering wheel is almost completely stiff and cannot be turned without using excessive force to turn the wheel. Power steering work fairly well on freeways (probably due to higher speed). I cannot drive the car because the risk of crashing seems pretty high due to the inability to steer.
My vehicle was in motion on a city street when suddenly my steering wheel locked and brake were hard to push causing me to side swipe a parked car.
Steering not working; very difficult to turn, especially to the right. Since 30k miles the power steering has increased in getting louder and louder. We complained to the dealership in 2016. They checked it and said every thing was fine, Chrysler says it's just loud that's all. We've been living with this horrible noise for years. It's even louder when it gets colder outside. As it gets louder, the steering becomes more difficult to steer. Yesterday, when pulling onto the highway from a stop sign, the power steering all but quit turning to the right. Intermittent when turning left. The vehicle has 93k on it now and it is too dangerous to drive.
When turning to the left the power steering goes out and sometimes comes right back . In which all of a sudden the car snapes to the left violently. This happen on the highway, as well as city streets.
Power steering return hose broke off causing no steering. Clock spring in steering wheel broke causing horn to go off by itself and air bag warning light to stay on.
I was driving last night up a two lane street and all of a sudden my airbags deploy. I noticed my airbag light came on a few days ago but it turned back off yesterday. When the airbags deployed my car shifted causing it to hit the curb a little. I was able to shift the car to the right and park it but the entire car shut off. I need my car fixed and dont know how to do this.

When turning one day my horn honked by itself. I thought my hand slipped and accidentally honked the horn then a few days later while driving straight I heard it again. It honked twice by itself, causing the person in front of me to slam on their brakes and almost caused a crash. That same day I heard it while the vehicle was off. I was I side and my horn honked at least 15 times by itself. I knew it wasn't my keys because my key fob had been disconnected from my car.

Shortly after beginning to drive the car, the traction control light comes on, the steering tightens up and the brakes freeze up. This happens on completely dry roads. This happened 2 times within 1 mile of each time. The first time I almost went through an intersection because I couldn't get stopped, and the second time I almost rear ended a car. I had both of my children who are 7 and 10 in the vehicle. This is not the first time this issue has happened. It happened 6 months ago, and my mechanic said the code was a faulty tpm which was replaced. It then happened a month ago, and the most recent time which was last week. I've been researching this issue and it seems that the Dodge Journey has had this issue, among others. It seems as if this vehicle needs a complete recall. Somebody is going to end up seriously injured or dead. I still owe $10k on my vehicle and cannot afford to buy another and pay this loan. I need to get rid of this vehicle and Dodge needs to take responsibility.

As I was driving through a grocery parking lot, I remember taking my foot off of the accelerator to slow down and to make a right turn up an isle to go to a parking spot. Once my foot came off of the accelerator, my car died, no brakes, and no steering. The electrical continued to work as my music was still playing and the flashers worked as well. I put the car in park, and pushed the start button, nothing happened. I tried a couple more times and then my car started back up. I drove to a parking spot, shut the car off and turned it back on. I drove back home with no issues and put her in the garage. I'm very nervous, to say the least as I have to drive to work tomorrow. I hope this does not occurs as I'm driving 55 mph.
