2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 09/13/2019

Something has gone very wrong in my transmission. Possibly tork converter or a pump causing 2 error codes and a huge winding noise upon starting the vehicle. The error codes are p083b for the tfps and p0944 hydraulic pressure unit. My car is 2013 and was purchased on April 7th with 44,011 miles on it. I have since put 14000 miles on it with the needed and proper oil changes every 5000 miles. I was driving and started hearing a high pitched winding noise. I started to head to someplace I would be able to park and stopped at a red light. Once it turned green I proceeded to press on thr gas and the car didnt move rather slid backward almost hitting the car behind me. I had my 3 year old in the car properly restrained in the correct car seat but it was scary. I then had it towed to a transmission shop and got a diagnosis of needing to rebuild my transmission. So a 2013 Dodge Journey needs the transmission rebuilt at 58k miles.

The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v461000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

4 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 08/21/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while in reverse the vehicle would not immediately stop and while switching the transmission to the drive position a load noise was present coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer cape coral Chrysler(2200 ne pine island, cape coral FL. ) who replaced the motor mount but the failures continued to occur. No further information was available. In addition while driving and slowing down approaching a stop light the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. During the crash the driver sustained neck and back injuries. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure(case 64687641). The failure mileage was 44,000. Jft.

5 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 10/22/2018

While driving on highway approximately 45-50 mph, beginning to ascend a small hill, an extremely loud squeak was heard and there was a brief period of resistance before the vehicle "lurched" forward and continued to make a clacking noise, followed by a loud crack and more resistance to acceleration as I pulled over. The vehicle is an awd, 3yrs old and had 52k miles on it. It was towed to a dealership and repaired under the powertrain warranty. The dealership informed me that the compounder had failed, locking up the transmission. The awd continued to try to power through, which cracked the power take off (which had a giant piece broken off of it). The dealership replaced the transmission and the pto, but couldn't explain the reason for the failure. As such, I am now constantly worried that the same issue may occur again and cause an accident. I would be very grateful for any investigation into this or similar issues with the powertrain on the 2015 Dodge Journey awd.

6 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 01/22/2016

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Journey. While driving 65 mph, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the check engine light illuminated due to a low battery. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. In addition, while driving 25 mph, there where a squeaking noise coming from the brakes. When the vehicle was in reverse, it made a knocking/kicking noise and failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time where it was diagnosed that the transmission and a faulty cylinder head failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 08/15/2015

I purchased my 2015 Dodge Journey crossroad in June of 2015 brand new. At less than 8,000 miles when going from park to drive or reverse to drive I started to experience a violent jerk and / or loud noise. I took it to the dealership and they could not recreate it and sent me on my way. It didn't happen too often then. Took it in for the recall and at around 10,000 miles mentioned that it picked up in frequency and again they told me they couldn't get it to happen. I took it in one last time around 12,000 miles because it was happening even more frequently and I was again told they cant recreate it and they refuse to check the transmission. I gave up. Now at about 40,000 miles and 3 years later and it happens daily. I will be trying a different Dodge dealership soon to see if they can help, if not I am getting rid of this vehicle.

11 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

I bought my car December of 2010 and since owning it has been nothing but issues. I did have some things fixed right after purchase and others they said they saw no issue. My vehicle keeps loosing coolant and was overheating which not burnt my reservoir, my car doesn't always start which has happened since I purchased, door lock doesn't work on driver door, and horn was sounding while driving and alarm was constantly going off until I removed fuse, and fuse box always has a clicking noise. I am not the only one with issues with this vehicle I have seen manau with similar issues and they are all extremely dangerous especially with children in the car. Also my car made a terrible growling noise and I had transmission replaced. Please help get these investigated it's terrible. Never again will I purchase a Dodge or advise anyone to do so. Would be a great car if it didn't always have these issues. Just want problems addressed for all owners so they can enjoy a car they bought with their families.

12 Transmission Noise problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 03/14/2009

Have a 2009 Dodge Journey and need a whole new transmission at 11,000 miles and now at 13,000 miles I needed brake pads. Still have whining noise that no dealer can figure out what it is. I have already had the radio replaced, a recall completed and several other items fixed. In less than a year. Unfortunately, I can not afford to trade it in.
