At times my vehicle will not accelerate beyond 35-40 mph. Once it reached this speed the vehicle shakes uncontrollably. This has happened on both city streets and the highway. I had to immediately get off of the highway. It is very unsafe with a child in the car and I am afraid to drive the vehicle.

Failure Date: 11/16/2017

Oct 2017 I was driving and all of a sudden the car made a grinding sound that didn't stop we took it to the dealership where we purchased it used. They charged us for parts $2000. 00 and fix it . About 4 weeks later the same thing happened I was able to drive it to the dealership again but this time they said the part wasn't available. Its now March of 2018 and the part still isnt available and I am paying on a car I don't have. Why is this not being recalled ?? I see I am not the only one in this position. I was on a public hwy. . . . . Took it to dealership via local street. . . . I was a nervous wreck the oil type substance was pouring out. . . The dealership told me it is the same part they fixed ,the ptu.

6 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2013 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

I have owned my Dodge Journey since may 2013, and after two years I began to have problems. The vehicle does not pick up and go. At times when the vehicle is in idling mode (like if I am sitting at a traffic light) it acts as if it wants to stop. On other occasions the vehicle acts as if it wants to stop, even if I am in drive or just sitting in park. I recently had a tune and the battery replaced. I am still having the same problem! however, it's even worse now because the vehicle constantly shakes and wants to stop while I am caught up in traffic, which is very dangerous (especially when I have my children and dogs in the vehicle with me). I want this issue resolved. I bring my vehicle in for regular maintenance as required, and when I mentioned the issue to my service advisor at the Dodge dealership where I originally purchased the vehicle, they told me it's because the vehicle is getting old. The most recent incident of the vehicle shaking and wanting to stop occurred yesterday afternoon while I was driving down hwy I-64. Because of all of these issues I am never buying a Dodge again.

10 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2012 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

We purchased a brand new 2012 Dodge Journey in March 2012. The car had 14 miles on it, our first new car. Shortly after driving the car around for about a month, we started having problems with the transmission. We noticed that when coming to a stop the transmission starting stuttering and it would shake the whole car. We thought it was just that once, but then it started happening almost every time we would come to a stop, whether we were slowing down coming off of a highway or sitting through stop and go traffic. We took it to the dealership and they couldn't recreate it. They hooked it up to their computer and found no issues. 3 months later we decided to take it in to be looked at again. While driving the car they were able to recreate the stuttering, this time while accelerating. Since then they have been back and forth with Chrysler and have had the car in the shop for 2 weeks now. Chrysler is now having them open the transmission and replace some parts. This concerns me since this is a brand new car!.

11 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 09/23/2010

The 2009 Dodge Journey builds up carbon in the cylinders. This will cause the cylinders to fail. The car will shake while driving down the road and will shift incorrectly. It is extremely scary while driving 55 miles per hour. You have no ideal what is wrong. After many trial and errors with Dodge the problem of is only fixed by getting your engine tore apart. They will tell you at first bad spark plugs. This is incorrect. Then they say bad gas. This is incorrect. Then clean the carbon out. This to is a temporary fix, they must redo the engine, but I feel this is again a temporary fix, because they just replaces parts in another 40,000 miles it is bound to happen again. I only hope by letting everyone know this will only help to have Dodge rethink about replacing the parts time and time again, and really look into the matter and fix the problem for the consumer.
