I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum and I went into the cleaners to drop my clothes off. I went in the cleaners and came out and attempted to start my car and it wouldn't start. I thought it was the fuel pump. I had my car towed to the shop and the mechanic stated it was my engine was out. I think its the timing chain. I seen recalls for my engine but they state its for the newer version of the hemi but I think its all the same recall. I get my car maintenance at the Dodge dealership and I haven't had any engine problems, no check engine lights , loss af power. There were literally no signs. I had got my oil changed at the dealership within a month of the incident.

I started having problems with my 2006 Magnum srt8 this past winter. With absolutely no warning while driving approximately 10 mph in drive, the engine cutoff and lost all power completely. I also lost all power steering and power brakes. Thank goodness I was on a back road. All of the warning lights flashed on and off and then the check engine light came on. I had to put the car back in park, completely turn off the ignition and restart the car. It restarted without any problems. I drove a few more miles and the exact same thing happened. Again, lucky I was on a back road!! I made it home and it stalled a 3rd time just as I pulled it into the garage. Again, completely random while driving!!!! I took it to my local dealership who could not re-create the problem. I paid for the 60,000 mile service and did not have issues again until this past weekend when the same issue occurred 5 times in 2 days. Again, completely random while driving!!. Dangerous. These particular times occurred after filling the gas tank. I have read multiple similar complaints. Something needs to be done before someone gets killed on the road. I will be taking my car into the dealership once again for diagnostics. I am an anesthesiologist and it doesn't take to one to realize that this is a serious safety issue that needs complete attention and a complete investigation. I love my car but I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Dodge and NHTSA, you cannot ignore this. Please feel free to contact me as I will be contacting you.

The first time a stall occurred I was stopped at a light when the car stalled. It took several tries to get the car started. The check engine light came on but then went off after several minutes. Since then, the car has stalled on multiple occassions both while driving at highway speeds and at idle. Some of the stalls are only a split second, with multiple dash warning lights appearing before the car starts again on its own. Unlike other complaints I have seen, it does not occur only after filling up the tank but is instead completely random. I have taken the car to the dealership and independent mechanics on at least six occassions. The Dodge dealer had the car for a week on one occassion and was still unable to determine the problem. Since they have been unable to replicate the issue the problem has not been fixed. Not only is this problem extremely frustrating since mechanics have been unable to find a solution, it is also dangerous since power steering and brakes stop working when the car is stalled.
My 2007 Magnum has 48k miles and recently had the engine light come on showing code 1004. Research online shows this code to be very prevalent with this model of Dodge, yet they claim it is not an issue, and are asking $1300+ for replacement/parts for the intake and short-runner actuators. As well, my sunroof track failed and the sunroof will not move. Both the guide attached to the glass and the sunroof assembly both have broken plastic parts.
Engine has random rough idle and dies and/or loses significant power (top speed of under 40 mph when entering highway. ) most prevalent after filling gas tank or hard braking/acceleration. Check engine light illuminates and stores engine misfire code. Cam sensor has been adjusted but problem persists.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. After adding gasoline to the fuel tank the vehicle would stall. The failure occurred on numerous occasions after fuel was added to vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that if the engine light does not illuminated there were no failures. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was called and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 26,000 updated 3/7/11 the consumer stated the stalling would occur at anytime after refueling. Updated 04/28/11.
About a week ago I noticed a ticking/tapping noise coming from the engine. I took it to firestone not knowing if it was something serious. After inspecting the vehicle he states that it sounded like a lifter but he was not sure, so I took it to the dealership. Since my check engine light was not on there were no codes for them to look up. So I was quoted this ridiculous price to have my engine looked at. I declined and took the vehicle to another local mechanic who verified that it was a lifter. The vehicle only 41,000 miles on it and the warranty expired at 36,000 miles.
On or about June 6, 2006, I purchased a 2006 Dodge Magnum 3. 5 liter engine and received a letter in later that year advising of recall an defect in the engine. The vehicle was taken in for inspection and I was told that my car was not applicable to the recall. In July 2007, the car was taken in because of claking noise coming from the engine. The car was diagnosed and valves from the engine was changed. In June 2008 the car cut off and the check engine light appeared. The vehicle was immediately taken to the dealer for diagnostic and correction. The findings where that the thermostat had to be replaced. Recently my car has been take to the dealer because a recurring noise and issue that was address in July 2007 and the dealer and manufacture is denying liability for the noise and issue. The Dodge dealer located in cerritos is alleging that they have contacted Chrysler who alleges that the noise of complaint is normal for my vehicle, but I never heard this notice until July 2007 and valves was changed and know the issue has recurred. In addition, to the aforementioned, there has been a continuous issue and complaint with the brake coming on. The vehicle has been taken in for examination and the dealer alleges that there are no issues with the brake light. Recently as of September 2008, the cerritos Dodge dealer alleges that the brake fluid is low on the vehicle which is causing the light to continuous come on. However, the brake light has been coming on since two months after the purchase of the vehicle and have addressed the brake light issue at regular maintenance appointments and they have never mentioned that the brake fluid los. Please advise. I have further documentation to provide if required and I also can provide a detail explanation and complaint.
: the contact stated the vehicle idled very fast and hesitated. On each occasion, the check engine light illuminated. Each time the check engine light illuminated, a diagnostic test ran which indicated there were multiple misfires. The vehicle was taken to two dealerships and an independent mechanic. Between the three, two fuel injectors, spark plugs and three ignition coils were replaced. The problem persisted.
