While driving home from work in my 2008 Dodge Magnum r/t one of the cooling fans disintegrated and damaged my radiator punching holes and causing coolant to begin rapidly leaking. After assessing the damage I was able to limp the car along to the next auto parts store I purchased 2 gallons of coolant in an attempt to get the car to a mechanic, it only made it 2 blocks since the leaking was so severe. I had it towed to my mechanic where he advised me of a recall and I should contact Dodge. I began researching the cause of this equipment failure. It turns out that Chrysler released a recall "customer satisfaction notification l08 engine cooling fans" for 2006 thru 2008 model year vehicles with "severe duty engine cooling" systems with the sales code nms, xdl or xdk and built through April 29, 2008. My vehicle has the sales code nmcs and has been excluded from the recall. However my research reveals that there is no distinguishable difference in the fans part number from the years 2004 thru 2014. Contacting Chrysler about this brought no results. I recommend establishing a record of these fan failure occurrences in vehicles that have other than the recall's stated sales codes, and that a new recall for all vehicles with this cooling fan system be released. The existing recall includes "sold to sales codes and/or are currently registered in warm climate states. . . ". I live in a designated warm climate state according to the recall. We were fortunate that the blades didn't cut any high pressure hydraulic lines or other safety critical or fuel lines.

The engine on the 2005 Dodge Magnum 3. 5l has a problem that could result in a serious injury or worse. In this case and citing a TSB from Dodge that there is an issue with the rocker arms, valves, and egr valve that allows this engine to make a lot of noise. I contacted Dodge directly and they are unwilling to help out. I think someone from your dept should look into this problem it does not only affect the Magnum but any Dodge vehicle with this motor.

While driving through arizona in my 2007 Dodge Magnum sxt one of the cooling fans dissintegrated and damaged my radiator punching holes and causing coolant to begin rapidly leaking. After assessing the damage I was able to limp the car along to the next town where I waited for a friend to pick up a new radiator and drive 2 hours to our location where we changed it out in a parking lot. It was 107 degrees. 2 days later I purchased and installed the fan from the local Dodge dealer. I returned home the next day and began researching the cause of this equipment failure. V8 engine repeatedly and unpredictably stalls and loses power during driving and turning situations. Recovers after 1-2 seconds in some instances, stalls completely and is difficult to restart in others. Produces extremely hazardous and dangerous situations in traffic and at intersections. Local Dodge dealer (hall Dodge) has had car for six weeks+ and has failed to correctly diagnose & repair. This appears to be a common very dangerous problem involves fuel tank valve, as it is more prevalent (see many online posts of identical symptoms since 2005 and before) after full fuel fill and persists until unrestricted fuel appears to have been used to sufficient degree. Dealer has replaced unlikely items such as sunroof module and the abs module in futile and inept attempts to skirt the real issue. Someone is going to die in one of these cars when it stalls --Chrysler Dodge is 100% knowledgeable of this defect in many of their cars, and will not acknowledge or make any attempt to correct it. We implore NHTSA to intervene immediately! posted 27 Feb 2013.

The failure mileage was approximately 121,145. Oo.
Bought an 05 hemi awd Magnum w/20,000 miles in 07. Warranty expired at 85,000miles. Problems after problems, rack and pinion fixed, egr valve fixed, torque converter replaced once and still having the same issue. Shudders, vibrations, hard engine noises and stalls, pulls to the right, electrical problems with windows, sunroof, seats, gps, instrument cluster, power outlets, hood and hatchback just fall down and bump your head. Passenger seat was missing bolts and wasn't fastened to frame. $200 keyless entry key replacement. No where near 24 mpg more like 14 down a flat 55mph highway. Currently 114,000 miles oil always changed around 3,000 miles and had a 3 tranny flushes. Take it to certified Dodge dealerships and they cant figure out what is wrong with any of those problems and try and tell me that's the way it is. Uhhhhhhhuh. . . . . Lemon?.
