When filling gas tank to a full condition the engine will die suddenly without warning. The car/engine will stall unexpectedly after leaving gas station often in a perilous position. Does not happen unless car is over 3/4 full of fuel. If the car is filled up it can die anytime at any moment.

After filling up with gas, the engine will stall and shut off at an idle. This happens immediately after filling up the gas tank. Once I make it home after it stalls 2 to 3 time and it sits over night it is fine the next day. The engine stalls when sitting at a red light at idle speeds.
I went to the parking lot at my dr. S office to go home. I started the engine and there was a loud rattling type sound and the engine stalled. It would not stay running. Lots of smoke when started. I had the car towed to the local Dodge dealer for diagnosis. Was told the next day that there was over 90% compression. Loss. Internal cylinder or other failure indicated. Recommended tear down for $1850. 00 only 80,000 miles, serviced regularly by the dealer. No warning. I declined the teardown and had car towed home. Has been parked since October 2016. Retired/disabled. I cannot afford any major repair. Factory defect should be fixed by manufacturer.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle jerked. The contact had then put the vehicle in park and the engine stalled. The vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000. The VIN was not available. Ak.
Engine stalled while driving minutes after filling the fuel tank. A known problem with these cars. Had to pull over and run the vehicle for 15 minutes before the engine could run steadily without stalling .
The engine stalls randomly after stopping at a stop sign or red light. This will ofter occur several times in a row. After restarting the car it will not go into gear and be stuck in neutral. The problem will also occur at speed, dying causing a small decelleration and then starting again on its own. This is very dangerous because the driver behind you has no indication that you are stalled and stopping unexpectedly.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. Sg.
Hi, I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum srt8. During the first incident in April 2014, my car stalled at lights and engine would not restart. I got gasoline after the first stall and it continued after I filled my tank with gas. The second incident just occurred last night 11/4/14 and I went to the gas station to fill the tank. I noticed a sound like air pressure was being released from my gas tank (normal from filling up) and then the car would not restart very easily and stalled. I was able to get the car started but it stalled at every idle at stop lights. I just noticed that though a google search that the fed is probing engine stalls on approx 192k Chrysler/Dodge models with the same issue. . Read more...
The engine stalls after refueling, sometimes it will restart other times I have to sit like 15 minutes before it will restart.
On 4 occasions to date, the most recent occurring on 12/21/13, the engine stalls multiple times after refueling. All occasions occurred at idle. Safety hazard exists while exiting vehicle on busy roads to push to side of the road.
I experience 2 types of engine stall. First incident - car engine would stall at a stop light and happen several times. I completed a tune up thinking it was a spark plug and problem continues. My mechanic tested the car for one day and cannot tell me why it would stall. Second incident - car engine would stall at 10 miles per hour causing the car to stop which is dangerous.
After filling up at a local gas station, I drove away, about a quarter mile and stopped at a stop light. The engine stalled as I stopped. I shifted to neutral and attempted to restart the motor 3 times before it would run. Once started, I drove for about another mile, and when I slowed to make a right turn, it stalled again. I was able to restart and the vehicle ran fine after that. This is roughly the fourth time this has occurred. The last two times, I realized that they were immediately after a fill up.
Low fuel light came on, stopped at a gas station to fill up. I filled the tank full up to when the gas-refill-nozzle clicked off, and then a little more - up to the next whole dollar. Recapped my tank, and began to drive away. The engine bucked a bit then stalled. Was a bit harder than normal to get it restarted. Then slowed for the first traffic signal and it suddenly died in busy traffic! hard to get it restarted. Pulled away from the stop light and it bucked and stuttered some more and then cleared up in a couple miles. This has happened about 3 times since this behavior started. Two times for sure the car was running during the refill. I will pay attention in the future to see if it only happens during refill with it still running.
Over the course of the past six months, my engine has missed and stalled after refueling. This occurs after each refueling and is a safety concern as there is no warning then the stall may occur. I've now incurred a very large expense of $2,340 to repair the problem. This is quite obviously a problem that Chrysler is aware of and I understand the matter is being investigated. I hope that car owners such as me will be reimbursed for the expense of this costly repair.
The milage and date are approximates. The most recent occurence was on 4/5/14 at about 69980 miles. When I fill up my gas tank, without "topping off", the engine will stall shortly afterwards when I am driving at low speeds. This will happen several time until the car has had time to sit for a period of time (hours to overnight). This usually occurs when I come to an intersection or I am moving at low speeds.
Vehicle Dodge Magnum r/t 5. 7l 2005 engine stalls unexpectedly when moving slow speed/low rpm, loses power steering and brakes. Does happen occasionally may go months without an incident. Vehicle start normally right after. Extremely dangerous especially when making left turn over oncoming traffic lanes and crossing lanes. Had two incidents yesterday as described. This issue need to be investigated and recalled for complete repair. Called Chrysler customer service who were unwilling to assist with an issue but admit warranty extension to the fuel tank's multifunction control valve fuel shutoff float in the 19-gallon tanks. I found NHTSA comment in its summary of the closed investigation. "the condition represents a low risk to motor vehicle safety and is adequately addressed by Chrysler's extended warranty. " I disagree with NHTSA comments whether this is "low risk to motor vehicle safety". Try to be stalled on the lane when 20 ton dump truck is approaching 50-60 miles per hour.
After filing the fuel tank, the engine will sputter and stall. When it first began to happen to me, it seemed like I was getting bad gas. Now I know that this occurs primarily after I make a left turn and is due to a part that is inside the fuel tank. The part fails and the result is this problem with the engine stalling. This is a known problem with older Magnums, chargers, and Chrysler 300's. It is dangerous!! this has happened to be on interstate 95 and just when I got into the travel lane the engine died. I think the left turn I made was a few mile before I got to the entrance ramp and it caught me off-guard. I was lucky to be able to pull over and get onto the shoulder. This is a design failure and is not normal wear & tear. All of the older cars mentioned here can be affected. I assume you have received prior complains about this issue. Dodge is no help, but should be required to fix this problem. Thanks.
Moving at very slow speed, engine stalls. Come to stop - put in park and then restart. Restarts on first try, however, there is a notable 'sound' upon ignition - almost sounds like a 'pop' or 'release'. This has occurred approx ten times over the past few months. Nothing is so consistent with each situation that can conclusively say what/if the cause is. Luckily has not occurred yet on highway, etc.
After filling the gas tank, the car stalled at the next 3 intersections and ran rough once on moderate acceleration. No engine codes or warning lights appeared. Engine was able to be restarted nut only when depressing the accelerator pedal slightly. Would not re-start otherwise. Problem resolved itself after about 15 minutes of operation. Since then, issue has re-surfaced approximately 6 times with similar symptoms; occasionally with engine stalling while the car is slowing down but still moving. All time are associated with the first few minutes of operation after filling the gas tank.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. While driving approximately 3 mph, the engine stalled and restarted. The failure occurred numerous times. The similar failure also occurred when approaching a complete stop and driving at various speeds. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed there was not a recall related to the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. Js.
08 Magnum purchased 08. 08. 2009 w/ 40,235 miles w/ 48,000 extended warranty. Around January of 2010 stalling in parking lots, at traffic lights, while in reverse. While regular driving car will buck, as though neutral was engaged and disengaged. This may occur weekly, no diagnosis was made on multiple trips. Now while driving at 65-70mph on highway on 6/04/2010, right front tie rod end "explodes". I was able to wrestle control of the vehicle and safely pull over to shoulder after nearly hitting wall. Both tie rod ends are currently being replaced, after mechanic describes left tie rod as having " excessive play". Speed sensor damaged because right tie rod explosion. As off now the extent of the damage is still being assessed, and the old parts have been requested to stay with the car as proof. The engine troubles and excessive stalling has not been diagnosed. Purchased Dodge because of love for the quality and cars. After investigating; recalls/complaints, numerous forums I have found this problem to be in the hundreds. Please open a case, I have waited to file a compliant so that I would have time to do research and make sure I would not be "crying wolf". Currently I am terrified to accept the car, because if the left tie rod end was not identified as problematic, then it is possible that I could have been awaiting repairs for the same problem later down the road. And I am unsure if I can keep worrying about when and where the car will stall next. It is nerve racking to have to constantly panic when it does, or even if it will start back up, especially when this should not be a issue. Thank you.

The engine stalls after filling up the fuel tank. This has been going on for many years. It will stall 2 or 3 times even at highway speed. Most of the time it will do it in traffic just after getting fuel. This took us a while to figure out. We used to fill up all the way and now we try to stop filling before it is full to just avoid the problem.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Magnum. The contact purchased the vehicle with 32,000 miles. While driving at an unknown speed, the engine lost power and stalled. The instrument panel gauges fluctuated right before the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the engine locked up and the top part of the engine seized. The vehicle could not be restarted after the failure occurred. The vehicle is unable to be driven. There were no previous failures with the vehicle. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 57,000.
: the contact stated while driving 35mph or less, the engine stalled without warning. Afterwards, the engine easily restarted. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem. A monitoring device was installed to record any further incidents. The manufacturer was contacted.
I have a Dodge Magnum rt (it's now 7 mos old with 4000 miles). 3 mos after I bought the car, the engine started stalling intermittently when I tried to reverse out of the parking stall. Then when I tried the start the engine again, it would not start until I pressed on the gas pedal. I brought it in the dealership the first time, they "cannot duplicate customer's concern". Brought it in the second time, they installed a CO-pilot in the car to monitor the stalling hoping that the computer would tell them something. I took the car in the third time for another problem, at the same time they took the reading off the CO-pilot. The dealership told me that the CO-pilot shows that the engine did stall, but the sensor was showing everything was running well with the car. They suggested to replace the computer sensor thinking that it might be defective that's why it is not showing anything. Weeks later they called and said they found the same problem in the pacifica. They re-install some software in my car and the engine stalling seems to disappear. However, the reversing is still not normal. The car seems to have problem with reversing. When reversing most car will move without having to push on the gas pedal. My car will stop at a certain point, then when I try to press on the pedal gently and slowly, the car will suddenly reverse really fast. I almost hit someone and another parked vehicle last week because of this. I brought my car in the dealership again this week (8th or 10th time in 6 mos) for this incident. Of course, their response is "cannot duplicate customer's concern".
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the engine stalled with the illumination of the light bulb warning icon. The failure recurred forty times over several years. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who reprogrammed the computer system however, the failure recurred and would mostly recur after the contact refueled the vehicle. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
After filling up fuel tank, and driving away vehicle dies, engine cuts out and will not start right away. Then once it starts it will cut out again and engine stalls. Usually by the 3 time engine starts and car gets driven the problem of stalling goes away. Concerned because this happens once I am driving on a road way.
