My 2005 Dodge Neon entered into a collision with a 2001 Ford taurus on 7/4/2014. My vehicle hit the Ford taurus head-on into the passenger's side of the Ford taurus at about the middle of the taurus. My seat belt had kept me in my seat, but the air bag had failed to deploy, resulting in permanent injuries which will require pain management and surgery at some point. The posted speed limit was 45 mph, and I was estimated to be traveling at around 40 mph at the time of impact.

Head gasket: took the 1999 Dodge Neon to a mechanic after express oil noticed an oil leak. I always have oil changed every 3000 miles. The mechanic told me that I had a warped head gasket and would have to be replaced. The car doesn't even have 60,000 miles on it. I have read numerous complaints on this and wonder why Dodge will not accept responsibility and recall? my bill ended up being $2000 because they also needed to replace the timing belt which shouldn't have to be replaced until after 90k miles.

2000 Dodge Neon
I had this Dodge Neon for 3 years now ; I found out the other day that I have to replace my head gasket, fuel pump and timing belt. I know I should not have to replace these items so soon. I took my car to another mechanic and they told me the same exact thing. I am truly upset about this.

Consumer had problems with intermittent engine stalling. While driving the vehicle on the highway at 70 mph vehicle lost total power which left the driver with no power steering or brakes. Dealer was contacted, and vehicle was taken into the shop, but the dealer was not able to find anything.
The complaints that I have for the air bags, seat belts and brakes the same problems occured during another accident on January 16, 2001. During both accidents I was pressing on my brakes and it seemed as if the car would not stop. At the time of impact the seat belts did not catch and the air bags did not deploy. The accident that occured on January 16, 2001, because the seat belt did not catch and the air bag did not deploy I was injured when my head impacted the windshield. I informed the Dodge corporation of the problems and all I was told is that there is not a recall on my car. I noticed that the headgaskets began leaking approximately a month ago, I contacted the dealership about a week ago and was told it would take about $700. 00 in repairs. I called several other garages for quotes on the repairs and the first thing out of the mechanics mouth was I should take it back to the dealership that there was a recall on the headgaskets. I called the dealership back and was told it did not apply to my car since mine was susposed to be a 2000 model. But since them I have found out that my car was actually manufactured in January 1999. Any help that you can give me concerning my car would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
While driving 30mph steering wheel became stuck. Was not able to steer & maintain control of vehicle. Put on hazards. Managed to stop vehicle & then had pushed vehicle to nearby mechanic. Was informed that serpentine belt had broken due to being defective.
Interior trunk lock wasn't operable. Consumer went to open the trunk and lock wouldn't unlock/ cigerette lighter and cd player failed. Consumer took vehicle to the dealership. Mechanic told her that they couldn't duplicate the problems. Seat belt malfunctions. Door light and dome light stays on alarm system malfunctons continuously. Power windows malfunctions. Cruise control failed. The vehicle stalled on the road. Vehicle alignment problems while using brakes.
The problems that are occuring on a daily basis are: the gas gauge doesn't work, the speedometer doesn't work, the temperature gauge doesn't work, the mileage gauge doesn't work because the speedometer isn't working. Sometimes while you are driving the lights(seat belt, etc. )will pop on making the dinging noise letting you know that everything is on(like when you 1st start up the car)but nothing starts working then but the temperature gauge. We never know how much fuel we have put in our car,how fast we are going,or if the car is running hot or cold. At one point we were having to get jump starts all of the time. This is an ongoing problem that I noticed you have had a recall on but this vehicle wasn't included. Since it is having the same exact problems that is described in the recall I don't understand why the manufacturer will not fix the vehicle. This is rediculous there was a recall on the same type of vehicle, same year and everything but because there was only 15,000 cars done and our car could have been the 15,001 car on the assembly at the time we have to suffer and pay for the manufacturers mistakes.
In rainy weather vehicle loses power. Owner notes that vehicle's steering locks up in rainy weather. The cause has not been determined. Dealer replaced steering belt, but problem still occurs.
Every 18000 miles the head gasket has failed on the vehicle. . . Brakes failed one time had master cylinder replaced. . . Accident, brakes being investigated to see if accident could have been avoided. . . Airbags did not deploy in frontal collision at speed of 15 mph. . . Seat belt failed in frontal collision at 15 mph.
At only 19000 miles the car has blown the head gasket, the front drivers side tire split down the side in several places, both drive belts broke causing dead cells in the battery, now temp gauge goes to red when in traffic with a/c working. Dealer replaced head gasket and belts but cant find the overheating problem. What a piece of junk!!!!.
