My car began to leak oil and after several investigations I was told that the problem was caused by a head gasket problem. The problem was discovered by a Dodge dealership in atlantic GA. And that it would cost $800 to fix. I've noticed several complaints about the same problem. The dealership that fixed my car said that did'nt have any recalls from Chrysler on the Dodge Neon. N.

Had the head gasket mod shortly after purchaceing 2 Dodge Neons. Both are still leaking oil.
Oil has been leaking from the head gasket or other gasket assembly and I have had to add one to two quarts of oil a week. The car is leaking oil constantly when not in use and the oil is visible around the engine block.
Vehicle was leaking oil. Contacted dealer, problem due to head gasket going out.
The c/s oil light flashed on and off. The car was immediately taken to the dealer. They diagnosed a leaking front camshaft seal. The dealer's repair invoice listed the problem as "front cam seal fell out". There was oil all over the engine and the driveway. Camshaft seals don't 'fall out' of properly designed engines. There is obviously an engine design defect here.

Oil leak, head gasket. This is a known problem with all of the vehicles manufactured for that year.
At first, the oil leak was very little and as time went on, I began to notice a lot of oil on the ground. I took it to two different repair shops and they told me that the problem is the leak on the head gasket due to manufacturers bad design. Why isn't there a recall for this problem?.
Faulty head gasket at only 54,400 miles seems odd for a 1998 vechicle. I bought it used in nashville and on the first oil change an oil leak problem was descovered and fixed via warenty. This may be the same component.
Whenever putting oil in to gas tank it will leak right to the ground. Mechanic told consumer that head gasket was shot, and needed to be replaced. There is a service bulletin on problem.
There was an oil leakage around head gasket. The dealer told me that Chrysler Jeep's have the same problems and are being recalled. The Dodge dealer told me I have to pay for it. My warranty was expired, and the dealer said Chrysler won't pay for Neons. This is a defect not something I did to the car. I have never had an accident. I hope this helps, because I can't afford to fix it.
After numerous oil changes, engine check light suddenly started flashing while on expressway and car lurched, then shut down completely. At dealership I was informed that engine threw a rod through the oil pan. I'm convinced this is related to the numerous complaints of the head gasket in the engine, since they all seem to have oil leaks in common.
Vehicle has a blown headgasket. Consumer waiting to hear from Dodge. The leak in the head gasket resulted in oil dripping on to the transmission. The head gasket was fixed.
Engine gasket has crack in rear, causing an oil leak in compartment. Dealer has been contacted. Original gasket was a fiber gasket and was a failure. The new Neon's gasket contain a metal and fiber gasket.
Excessive oil leak from engine. May be a blown head gasket or other gaskets. This car has only 30,000 miles on it. Please provide any information on recalls or manufacturers service bulletins.
Massive oil leak again from latest head gasket version used all new cars.
Shortly after buying this car it started to show oil on the floor, most cars leak a little thought little of it. January 15 I seen a large wet spot on floor and investigated it to find it was the left rear corner of the head. Talked to Chrysler about this and was informed that it was very common. I reminded them that there was only 32000 miles on the car. Was informed I was out of warranty and they would go to 50% on the total bill. I've seen where there are a lot longer warranties that are kept secret from us, if this is so can you get me to the place that I have to be to find this info so that I might get this rectified? if no recall is going to ever happen on an item that has been known to be defective for a long time what are we to do?.
Gasket, under normal driving conditions, failed and now leaks 1 qt of oil a week.
Oil is leaking because of a defective head gasket.
Noticed oil leak, took to mechanic, was told head gasket was gone. I have only 37,000 miles on this car and it has been routinely maintained. I am waiting for the dealership to look at it and decide when they will pay for it to be fixed. They are looking at these cases on a one on one basis, which should show that these cars need to be recalled or paid to be fixed by the dealer or chrsyler.
