Dodge RAM owners have reported 17 problems related to underhood wiring (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle was being used to plow snow. Vehicle was moving forward at a very slow rate ( approx 1 mph) and vehicle erupted in flames. Driver had to exit through a wall of flame and within less than a minute, cab was completely engulfed in fire. Vehicle completely destroyed in less than five minutes. Fire appeared to originate from beneath the cab, exact origin unknown. Vehicle will be kept on the premises until we hear from you. Our insurance adjuster has inspected the vehicle for insurance purposes but we have major safety concerns about this vehicle and would like to know what caused the fire. There was no service recently performed on the vehicle other than routine oil changes etc. The vehicle seemed to be running normally right up to the time that the vehicle caught fire.

Reporting a rental vehicle from express way Dodge experienced a fire underneath vehicle while driving at highway speed of 55-60 mph. Consumer feels the fire was caused by either the fuel pump or a transmission leak.

The power control module and body control modules blew out twice within the first 4000 miles of the trucks life the leaky intake manifold was detected after several complaints of a tapping noise in engine that was worse when accelerating. Still not fixed vehicle still has real bad tapping in engine. Truck died while driving down the road , left me stranded. Diagnosis was that the fuel pump module went out. Electrical problems with the vehicle also shorted out the cassette player. I have also heard strange buzzing noises in the cab while driving. Took back to dealer and they said they could not find anything wrong. Vehicle is still not running properly.
After driving the vehicle with the a/c on max mode the wiring harness melted, smoke filled the cab while the consumer was replacing a flat tire. Nlm.

Truck started with no key-jumped a barrier-rammed a building-caught on fire;.
Vehicle started smoking from under the hood. The fire department determined that the starter and wires were the cause of the fire. The dealer is inspecting the vehicle.
There was a electrical fire from the power dispersement box under the hood , which the wiring harness melted. The vehicle is still at the dealer awaiting parts. I feel this is a saftey hazard but the dealer is already giving me a hard time about it.
While driving the vehicle cought fire. Owner thinks the the fire started under the hood. The manufacturer will send out an investigator .
Smoke noticed during operation coming from underneath the hood, resulting in the burning of the padding under the hood.

While driving vehicle caught on fire. Fire started on the driver's side under the hood, near electrical harness. Fire was 3 feet high. Owner was slightly hurt.
Electrical: driving down hgwy when suddenly noticed flames coming from underneath the hood. Firefighters said cause of fire was insulation from the firewall made of flammable material.
While driving vehicle the steering wheel and column caught on fire. Dealer says it was due to a short in wiring harness.
