Brake Light On Problems of Dodge Ram 1500

We dont use the four wheel drive very often. There was a heavy snowfall the other day. I put the transmision in neuteral tried to put the four wheel drive shifter into four wheel drive and the four wheel drive shifter came loose. And the antilock brake lights on the dashboard came on and I had to give a lot of extra braking time. It is in the shop at this time. But I almost ran into someone. I missed them by only a few feet.

The truck is driving very poorly when you accelerate and the front wheel is making a humming noise. It also shakes a lot when you accelerate pass 50. This happened on the highway. Tl the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that there was a premature failure with the cruise control feature activating or not functioning properly. There was also unintended movement while the vehicle was in gear. The failure occurred when the vehicle was in reverse and the brake pedal was depressed to pull into a parking space. The contact was unable to determine if there was an electrical failure that activated the cruise control, causing the vehicle to lunge and accelerate at a high rate of speed. Force was applied to the brake pedal when the failure happened. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who checked for dtc, but was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. There was no repair recommendation from the independent mechanic. Additionally, a brake light switch was replaced by the independent mechanic. The dealer (whitten brothers of ashland, 11409 washington hwy, ashland, va 23005, (804) 798-6071) was also unable to determine the cause of the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v795000 (electrical system) and 06v038000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer issued six tsbs for the electrical system and was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Abs sensor comes on over 55mph. Exterior lighting keeps blowing bulbs and sometimes the tail lights completely shut off, sometimes brake lights inoperable. Windshield wipers work when they want to or only at the highest frequency. All occurs while vechicle is being driven in city street conditions other than on highway when I have to go above 55mph.

While driving city speeds abs and parking brake warning light appear for 10 sec and then turn off. Did not affect driving. While driving at any speed over any size bump, front end makes significant clank, bang, wobble noise. Can't locate issue, nothing is loose. Replaced struts, problem persists. Seems to be coming from front passenger steering/suspension area. While driving at any speed when applying the brakes, significant shaking while braking. Several obd codes; improper oil weight, have used manufacture recommended oil for every oil change. Oil is changed every 6000 miles or 3months. Obd code; low voltage. Obd code; transmission overdrive clutch.

While going down interstate my abs, service 4wd, esp traction control and brake light all came on at same time. When it happened it happend it nocked my cruise off and slowing down. I got back on the gas and started to speed up then all of a sudden my gas became my brake it locked all 4 tires up at high speed. I was very lucky no one was real close to me. I made it to safe place to pull over and check it out and no matter what I did I couldn't get it back going correctly. At first it would do right and get up to 30mph and ease on gas little bit and it would start breaking when touching gas. Has to have it towed. It was very dangerous and I was real lucky not to wreck. I home this problem can get resolved.

It got cold on this morning went out to start truck. Started fine like always drove my wife to work soon as I put truck in reverse my abs light traction control and emergency brake lights all flashed on at once. Took into get brakes checked they said they were fine. Also have four exhaust manifold bolts broke flush off on the block kinda been reading a lot of people have too is this going to be a recall.

There was an electrical failure in the wiring system from the fuse block this is known to be a common problem with the Dodge rams the abs light, brake light and airbag light as well as the engine light all come on also the odometer and speedometer also stop working. This stops the abs system from working as well as the airbags I have had to change the fuse block as well as the rear speed sensor, and the dash cluster because of this over a three year period now, the first time all of my lights stopped working as well as the dash gauges and door locks. Why is this and ongoing problem with this and nothing seems to get done about it the first time I got a copy of a service bulletin and Dodge tried to tell me it was only good for diesel models and I have the same issues. There seems to be a real history of these problems with this vehicle and the dealers are all aware of this.

The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph and attempting to brake, the vehicle would not respond. The contact was able to downshift and reduce speed. The contact inspected under the hood and found that the brake fluid reservoir was leaking and causing the brake warning light to illuminate. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop where it was inspected. The mechanic advised the contact that metal was used for the brake line, which was of bad quality, and caused the brake lines to become corroded with rust. The brake line was fractured. The factory installed trailer brake controller outputs the same voltage at all settings from 0-10. This results in the brakes of my lightweight trailer locking up whenever the brakes are applied and heavier trailers will not lockup in hard braking tests.

Brakes mushy, go all way to floor, need to be pumped before each stop. Bad cold start engine noise could make engine stop working according to Chrysler repair bulletin. Chrysler refused to repair either defect - brake light flashes and stays on much longer due to pumping and need for constant pedal action. My abs and brake light blinks on and off all the time and dings. When I roll my windows up sometimes it turns my radio on and off. I can be going down the road and my gas hand will drop to empty and also my speedometer will drop to zero even if I am going 60 mph. My cargo light will turn on by itself sometimes and if I turn it on is it very hard to get it turned off.

Abs and brake light came on within 7 minutes had no brakes due to driver side back brake line corrosion. This has happened to many Dodge ram1996 vehicles. There needs to be a recall.

On Friday September 17, 2010 I was driving down highway 231 in lafayette indiana, when suddenly I realized I could no longer use the brakes on my truck. I tried to slow my vehicle by braking but my brakes were not working so I just let up on the gas. At this point my brake light came on as did my abs light on the control panel. I was still about 40 miles away from my home and still had about 30 minutes of driving to do before I reached my destination. I drove about 20 miles an hour with my emergency lights on and was prepared to us my emergency brake if I needed to. Thankfully there was construction going on at the time on parts of highway 231 at the time, so parts of highway 231 were slow going anyway. However, the loss of my brake system should never have happened. I made it successfully home without injuring myself or anyone else on Friday September 17, 2010. However, my truck is only 9 years only and this incident should never have taken place. When I returned home all of my brake fluid was poring out and was completely out of the master tank under my hood. Furthermore, looking at the brake lines, the hard lines that lead to this problem revealed that severe rust had lead to the total breakdown and actually caused the hard lines of my brakes to brake in half, while I was driving. This should never happen in a nine year only vehicle, that is very well maintained. I have since replace my brake system with all new parts and bleed the brake system. I have also told people with whom I now have other Dodge's about my incident, to at least check their brake system for possible rust so they do not have to go through what I have gone through. I have kept the old part, at least for a while, in case I need to prove that this really did happen and these were really bad parts that Chrysler installed on these trucks. Most of all I would like to know why there were no recalls on this after there were so many problems with this same incident.

I was driving on my way to work and the abs light, limited slip light, esp light and brake light all came on. I went to my local mechanic and had the computer scanned for the code. I called the dealership and they said to bring it in, but I would have to pay for a diagnostics fee. I looked up and there is a service bulletin for this exact problem due to bad software loaded into 125,000+ vehicles. I was told this was something that I would have to pay for. In the past couple months, I have spoken to 4 other 2009 Ram 1500 owners who have all experienced the exact same problem. This vehicle is known by Dodge to have an abs problem and should be considered unsafe to drive until they admit they need to fix it!!!.

2003 Dodge ram rear speed sensor will fail, causing erratic speedometer behavior and dashboard abs and emergency brake lights to come on. This sensor is responsible for telling the abs system the speed of the vehicle and how much pressure to apply when braking. Operating the vehicle with this sensor not working properly could lead to erratic stopping lengths, not to mention unreliable speedometer and odometer readings. This is evidently a recurring problem among many year models of the vehicle, and the same part number is used in many applications for daimler Chrysler vehicles. I am yet to get the part changed, but will have the repair shop keep the part.

The truck has continually had an intermitten problem with a resistence sensation, as if thy parking brake was on. I thought at the time it was an engine problem because of excessive raw fuel smell at the tailpipe. Dealer shop found nothing wrong at 3,218 miles (12/01/05). At 18,000 miles (5/2/05) there was a complete brake faliure, lose of brake pressure. Brake light came on and I believe the anti-lock braking sysetem froze and shorted out, because the unit was humming very loud and was getting very hot after the key was removed. I called on the evening of 5/3/05 and asked to have the defective part given to me. They said they would.

En braking in rainy weather the abs light and brake light illuminated and the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance. The consumer contacted the dealer. The rear wheel speed sensor was replaced.

When applying brake pedal pedal went to floor, and both abs/brake lights came on. Vehicle intermittently lost brakes. Vehicle taken to dealer for insepection. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.

Engine check light/brake warning light and abs light came on and wouldn't go off. When consumer applied the brakes, the brake pedal was soft, and almost went to the floorboard.

When driving along and trying to apply the brakes they grab and the truck does a nose dives. When applying the brakes lightly brakes grab and pull in all weather conditions. Took in for service and they can't find anything wrong with vehicle.
