Service Brakes Problems of Dodge Ram 1500 - part 1

The brake line broke on my Dodge truck and all the brake fluid leaked out. Fortunately this didn't happen while driving on the highway. I discovered no brakes when I got in the vehicle to leave. I have a long driveway. As I was driving the slight grade down to the main road, I hit the brakes and they went to the floor. I was able to turn around in my yard before all the brake fluid was gone and get the truck back to my barn. I got under the truck and took a picture. I discovered that the brakes had rusted and leaked out the fluid. No one has inspected it or confirmed it. The truck is not safe to drive and sitting in my barn.

We have had our truck taken to nyle maxwell in taylor texas and they have were suppose to check the truck because two lights came up on the dash board which dash esp abs and traction control light. The shift stick was stuck in park. They towed it to there shop but the lights were off and the gear shift was working. I drove off the lot had to stop at a light and my truck veered left sharply. They have looked at this problem twice. They are not finding anything but it is my truck I drive with my kids. We need so help. They also had to fix the ac and the serpentine belt because that broke while I was driving after they said it was good and safe to drive.

On my way home. Going through in town (slow)traffic all of sudden I notice I had no power steering & no brakes, no please pull out , I noticed if I keep my rpm about 1500, I would get a little power steering & brakes back!, 4 miles to get home , I drove home slowly what happened was I lost my serpentine belt tensioner!!! . My main purpose, for my truck is to toe my fifth wheel RV!!, I live in the north west of us, like! in the mountains!! terrified that it won’t happen again!????.

Dodge ram 2002 abs brake module failure. No recourse for repairs. Dodge has rendered this part obsolete and although they have the technology to repair or replace it they neglect to help thousands of vehicle owners.

This has been a issue going on several months . I can be driving down the road on any giving day , road conditions wet or dry . I was driving 57 mph and vehicle in front of me hit the brakes ,causing me to hit mine as of sudden , but instead of stopping the brake pedal shifts toward the gas pedal causing me to brake and hit the gas at the same time. No I didn't wreck but came close as I corrected it very quick. This could have xausd me to run into on coming traffic and seriously caused fatal injuries or death. Thank god it wasn't raining . Vehicle hasn't been inspected because I don't have the money to have it inspected . The brake pedal I checked and you can take your hand and the pedal will go side to side over the gas pedal . There was no warning light or check engine light for this issue.

The esp/bas warning lights came on. I had the truck diagnosed and the automatic braking system has failed. Chrysler/fiat has discontinued the parts necessary to repair the vehicle and they don't appear to be available in the us anymore. If it cannot be repaired, this poses a dire crash/accident risk to me and my family. I can't imagine a manufacturer not providing parts for such a significant safety risk. Thanks for your time.

The brakes locked up twice since purchased the vehicle. The left side locking up would have caused me to veer into oncoming traffic. Years late when the right side locked up would've have veered right causing an accident. This last time the brakes aren't releasing. This happening 3 times has reproduced itself. The 1st time I took it to a dealership. No warning lamps were showing or any symptoms for this happening. I've purchased the lifetime warranty on this vehicle.

Mechanic said tipm went bad. All gages guit working, check engine light stays on wind shield whipers turn on & off, engine stalls,all lights randomly turn on and off head lights turn signals exc. Transmission and 4 wheel drive say repair. Anti lock breaks acting up. Mechanic said this is happening alot for 2004 Dodge ram trucks.

The brake pedal goes to floor spongy break pedal.

Had taken my vehicle in for the recall they said it was fine , after wards two months later my front right break locked up. But now my rear end that was supposed to been fixed from recall vut now it is making loud noise.

R61 anti-lock brake system (abs) module . . . Through 2005 model year Dodge Ram 1500/2500/3500 pickup, 2004 through 2005 model. R61 doesn't provide relief for 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 owners.

I was getting off work and going about 25 mph on the street when I was involved in a head on collision, I had seen the light change when I pushed on the brake pedal, I heard a crunching noise and no brakes. All I could do was hold on to the steering wheel. The seat belt did not lock up and the air bags did not deploy, with me ending up hitting the steering. Wheel.

Owner of j. P. Direct auto sales in florence, ky sold me a vehicle with odometer discrepancies. The owner sold the vehicle at a little over 133,000 miles but the odometer has never rolled over since I drove the truck off the lot. Furthermore, a mechanic performed an engine light reading that indicated an issue tripped around 146,000 miles. The owner is not owning up to the odometer discrepancy and making returning the truck very difficult.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 doge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the contact had tried depressing the brake pedal; however, the pedal depressed all the way to floor. The contact continued to pump the brake until it slowed down, however, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. No medical attention was required at the scene and a police report was filed(#sp19360029). The vehicle was towed to an independent body shop and was totaled. The contact was unaware if the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. No recalls have been associated with the failure. The failure mileage was 108,573.

In approximately 2019 I received multiple warning lights including "serv 4wd", tcs disabled, and abs warning lights. Had it looked at by the dealer who replaced wheel sensors and performed diagnostics. All lights cleared exept tcs disabled warning which is indicationg that the tcs system is not functioning and has a collateral effect of the cruise control not being able to turn on. I have paid to have this remaining indication diagnosed on two different occasions, each leading to a dealership recommendation to replace the hydraulic control unit / abs module at a cost of approximately $1500 and a wait for backordered parts exceeding one year - all with no guarantee of this fixing the problem. My truck has been in this condition for about 5 years now. A quick google search will show that there have been multiple instances of faults of this type affecting the hcu/abs modules with the problem becoming particularly prevalent in the 2017-2018 model years. Thousands of complaints have been submitted and class action lawsuits started, but it appears fca has yet to adequately address this potential safety issue caused by a defective part that is known to them.

Abs controller stopped working. This results in the loss of your anti lock brakes and traction control. This occurred while driving down interstate. According to my mechanic this problem cannot be fixed due to a nation wide back order of the components needed due to the high volume of failures that has occurred.

Abs control module failed while driving causing no anti-lock brakes or traction control. Vehicle throwing codes c2200 and c120d. The part is a dealer only part and I am still waiting to get this repaired two weeks after failure.

On June 9,2018 at approximately 10:20am I entered and parked in my driveway. The vehicle's shifter was placed into park and the engine was shut off. I exited my now parked vehicle and went inside at 10:21. Prior to exiting the vehicle the vehicle slightly rocks and the and the parking gear engages indicating the vehicle is in park. Moments later, 6 minutes at 10:27am June 9, 2017 the vehicle rolls backwards from a stationary position and struck the brick mailbox at the end of the driveway causing unrepairable damage to the mailbox. The vehicle sustained damage to the tailgate bumper and undercarriage. The neighbor across the street was outside during the incident and witnessed the event and notified me. The home security camera captured the above described of events. After notifying fiat Chrysler automobiles I learned of a safety recall NHTSA recall # 17v-821 the brake transmission shift interlock. This safety recall may result in the following: the transmission may be shifted of the park position without a key in the ignition or a brake pedal application. This increases the potential for an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in a vehicle crash or injury without prior warning. This is what exactly happened. The fiat Chrysler automobiles investigations stated they were sorry and not responsible. This is absolutely absurd. Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v821000 (brake transmission shift interlock) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The glenn polk Ford located at (4320 n interstate 35, gainesville, TX 76240 (940) 668-8770) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. "parts distribution disconnect" as.

Waiting on solution for recall for slipping out of gear, was told by company to use emergency brake. Now emergency brake cable has stretched so much, it has a major sag issue.

I have had the totally integrated power module replaced twice now due to failure. Apparently this is a very common issue in Dodges. It has caused my window defroster, wipers, door locks and windows randomly not to work. Pretty much anything electrical. My passenger airbag goes on and off, regardless of whether or not someone is in the passenger seat. My abs brake system has been malfunctioning and locking up on me. This has been a huge safety issue when there's cold weather or rain and all of a sudden my defroster or wipers arent working or my turn signal is cutting out. The tipm on other Jeep and Chrysler products have been recalled. I don't understand why Dodge hasnt issued a recall. This needs to be investigated farther.

My truck caught on fire in engine area , engulfed back to the box whole truck destroyed! inspector not know what caused fire. Truck was totaled. Stationary for two hours at work.

While in motion, when you apply pressure to the brake pedal, the pedal will travel towards the gas pedal. This brake pedal bushing seems to be worn out and causes the brake pedal to slightly slide from left to right (like a pendulum on a clock). The gas and brake pedals are fairly close together and if your foot is off set on the brake pedal, your shoe will catch the gas pedal when pressing down on the brake pedal. This will cause the engine to speed up while you are trying to stop the vehicle. To replace this brake pedal bushing part seems to be not in production any more and therefore no replacement is available according to the service manager at the dealership. - waterford, mi, USA.

2007 Dodge Ram 1500 after getting fuel every stop or turn truck without warning stalls no power. Truck will hesitate but start no codes have come up and changing gas and fuel system showed no signs or failure dealers have no answer.

Team: the emergency parking brake levers located in rear rotors corroded & locked up preventing usage. I noticed this because the cable was drooping & banging against the frame.

Team: part # ch52010176-ag has failed. It's the upper part of the emergency parking brake. The truck is garage kept. The brake is not used. Dodge wants $400 to replace it. It's currently banging the frame.

My rear right brakes have fallen off twice .

Getting off the off ramp I could not stop in a second vibrations started another car in that car went to another car with a pregnant girl. . . . . . I have asked over and over for help and costs are killing my business and had brake problems etc. You guys please help me here. . . ?.

The truck is falling apart. The welds are coming apart & the whole body is rotting faster than I can fix it. I will not be able to get another inspection sticker. I have replaced the transfer case, water pump, serpentine belt & pulleys, rear drive shaft, upper & lower ball joints, tyrods and the whole brake system. The truck needs to be recalled.

Driving 30 mph sudden strong smell of gasoline then visible white fog of vapor rose from defrost vents (defroster/fan not on) pulled over immediately but brake pedal went to floor with no activation of brakes. All this happened quickly, within 10 seconds used emergency brake to stop vehicle to evacuate 10 year old daughter and self barely in time. Bystander shouting that it was on fire. Fire erupted from under hood and spread into cab. Fire dept. Called by bystander as we used fire extinguishers unsuccessfully. Truck was engulfed and destroyed. Recalls were addressed spring of 2003. A later recall not realized by us includes fix for antilock brake controller corrosion that could cause fire. Geico claim # 0480694490101028 but no compensation, as not covered for fire. Fire dept. Took a report, police said no collision so they didn't. I don't currently have the fire dept. Report but may be able to obtain it.
