Vehicle stalls intermittently, 2 to 5 times a week, loses power steering, power brakes, rpm, other dashboard indicators, the odometer readout displays "nobus". This is dangerous because if there is no shoulder, you are stopped on the road. To restart the vehicle, the driver side wiring harness on the computer (which is on the passenger side engine wall) is pulled and replaced without turning off the key, a noise occurs like an electrical connection . Is being made, then the vehicle can usually be restarted. Sometimes then there is a check engine light on, or not! the dealers and my local mechanic do not know what the problem is but the potential must be known since it sends the "nobus" message.

Dashboard has cratered and pieces break off to this day. Have had multiple cuts and wiring issues since the beginning of this problem and worried that air bag might be involved with the issues. Have placed a cover over gaping holes while waiting for a recall regarding this problem.
Two- three years ago years ago I notice a break in my dashboard that break has led to the dashboard falling apart exposing wiring. When the dashboard cave (part of ) in all the gages stop working (speed, temp. Gas, ect. ,) and the air bag warning light came on. This happen while driving .
Over the past year my dashboard has slowly self destruct. It started with a single crack, then another and another and another, to the point where it has literally collapsed. My a/c vents are effected as well as my radio is now starting to act up. I am in fear that with the intense arizona sun, my wiring may start to short out and cause a fire. I understand that this is a widespread problem. Can Dodge be held accountable? I'm worried.
Dashboard cracking and falling apart has led to electrical malfunctions. The main one is that when switching from dim to bright lights during night driving, the headlights go out completely.

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 quadcab. On June 2, 2007, the vehicle caught fire after being parked for ten minutes. The vehicle had previously been driven for approximately twenty-five minutes. The fire department inspected the damage and stated that the fire originated from the dashboard. The vehicle was destroyed with the exception of the engine. There was mild property damage, including burned grass and trees. There were no physical injuries or deaths. The contact notified Dodge and they offered to inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer issued a reference number because the VIN was not associated with any recalls. The manufacturer wanted to seize the vehicle, but the contact's insurance agency advised otherwise due to possible contamination. The manufacturer stated the same thing about the insurance company and that no one will take possession until both parties can inspect the vehicle together in full detail. A police report was filed. The current and failure mileages were 80,000.

Dodge 2001 ram truck has a fracturing and collapsing dash, I have recently been made aware that there are many other people with the same model truck experiencing the same problem including headlights shutting of when alternating between highs and lows possibly caused by the pieces falling from the dash and interrupting the wiring.
My 2001 Dodge ram dash is cracking. I seen a special on my local news station and the parties present on the news cast had the same problems as I did but worse. I think this should be looked at before someone gets killed by the air bag deploying or lights going out.
Severe cracking of the dashboard. Other vehicles from manufacturer have even lost electrical functions while driving down the road due to the dashboard dropping. I am concerned, and Dodge said tough luck your vehicle was out of warranty.

I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. In 2005 the dashboard started with some fine line cracks which have gotten longer and larger until this year . The dashboard has totally caved in and broken into several large pieces. My concern is with the area beneath the dashboard that was now exposed along with the condition of the dashboard. I have experienced a electrical problem of the truck , not starting. Like the battery was dead. I have replaced the battery at least twice and the starter and alternator professionally checked by 3 different mechanics trying to locate the problem. Also, we have tried to trace the system for a short. I was wondering if the caved in dashboard has exposed some wires to the elements. We live in florida and try to amour all moisture the dashboard and use a sun screen for protection. At first I thought it might just be my Dodge truck, but my daughter has a 2001 Dodge 1500 and the dashboard started cracking for no reason. Is this a Dodge problem? I happened to catch a news story about this same problem and found that we are not alone, that this seemed to be a problem with the Dodge trucks along with potential electrical problems. You can contact scooper@local6. Com for more information on the data he has collected concerning this issue. If would seem Dodge needed to look in to the problem.

Dashboard is collapsing. Experiencing multiple electrical failures: the radio, high beam indicator, speakers and side mirrors are not working.
Cracking of dashboard and short in headlights.
My complaint is in regard to my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 dashboard. It has been cracking for years and the wiring underneath is now almost 100% exposed. I have already had electrical problems and have just recently in the past month have gotten the electrical system restored. I have contacted daimler Chrysler and constantly been given the run around. Please help me as I know I am not the only consumer to have this same problem. Thank you very much.
Entire gauge cluster failed. Headlights and running lights came on with the switch in the off position. Turn signals, emergency flashers and brake lights did not operate. Electric locks did not operate. It has happened twice. The first time it corrected itself after checking all of the fuses. The second time it was taken to the dealership. The dealership has diagnosed a internal short in the gauge cluster with an expected repair cost of $900. 00.

The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact experienced numerous electrical failures ranging from the fuse box and power lock:windows to the interior lighting. She took the vehicle to the dealer on several occasions and a technician repeatedly rewired the electrical system, replaced the fuses, and the motor for the power window devices. Immediately after the repair, the electrical failures recurred. She returned to the dealer and a technician stated that the wiring harness melted, which caused the alarm system to fail and have to be replaced. The parts are on back order and neither the manufacturer nor the dealer can provide an estimate of when the parts will be available. She has copies of documents pertaining to the repair history of the electrical system. The manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 28,000 and current mileage was 49,369.

I have this truck for 2 years and in that 2 years I have many complications with the electrical system. The main problem is the headlight switch melting and burning the wires in the dash. I have had the switch replaced twice and it continues to burn out and melt. I am so scared the truck is going to catch on fire one day that rareley drive the truck. I still have the old parts that were replaced but dont feel it is the switch causing all the problems. I feel it is the whole wiring system. I read the custom reports on mycarstats. Com it seems the 1996 Dodge dakota had the same problems. There were even reports of the truck catching on fire. If this has already been reported on many differnet occaions; why havent they recalled it??? I would appreciate a response and hopefully Dodge taking care of this problem free of charge. Please help!!! mrfixitup@bellsouth. Net.
The dashboard lights do not work. Dealer serviced the vehicle five times, and they still do not work. The consumer cannot see the speed, mileage and other gauges.
Fire started in area of cigarette lighter/radio and melted all surrounding componenets, resulting in extensive smoke damage to complete interior including seats, headliner, windows. A portion of the carpet and seats were burned. Vehicle is inoperable. Insurance pending.
The wiring harness on this year model has an insufficient ground which leads to a short in the harness. This in turn causes multiple problems, such as the trucks smoking from under the dash and or catching on fire completely. Please check with the insurance companies thank you for your time.
2000 Dodge 1500 truck. Less than 3 years old a dash board is cracking all over. Have seen 2 other doing the same and multiple comments on internet about same problems. Contacted Dodge dealer, customer relations(800# twice) and e-mail customer site. All said too bad too many mileage on vehicle. What does mileage have to do with dash board cracking. Could not contact anyone above phone representative at 800 number. Said her boss does not take phone call etc.
While driving at 30mph vehicle caught on fire, flames came out the dashboard. Dealer notified.
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 the dashboard in it is cracking and falling in leaving wires exposed to the hot sun it is cracked all around passenger air bag I don't know if air bag still works the exposed wiring looks like fire hazard and headlight possible head or tail light failure this vehicle only has 60,400 miles on it still a lot of life left in this truck except for the dash problem. The last Dodge I will buy unless they stand behind there product good or bad.
The main wiring harness that controls all ignition and dash instruments separated while the consumer was using tilt steering and the vehicle stalled.
1999 Dodge Ram 1500 with dissintigrating dash board leading to electrical malfunctions. When multiple dealers were asked about the problem the answers given were always "because it is not a mechanical problem, then it is not a warrenty issue. " was also told that since it was not a mechanical problem that it won't be a recall matter unless it might cause a safety issue.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
