36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/11/2020

I turned the key to start the engine and as it started cranking smoke started coming out of the defroster and then fire started coming out the engine hood. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher handy and opened the hood and put out the fire. Wondered where the fire started so tried starting again and fire started immediately at the rear of the engine or on top of the bell housing. I also smelled fuel. The truck was next to my garage and had been driven a few days earlier. If I had not put out the fire my whole house could have burned down. I donated the truck to wheels 4 vets.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/19/2020

We were driving on the highway 55 mph and heard a noise while exiting and we thought we hit a large hole. Before we reached the end of the off ramp traveling at approximately 50 mph but giving the truck some gas to accelerate we heard a very loud pop and it felt like something hit the bottom of the truck. We pulled off to side and checked under the truck to see the slip yolk and u joint of the driveline were broken and the flange nut on rear end was backed off and the rear end was shattered. Also the fuel vapor recovery lines were broke from the slip yolk and u joint breaking. Is this issue related to recall number 14v79600.

After filling up with fuel on serval different occasions the truck will shut off with no warning lights or service lights. This causes the power steering and everything to stop. When at a stop sign it can be started safely from park or neutral but when moving it has to be put in neutral to re start because the brake system does not work good either. It has happened at stop sign and stop light as well as driving down the road at 55 mph.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

The truck stalls after filling with fuel. It can happen at any time; stalled in a turn causing the loss of power steering; stalled at stops; causes bucking. At no other time does the truck have these issues. I have heard of other having this issue with this model and others such as Jeep, etc. Regarding the "when did this happen?" question below, it happens at 95+% of fill-ups. The last time it happened was 6/1/19.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 05/30/2019

Engine shuts off after every fill up at the gas station if vehicle is placed in a moderately hard stop or making a right hand turn on a freeway on ramp or city street causing the engine to shut off completely and leaving vehicle in motion without power to steering and brakes. This has happened more time than I can remember.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

Having issue with truck stalling out right after fueling vehicle. This happens with out any warning. Several times it has happened while turning, twice going down a hill and multiple time when coming to a fast or even a slow stop or turning. This happens everytime after refueling up the vehicle to full. The engine just quits on the highway with a loss of steering and braking. I've almost been in several wrecks do to these problems. When this happens, steering and brakes are lost creating an extremely hazardous condition and could end in a collision. This also happens when making turns or maneuvering through traffic.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

Having issue with truck stalling out right after fueling vehicle. This happens with out any warning. Several times it has happened while turning, twice going down a hill and once so far while sitting at a stop sign. This happens once a week right after fueling up the vehicle. I have been researching this issue online and it seems that many owners have been experiencing this issue. Many have spent over $2000 dollars in repairs at the dealer and still have the issue. Many also report this problem of the engine cutting out while in heavy traffic and crossing traffic. Some have reported being on the highway and the engine cutting out at 70 mph. This is becoming a major concern as I use this vehicle for towing my travel trailer with my family. This is a serious condition and from what I have read Dodge is not doing anything but charging people and not fixing the issue.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 03/16/2019

Engine stalls when driving at low speed and when in idle. This started happening approximately 3 years ago. Check engine has never turned on.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/26/2019

When fueling the truck, fuel overflows after the pump shuts off. This causes fuel to spill out onto the truck and ground. The amount is significant and leaves a pool of fuel on the ground. This happens at any gas station, at any pump regardless of time of day or season. The pictures I attached are examples I found on line that illustrate the issue exactly as I experience it.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/30/2018

I have reported this same problem numerous times before. The engine just quits on the highway with a loss of steering and braking. It seems to happen after refueling and a strong odor of fuel is noticed. This happened within 2 or 3 minutes after refueling and while approaching interstate 35 in waco, TX, on 11/30/2018. An inquiry was made to the local dealership who said they were unaware of the problem and that no complaints have been filed with them. In reviewing other consumer websites that is not true, there are numerous complaints about this same problem and it is definitely a critical safety issue. It is time for the government to investigate this issue before someone is killed or seriously injured.

59 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/29/2018

Started my truck up. Then shifted into reverse with my foot on the brake, the truck suddenly went into a sudden acceleration. Like I had my foot on the gas pedal. I had to steep on the brake pedal very hard and even with that the 5. 7 hemi was a lot of power to stop. I avoided hitting a concrete wall and a side of a house. Luckily I shifted into park and turned it off. It could of ended very badly. I now am not going to use the truck until I find out what's going on. I have called Dodge corporation and they said they never heard of that happening or not at liberty to say. I have contacted my local Dodge dealership and made an appointment for a diagnostic test. They told me on the phone that this is the first time that they ever heard of such a thing happening. I advised them to take a look at google and type in Dodge ram sudden acceleration. Upon my own research a number of Dodge mechanics have said the following. 1. Floor mat was stuck under pedal 2. Tps sensor 3. Iac sensor 5. Throttle body one or all needs to be replaced. In conclusion I would hope that Dodge looks and address this matter before it's to late.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Received a safety recal u04/NHTSA 18v-160 . I took it to the local Dodge dealership in rome georgia & was told they could not do the necessary repairs and would consult with Dodge company engineers and call me. They have not contacted me since it has been 3 months.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 05/23/2018

After I refuel, whether it's 10 gal. Or top it off, the truck will stall everytime as I drive just the first several miles(maybe as soon as 100 yards or up to 10-12 miles or so). It only happens when I come to a stop, like at a red light or at low speed making a turn. It always starts back up, not always easily though. Of course when this happens, power brakes and power steering is lost. This has put me in a couple of dangerous situations while making a turn and suddenly lose power steering. After it's stalled several (4-5) times, it seems to recover until I refuel again and we start all over. This is definitely a major safety issue and a recall needs to happen to finally fix this recurring problem that has been happening for some time now. I purchased this vehicle new and didn't have a problem for the first 40,000 or so miles. It now has 65,000 miles and this problem re-occurs with every single refuel.

65 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/21/2018

About 2 1/2 years ago I was driving my truck on a state highway travelling around 55 to 60 mph when the engine suddenly died. Of course my power steering no longer worked but I was able to pull off the road. This was a scary situation that could have turned out very badly. Luckily, I was in a spot where I could pull over. This particular highway doesn't have a lot of shoulder area. I turned the key off and turned it back on and the truck started back up and everything was fine. This happened a couple of more times when I was travelling on the highway at higher speeds and also driving on a city street at lower speeds. I took it to my mechanic and he connected a code reader and based on the codes it was showing he changed both the cam shaft position sensor and the crank shaft position sensor but the engine continued to die while the vehicle was in motion. The last time it happened was on 1/21/2018 on the same state highway except that this time it didn't want to start back up. I had it towed to a different mechanic and he ran compression tests that showed very little compression on one side of the engine and no compression on the other side. He said he wouldn't be able to tell me what was wrong with it until he opened the engine which would cost several hundred dollars and then who knows how much after the problem was determined. I have not had the money to do that so it has been sitting at the mechanic's garage for the past 2 1/2 years. Every other mechanic I talked to said that I should just go ahead and replace the engine, which I cannot afford to do. They said 2006 was one of the worst years for the Dodge ram engine. When it died it was 11 years old but had less than 110,000 miles on it.

68 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/16/2017

Vehicle stalls after a gas fill-up. I start my truck after filling up at the pump. Pull out of the station, go a little ways down the road, stop at a stoplight. Sit at idle for maybe 30 seconds & the truck dies. The truck only does this after fillups. No check engine. No codes. Looks like there are a lot of people complaining about the same thing. This has been happening constantly after every fill up. The truck runs fine afterwards.

69 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500
