Dodge Ram 3500 owners have reported 3 problems related to check engine light on (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Diesel, 5. 9
while driving at 50mph the check engine light illuminated and shortly there after the engine stopped running all together. I was able to safely stop the pickup along the shoulder of the roadway. I noticed the smell of diesel fuel and the left side of the engine was covered in diesel. After my pickup was towed home I researched the symptom and discovered I wasn't alone with this issue. It seems the bolt that holds a clamp around the fuel line to the number four cylinder backs out allowing movement or vibration to this fuel line and a leak develops in the high pressure line and diesel fuel to spray into the engine. In addition to the potential fire hazard from the diesel fuel the sudden loss of power is very concerning. I found several posts on forums regarding this same issue. The parts guy at cummins said he has sold as many as 6-7 of these fuel lines per month. I can only imagine how many fuel lines were sold at the Dodge dealerships around the unites states.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact was traveling 35 mph when the vehicle decelerated independently and stalled. The check engine warning light illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who confirmed that the turbo needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted yet the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 107,000 and the current mileage was 145,000.
The date given above is the date we have actual paperwork for proof. Problem really started shortly after purchasing the truck brand new from dealer. I has always been take to the same dealer for on time maintenance. The check engine light comes on all the time. It is a very bad exhaust issue. I have done research on this and it shows that this problem can cause fires. No one will help. There many others with same issue.
