3 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

Takata recall - when they replaced my driver's side airbag they broke the electrical substrate (in the airbag cover) that functions the horn. Apparently this is happening on most of these as the part is on back order. I haven't had a horn since may 2016 and have almost been in a wreck as a result.

4 Horn Assembly problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 09/12/2015

Arrived at lowes, left the truck running out front of the store while undloading riding mower to return. When we came back out vehicle had shut off and smoke coming from under the hood. Lifted the hood and noted fuse box smoking. Jumped back in truck and made sure engine turned off and key out of ingnition. While waiting for friends to towe the truck, wipers started horn and alarm started then car started up and took off across the parking lot. Luckily there were no vehicle or persons in front of the vehicle when this happened and was good thing we waited outside for friends instead of returning inside the store. My husband was able to jump in the truck, but without the key in the ignition he was unable to brake the truck or steer the truck, so because it was a manual he was able to get it out of gear and apply emergency brake. Sadly after this occurred I have discovered even more horrific incidences where this has happened to people while driving leaving them without steering or brakes. Dodge is aware of the problem and still no recall. I've even seen this described as a "common occurance". . . . . . . Really ! no crash or fatalities this time, but by the sound too many near misses and who knows how many have been caused by this problem.

5 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 06/12/2014

As I was driving down the road to work I turned on the blinker and a bell went off, then the windshield wiper started spraying fluid on the windows and the wipers would not work. I was 2 blocks from my office and pulled in and turned the engine off. When I exited the vehicle a smelled what smelled like electrical fire. I opened the hood and noticed smoke coming from the fuse box. I went into my office and was getting ready to call for a tow truck when I heard the trucks horn started honking, I ran outside and the vehicles lights were flashing on and off and the truck was starting running and then turning off all on its own with out a key in the ignition. The smoke was really pouring out and the started kept trying to start. I disconnected the batteries and removed the fuse box. This is a serious safety issue and I have read numerous blogs regarding this problem this morning. Thank goodness I was stopped in my office parking lot when this happened as if I was going down the road this could have killed someone.

9 Horn Assembly problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/14/2006

2004 Dodge Ram 3500. Out of park. Vehicle does not go all the way into park, and the vehicle will roll away when you get out. We had a recall on this problem only to now have the horn blair when you are backing up and you have the door open to gage the distance. This startled my husband when backing into a very close garage space, making him hit the accelerator and smash into the side of the garage. We have been told by Dodge it is not a problem with the vehicle it is with the operators of the vehicle. But only the operators of 2004 and 2005 ram 2500 and 3500 trucks???????? not 1500 or any other trucks. It is amazing to me that only owners of 2004 & 2005 Dodge ram 2500 and 3500 trucks are idiots.

10 Horn Assembly problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/10/2006

The fix for the park/reverse issue on the Dodge trucks is a joke. The lights blinking and horn blowing is not a fix at all. The transmission needs to be fixed right or some sort of audible alarm needs to be installed versus the horn blowing and waking up the whole neighborhood each time the door is opened when I need to back up. Updated.
