1 Starter problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 01/06/2016

Tipm issues multiple times replaced wipers, lights, horn all go crazy on 4 separate occasions truck has engaged starter and engine started with no key in ignition. A real safety hazard as the truck is a manual transmission and if left in gear it takes off. I've owned the truck approx 5 years with tipm replaced at least 5 times dealer has no answers. The only way to stop the truck when this starts is to disconnect batteries. Happens with no warning at all. Always wondering where is a safe place to park it and if the next time will be the time it burns to the ground.

3 Starter problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 05/18/2012

Driving down my street. The engine shut off and windshield washer function turned on. I pulled over and tried cycling my key to restart the truck. Then with the key in off position smelled something burning. Opened the hood to see the tipm (totally integrated power module) smoking. The truck then started by itself and nearly ran me over (manual transmission truck was in 2nd gear). Truck moved about 10ft before shutting off again. Got truck in neutral before starter reengaged and could do nothing to stop starter from turning the engine over until both battery terminal were disconnected. The truck was towed back to my house and the tipm was found badly burned. About 1/4 of the main circuit card burnt up and disintegrated.

4 Starter problem of the 2000 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/17/2006

Low beam headlights stopped working. Had repair done (dealer) then next day vehicle makes no contact with starter, everything else works. Repaired at dealer, headlights don't work. With rental vehicle replacement of starter (dealership advised), replacement of alternator ( dealership advised), replacement of batteries (dealership advised), headlights not working. Brought back to houston to dealer all at my expense of $1,850. 00. Took to another dealer and have been told that I need an entire wiring harness to the tune of $2,823. 00. All techs have made the same comment, Dodge made the wiring too tight, constantly in a bind when raising and lowering the steering wheel. Don't trust them anymore. Was there a fire question; not yet. Date is approximate.
