It appears most people begin experiencing this issue at 50,000-90,000 miles. The cost to replace the engine is between $8,000 and $9,000, and my vehicle is no longer under warranty. I am still paying off this car, which makes this financially devastating — and this failure occurred well before the end of a reasonable engine lifespan. I’m concerned this issue poses a safety risk, as coolant loss and engine failure could happen suddenly while driving.
