1 Hood problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/25/2025

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact used a vehicle scanner to scan the vehicle. The contact retrieved dtc: p0446 (evaporative emission control system (evap) vent control circuit malfunction). Additionally, the contact stated that the infotainment system was frozen and was inoperable, and there was rust underneath the hood because the vehicle was not equipped with a hood shroud. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

2 Hood problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/28/2022

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while the contact husband was pulling things out the truck, the contact heard a dinging sound from the vehicle follow by the hood of the truck lowering as if it was to close. The contact’s husband was able to move from out the way. On another occasion the failure occurred again and struck the contact's husband on the shoulder causing minor injuries but did not seek medical attention. The failure reoccurred several times. The dealer was contacted, and they stated they could exchange the vehicle but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 96,000.
