The contact owns a 2024 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the liftgate opened independently. While washing the vehicle with a brush and touching a bumper, the liftgate opened. While placing groceries in the tailgate, the tailgate closed and struck the contact on the head. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who determined that an intended liftgate opening and that the vehicle worked as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 5,996.
