1 Trunk Lid Latch problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the rearview camera became inoperable. The contact stated that occasionally, the rearview camera image was distorted. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard with the low brake fluid warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was brake fluid leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the flexible rear brake hose had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that there were intermittent failures with the trunk latch. The contact stated that occasionally the trunk latch was inoperable while attempting to open the trunk manually or while using the foot-activated feature. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign numbers: 25v544000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and 25v572000 (back over prevention); however, the parts to perform the recall repairs were not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

2 Trunk Lid Latch problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/27/2022

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the trunk failed to open while using the fob key and the trunk button in the vehicle. Additionally, the trunk warning light was illuminated while the trunk was properly closed, causing the battery to drain. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the trunk sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
