2 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/10/2019

The driver side brake/turn signal stopped working on 10/10/19 and when I removed the taillight the socket was melted together with the light assembly wish I had a hard time taking it apart, I called Ford service department and they said there was nothing they can do about unless I pay to fix it, the car parts shouldn't melt that is why the vehicle is equipped with fuses to burn out before the vehicle catches on fire. The print on the melted part number 2u5a 13411-08 080651109.

3 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Right rear tail lamp is burnt and turn signal no longer works. I've noted many instances of this occurring on line. There should be a safety recall as this has a fire potential.

4 Turn Signal problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/27/2018

Rear turn signal lamp and socket melted and burnt. Happened to right side then soon after left side. Replacement is showing signs of melting already. This appears to be a safety issue where a fire could happen. I have seen many complaints on auto forums for the same problem on other models and year.

5 Turn Signal problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Rear turn signals keep going out about every 3 to 4 months. Both rear turn signal sockets passenger and driver side.

6 Turn Signal problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/20/2017

My rear turn signals have been working intermittently lately and I thought it might be the bulb. When I went to replace the bulb I noticed that the bulb socket appears to be burnt. I immediately went online to see what needs to be done and realized that there are a bunch of other Ford Edges out there with the same problem. I felt it was necessary to report it in case this is a safety issue that could result in a fire. The Ford dealership claims that they do not know of any other complaints, yet when I look online, I see a whole lot with the same issue.

7 Turn Signal problem of the 2009 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

Brake and turn signal light socket is burnt and charred. I have had to replace the bulbs at least every other month. I was told by Ford that I must have used the wrong wattage bulb. Internet searches suggest otherwise. There are countless other complaints regarding the extremely hazardous and dangerous issue. Ford will not acknowledge that there is an issue or offer to pay the $100 to fix the problem.

8 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/23/2017

Vehicle continously fries turn signal lamps. I've replaced 12 of them since we bought it 4 years ago. Every 4-6 months it actually melts the bulb housing and I have to pry it out. If the vehicle catches fire I plan to sue Ford. No pattern to when they burn it. Completely random but I've saved photos of each one.

10 Turn Signal problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/07/2016

I was driving and noticed my right blinker flashing quickly so I got a new rear right turn signal bulb. When replacing the bulb I noticed that the bulb was melted into the socket. I checked the other side and it was charred and melted even worse then the bulb that wasn't working. This is very scary and a safety hazard as it could start a fire and my child is in the back seat!.

11 Turn Signal problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/22/2016

When operating the turn signals in either direction the rear light would not work intermittently at first, and then permanently. Upon pulling the rear bulb housing, I noticed the turn signal light socket was burnt in appearance. Opon trying to remove the bulbs, one of the retaining tabs on one side broke off. Inside the sockets (both sides) were full of whitish corrosion. The main issue here is twofold: if you look online on the Ford Edge forum, you will see many, many other people have had the exact same issue. Secondly, this presents a fire and driving hazard. Keep in mind my wife's car does not even have 70,000 miles on it yet and is garage kept. She does not ride the brakes and turn signals are used as often as needed. . . Hazards hardly ever used. I'll have to pay for 2 new sockets and bulbs with no guarantee it won't happen again.

Rear turn signal and brake light overheated and started to melt the bulb and connectors.

13 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/16/2015

The left rear turn signal stopped working. After searching online I discovered it was a commonly reported problem. Upon removing the lens assembly I noticed the same thing others are reporting. The plastic base of the bulb is melted. The bulb is still good however. The bulb socket is charred obviously from excessive heat. Nothing else including the rubber gasket around the socket seems to have been affected by this heat.

Right brake light and turn signal keep blowing and look burnt.

15 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

Right rear turn signal was not working. When I went to replace the bulb, I noticed the base of the bulb had melted, the socket was slightly deformed and discolored with soot. I checked online and found several hundred postings of the same problem with Ford Edge cars from many different model years. Curious how many it takes for a recall.

16 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/10/2014

Making a left turn using my turn signal, the turn signal lamp on the dashboard started to flash very rapidly. I recognized this as a burned-out lamp. After stopping I checked to find the left rear lamp was not blinking. The basic running light worked however. Upon removing the assembly, I found the lamp socket partially melted and charred. I removed the lamp, which tested out to be good. The socket had failed. I then removed the right-hand rear lamp assembly and found that it has been very hot as was somewhat charred. I will replace both.

20 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Rear drivers side turn signal lamp went out, when I went to replace bulb I noticed rear tail lamp turn signal-parking lamp sockets are burnt and would seem to be a possible fire hazard, other people have complained about other Ford vehicles with the same condition. But Ford doesn't seem to think there is a problem.

21 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/30/2013

When replacing my left rear signal light I noticed that the base of the turn signal bulb was melted. I removed the bulb and replaced with a new one and the turn signal worked fine. 23 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/05/2012

I noticed at a stop light, when making a left turn, the inside indicator was blinking fast, telling me I had an issue. Once home, I checked my turn signals, driver side was not working at all. Had my son change the bulb and found the plastic at the base of the bulb was severely melted. The socket was darkened but still in working order, replaced the bulb and is working for now. Went to Ford dealer that I bought the vehicle from and they said they knew nothing about this issue with other Edge's. (what ever !) I wanted them to look and the socket and harness but they wanted $98. 00 just to "check it out". And of course, I'm out of the 30 month / 36k warranty. Good thing I carry full coverage, because if the car burns to the ground, you can bet I won't be buying another Ford.

24 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/07/2012

I have a 2008 Edge with 18,000 miles on it. One week ago my left turn signal stopped working. On investigation I discovered the socket holding the bulb had melted. With 13 days left on the warranty I took it to Ford, they replaced it and the bulb. When I got home I check the right turn signal, same thing, socket was burned worse. They are replacing this today as they did not have another socket in stock. I am going to take a picture of this.

The rear turn signal bulbs on my 2007 Ford Edge are burning out on a regular basis of approx every 4-5 month. The bulbs and assembly both show signs of blackening and melting. 2007 Ford Edge, both rear turn signal lights shorted out within a few weeks of each other. In both cases, the base of bulb that plugs into socket has a burned black appearance leading me to believe this could be a fire safety hazard in this model. I have replaced both bulbs and my husband is reporting to our local dealer.
