Power Steering Pump problems of the 2008 Ford Escape

1 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2019

Came out of pet Smart started my car went to back up and had no power streeing. Checked under the hood and found no power streeing pump or no belt. Called my mechanic, had to drive 3. 5 miles with no power streeing, diagnose the sensor. Mechanic put the sensor and the streeing turn to the right. Meaning the streeing needs to be change and the only way to find that out is to performed the steps. That senior cost $219. 00 which is useless if it turns to the right. Luckily the mechanic said get one from the salvage yard. That cost was $299. 00 for the complete steering. The charge for the labor was $450. 00. This should of been recalled because the power steering sensor so I hope this will be included in the recall for power streering. The vehicle was stationary.

2 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2019

While driving from midland texas to el paso texas on the way back my car started to slow down, on the instrument cluster it stated safely stop this will be the 2nd time this has happened to me I was informed that it can be the mec pump but when calling Ford and putting it in my VIN number it doesn't show that my vehicle is one of the ones that particular has a recall on, it is also having steering issues parts have been replaced, yet still the steering wheel seems loose.

3 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Electric steering pump turns off when steering while driving on highway. The steering angle sensor quits working causing the electric steering pump to turn off. This in turn makes the vehicle hard to steer when driving and may cause a accident.

4 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2013

While driving, power steering went out. Vehicle is equipped with no power steering pump, it has electronic power steering assist. For about the past month, the power steering would not activate and I had to turn off my car and it came back on. The steering while has been shaking while driving. Today though, was the first time it went out while driving. I called Ford consumer line and they seemed unconcerned about this issue. Luckily, we live in the country and do not have much traffic, so I was able to pull the car over before it caused an accident. Looking online, there has been a number of complaints concerning this same issue. The link below, currently has 113 complaints about this same type of issue. I am submitting this complaint before somebody does get injured or killed because somebody's steering goes out on the freeway at a high speed.
