Engine stalls and wont idle engine code po2111.
Engine stalling. Over the last year I have been having problems with my Ford Escape randomly stalling. I have had it at 2 different mechanics and both have been unable to figure out the cause. I did some online research and others has similar issues. They stated the cause was the throttle body. I had that replaced. I am having less of these episodes, but stalling is still occurring occasionally. The stalling always occurs when I am slowing down to stop at either a stop sign or traffic light.
While driving to work, my car died twice. The first time, while approaching a stop light, the engine cut off. When I came to a stop; I put it in park to try and start it again, and it seemed to struggle when starting as if I were out of gas, but I had just filled up my tank that morning. The light turned green, and there was a stop sign about 500 yards away, and as soon as I was coming to a stop again; the engine dies. This time it took twice as long and several attempts to get it started again. Also, when I am sitting idle at a stop light or a stop sign, the rpms will drop very low and start to stall out. I am able to catch it and rev the engine to prevent it from stalling sometimes.
Engine stalled at 70 mph without warning on a busy highway. Still had power steering. Needed to cross three lanes of traffic without engine power. Extremely dangerous situation. Attempted to restart engine approximately 10 times. Each time engine would start, idle for several seconds, and then cut off. Eventually was able to start engine, put engine into neutral and revved engine to moderate rpm speed. Seemed to reset issue and was able to drive away.
This is the 2nd time the engine has stalled. First time was oct. 31st, 2013. Driving in residential street and acceleration decreases, car shutters, and wrench light comes on along with other indicators. Coasts to side of road. After about 2-3 minutes, starts up and able to drive home (approximately 2 miles).
Was driving the vehicle on the interstate at about 60 mph and exited safely. Went through typical stop-and-go rush hour traffic for about 2 minutes until reaching work, in which the campus' speed is set to 25 mph throughout. Vehicle was traveling on work campus a little under 30 mph. Suddenly, the car stalled and the battery and oil warning lights had come on. Steering the vehicle to a safe parking place was difficult as the steering wheel had become tight. Once safely parked, the vehicle was turned off and after 5 seconds turned back on. The engine started up normally. Started driving the vehicle closer to where it was needed to be parked and the engine stalled again after 1000 feet and the steering went tight again. Turned off the vehicle again and after 5 seconds attempted to turn it back on. The engine had trouble starting but after an abnormal amount of time trying to turn over, the engine did. Was able to get the vehicle in the appropriate parking area. Vehicle has full tank of gasoline, 2000 miles over oil change recommendation by dealer, and factory battery. Vehicle has never been off-road but has been subject to easy snow accumulations since purchased from dealership.
Driving on freeway, at about 65mph, when all of the sudden the engine stalled and power was cut dramatically from the engine. Unable to control speed and instantly started stopping. Had to pull over sharply and unsafely on the side of an on-ramp narrowly having car behind us miss us. Turned off vehicle and had to wait about 20 seconds before restarting the car. It then worked ok. Happened several times on one trip of about 20 miles. Took to a dealer and they diagnosed it as the throttle body needing to be replaced.
I was driving in congested morning traffic and the engine stalled. The wrench indicator light popped on as I lost acceleration. I was able to coast on to the median. However, I was almost struck from behind by another car. After about 30 seconds, the car started back up and I immediately went to work and made it home without problems this evening. After researching on the internet, it appears this is a recurring problem and just a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured or hurt. I am afraid to drive now as other complaints indicate this has not only been occurring for quite some time, but it may also continue to happen more frequently and eventually stop running altogether.
While driving the engine stalled, but the lights and radio continued to work. We pulled over and put the car into park and attempted to restart the engine, and it started. However, just a couple of weeks later (this past weekend) it happened again. Both time we were traveling around 20-25 mph on city streets, no warning on indication prior to the stalling, but when it does stall the oil and engine light comes on.
In sept while going up a hill, just made it to the top, had loss of power, engine running but accelerator will not work. Able to coast down hill into a parking lot. After turned car off, started back up. Ran fine until today. Little wrench light came on. Spoke to mechanic, he stated it was a throttle body problem, ok to drive unless you have further problems, it will need to be replaced in the future. Today, Nov. 3, while pulling out from a parking lot, into heavy traffic, car engine stalled, put car into park, turned key to off position, then car started right up. Vehicles behind ours were able to stop, luckily none collided.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, he attempted to make a turn when suddenly the engine stalled with the illumination of the warning indicator. The vehicle resumed normally once restarted. The failure recurred once. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where the technician replaced both the throttle body and motor assembly. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 46,230. Kmj.

Driving on I-95 north. . . . At 60 mph. . . . When the engine almost completely stalled out without warning. The car speed dropped down to 5-7mph. . . And the car started shaking and the engine began rough surging. I barely missed being hit by a large semi truck as I inched the car over to the curb. I was able to get the car off the expressway (going about 5 mph) at the next exit and then turned the car off. The wrench light also appeared. I turned the car off . I called my husband, who told me to see if I could restart the car after 15 minutes. It started back up and I was able to drive home. The car worked okay for 3 more weeks and then the same thing happened to me again . . . . . And almost caused an accident again. I was able to get the car home, I have parked the car and will no longer use it.
The engine stalled while I was driving on the express way. With no power I coasted (luckily) to the shoulder. The same thing happened to my wife in the same vehicle the previous Monday. It was towed to a mechanics garage where it was diagnosed with a throttle body problem. He cleaned it, test drove it and sent her on her way. Obviously there is still a problem.
Traveling on vacation on an ohio highway when engine stalled and went into limp home mode and yellow wrench light came on. I was able to pull over and had to shut the vehicle completely off. After about 5 minutes I was able to get the car started again. This problem did not reoccur until August 20.
While driving in neighborhood at approx. 15mph, engine stalled and orange wrench light came on. Pulled over to side of street, shut down engine and then restarted. Engine ran fine for another 2 weeks and then same event occured with wife driving. One week later, did same thing while I was driving. Ford dealer has car now and says they are waiting for a throttle body. Car has been in shop for over 1 week so far.
The vehicle lost power while driving at relatively constant speed. The engine hesitated, car did not accelerate when the gas pedal was applied. The engine then stalled. I pulled over, restarted the engine, and the car seem to run normally after this first incident. The vehicle has continued to intermittently have the same issue, although it may need to be restarted a few times before acting normal again. The vehicle was towed because it stalled and seem unable to make the drive home. The engine throttle was cleaned in August by a mechanic, but stalled repeatedly 3 days later. Using dry gas and keeping the tank nearly full has not solved the issue either. My experience seems similar to many complaints found at this website and other places on the internet.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the engine stalled while she drove at 65 mph. The engine warning light illuminated after the failure occurred. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who found that the evaporation canister. The main computer system was reset but the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000 and the current failure mileage was 54,306.
Driving my 2010 Escape on the highway the engine stalled. The speed I was going was about 60 mph. With no prior warning the wrench light and check engine light came on, the rpm's fluctuated between 0500 and 2500 and I could not accelerate the vehicle. The dealer said the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced at my expense as it was not under warranty.
Driving 60mph on highway when Ford Escape bucked, slowed, did not accelerate when gas was applied. Pulled to side of road where engine sputtered and died. Restarted truck, drove another 10 miles when same occurred. This has occurred numerous times over the past two years. I assumed I had bought gas with water in it "bad gas". Several times I have used a product to remove water from the gas, this only works sometimes. I have an appointment with Ford on July 5th, I believe its another problem with the ecoboost engine in my SUV. Ford should recall this engine before a fatality occurs, I have visions of someone plowing into the back of my vehicle while my engine stalls unexpectedly.
