The vehicle stutters and dies upon restart; after being heat soaked from a long drive (highway for a hour). Vehicle throws random codes related to pcm does not do so consistently. Appears to be a problem with wires related to pcm.
Vehicle was in drive and suddenly lost power. The accelerator was pressed but the vehicle stopped driving forward even though the engine was running. The engine did not rev. The dash light indicating the transmission disappeared. The vehicle suddenly jumped into gear so hard I suffered whiplash. It did this several times as I attempted to get clear of heavy traffic. I literally thought I had been rear ended at one point as the car jolted so hard. After getting out of the roadway, the transmission failure service now light came on. This is consistant with the pcm wiring harness recall done on other 2013 Escapes but was not covered for my particular vehicle. The jolts to the vehicle kicking in gear destroyed the transmission. I was in motion at the time, in bumper to bumper traffic. I was lucky not to strike or be hit by another vehicle. I have contacted Ford but they state my car was not covered under that recall and that they will not help me.
Purchased my 2013 Escape del on 4/2014, it's been back to dealership for a total of 32 days since I've owned it. They had to replace at no cost due to recall 13s12 the water pump, long block 1. 6ltr engine, engine indicator asy-oil level,battery,vacuum pump,therm. Assy,staring angle sensor, coolant bypass solenoid, lower standpipe hose. Reprogrammed apim, pcm, icp, rcm. Ford discontinued the 1. 6 engine back 2015 and the sex model. I continually have system issues even after they replaced my engine. I want a different Escape.
