I have a 2004 Ford Escape, in 2012 I paid 336. 90 to have the air bag fixed. In 2014 the air bag light returned, I paid 356. 83 for it to be fixed again. Now I recently paid 99. 95 for a diagnostic fee to be told I need to pay an additional 600 plus to have it fixed. I called Ford who said they can do nothing. I called the dealer where the car was allegedly repaired and they were of no help. This is a major safety problem and I do not have the funds to fix it again and truly believe Ford should fix it and or reimburse me for the costs I have incurred so far. Can you help?.
In 2011, I purchased my used 2006 Ford Escape. About 3 months after purchase, I noticed the passenger side air bag light would activate when an adult would sit in the passenger seat, signifying the air bag was "off" when it should be activated. Today I had my local Ford dealer check the air bag to see if it worked properly. They discovered that not only would the air bag not operate properly in a crash, the seat belt would also fail to lock as it should during a sudden stop or crash. Since there is no recall issued and the vehicle is out of warranty, the cost to repair the seat belt and air bag is all my responsibility. There should be a recall issued for this vehicle and any others known to have this problem. I was told it took a certain number of vehicles to be diagnosed with the same problem before any agency would issue a recall. Even one vehicle with this problem should prompt a recall, because technically, this malfunction could cause serious injury or death in the event of a crash.

Our Ford Escape 2005's airbag light is flashing on the left side of the dashboard. We took the vehicle to a local repair facility and they informed us that the airbags are now disabled, due to this problem, and that the part alone will cost us $1400. 00, plus the cost of the service. After receiving this information, we searched the web and found thousands of complaints just like this about Ford Escapes, ranging from the years 2003-2006. We believe that this is a safety issue and should be covered by Ford as such, but they do not agree. I emailed them about this problem and they told us that you are the agency that governs all such concerns.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford Escape. The contact stated the air bags light illuminates and there was a constant beeping sound in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who ran a diagnostic test and there was a code#b1869 stating the wiring harness for the driver and passenger seats and body harnesses needed to be replaced. This would be an expense of $686 to the contact. The manufacturer was notified who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 86,000.
The air bag light will come on and flash 3 times and then a frlew more times. It will stay on, flash and go off and repete.

My airbag light keeps coming on every time I start my Ford Escape. Upon review of this it's been on complaint websites several times by hundreds of people. How many of these people need to die due to malfunction of the air bags before we have a recall. This light has been on since I've owned the vehicle. Also my window stopped going up. The dipstick can't give a clear reading of the oil amount. These things lead to death, constant and costly repair, and constant problems.

I owned a 2003 Escape and had a head on accident in which the air bags did not go off. Not sure why there has not been a recall one the air bags with so many people having the same problem. Air bag light never came on or gave me any problem.
Air bag light is continually on for many years - feel a safety issue I haven't received a recall notice on the airbags no crash rear inner fender wells rust through on 2004 Ford Escape models according to dealership- manufacturer issue - would like replaced - safety issue my entire family owns Ford vehicles. My father retired from Ford, canton, ohio we have always been proud to be Ford owners.

The manufacturer was called repeatedly but they never returned the call. The failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 16,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated that they repaired the vehicle but the light continued to illuminate. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 94,959.
Purchased 2003 Ford Escape 04/05/08. Air bag light came on a week later returned vehicle for other minor fixes was told light was not important as the bags would not deploy. During oil change on 12/08 told Ford service dept. Again about air bag light same answer. Also inform them about car shaking was told it was because I waited too long for oil change. Took vehicle in for oil change 07/08/09 was refused vehicle told it was dangerous for me to drive found rt front lower balljoint loose in steering knuckle worn out steering knuckle need to replace both lower ball joints and rt front steering knuckle probably cause of why vehicle was shaking and would cost about $1700 and were not sure if extended warranty would cover. They were rude and I broke down. This car has had the shakes since I bought it. I finally took my vehicle home to bring it back the next day. I picked it up on the 15th once Ford stated all repairs were completed vehicle was road tested and engine light was gone except they did nothing for the air bags. This shop is 12. 07 miles from my home approx halfway through the engine light came on and the car started shaking between 45 and 50mph. I called them when I got home gave me another appointment different diagnostic. No one in this shop can tell me if any recalls have been done on this vehicle. I have a handicap daughter who gets her medical care at the veterans administration hospital an hour away. I need a safe vehicle. My family cannot afford another car. These people never give me a straight answer and put down whatever they want on their invoices. This shop is run by a husband and wife team no one cares if my vehicle is safe they just want to make money off of us. Can you please help me find out what has been corrected on my vehicle VIN . Thank you very much.
I have a 03 Ford Escape, and the trouble is endless. The car will not start at times and it is a strong smell of gas when this happens. I have had it in and out of the shop about 6 times and has had the car for only 2 years. The failure to start is scary because you don't know if the car is going to explode or what. The dealership tells me that it is a sensor that goes out and tells the car it doesn't have to start. Been replaced 6 times and the other day it did it again. I hate to go out of town because of the fear of getting stranded on the highway. And another thing the smell of the engine is crazy my daughter has asthma and talking about a problem for her it is. I can go to work and go back 30 minutes later to my car and you can tell that it is still smelling of course where I got it from they told me that it was no concern it was due to the fact of them dropping oil when they did a change, come on people 2 months later. I fear that one day it will explode I just pray to god that my family is not in there. The airbag light will not go off and from reading in here I am scared to death. Something really needs to be done about this problem before some family loses a member.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford Escape. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph and the srs warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the wiring harness was replaced. Most recently, the malfunction recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
Problem: vehicle is beeping warning beeps from cluster area, electrical system. Airbag light/beeper keeps going off, just paid Ford dealer $595. 20 to replace wiring harnesses to both front seats and both body harnesses for code b1869, removed instrument cluster and replaced bad bulb for air bag system, clear all codes and road test 3 miles. I googled this problem with Ford Escapes, seems to be an overall problem with electrical airbag wiring.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Escape. The contact noticed that the air bag warning indicator would constantly illuminate on the instrument panel. The auto shop replaced the seat belt pre-tensioner connectors at the cost of $480. 48. There had been no other failures since the repair. The failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 91,731. Updated 02/24/09. Updated 02/26/09.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. While driving between 25-30 mph on normal road conditions, the air bags deployed without an impact or crash occurring. The driver sustained minor injuries from the moderate force. The air bag warning indicator did not illuminate on the instrument panel. The entire instrument panel, windshield, and steering wheel were damaged. The police was called to the scene and a report was filed. The vehicle was able to be driven to an authorized dealer for inspection, but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified, but did not assist. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time. The failure and current mileages were 111,000.

We had an accident in my 2006 xls Escape, struck a tree . We had our safety belts on and after the impact my boyfriend had cpr on the side of the road where the incident occurred, he was not breathing. Neither front airbags deployed yet the steering wheel was broke nd the wiper unit???the damage to the car was extensive, almost totaling it, the damage was about$9000 dollars. The only reason it was not totaled because the SUV had only 28,500 miles on it and had been very well taken care of and serviced regularly by only Ford technicians. I bought the car for well over 26,000 dollars. The passengers airbag light would always come on if I sat in the passenger's seat. I had it checked out 2 times by Ford, but they could find nothing. I noticed when the light did come on I hd to adjust my seat back and forth then the light went off. I now have it back , a new steering wheel /airbag system had to be replaced along with all the other damages. I have pictures of the SUV with the damages before it was fixed.
Problem with air bag light, take by to dealer on numbers time (5) . Every two weeks for the time of purchase (10/11/2008) can't seem to get it right the dealer stated the bag won't work when need.
Air bag lights go on and off.
Air bag light illuminated continuously indicating that the air bags may not work properly in a collision. Ford dealer performed air bag self test and code b1881 was obtained. I had to have wiring revisions to both seats at a cost of $292. 86. The dealer representative informed me that the wiring revision was necessary because the original wiring under the seats was incapable of accommodating the full range of normal seat adjustments allowed by the electric seat adjustor. This is obviously a manufacturer defect involving a safety feature of the 2002 Ford Escape. Should not the manufacturer have to pay for correcting this safety defect?.
Air bag light comes on and stays on. Dealer says air bags are disabled when the light is on. He wants about $400 to fix the problem. This problem has been reported frequently on the internet.
The air bag light goes on. Some times it will remain on and sometimes it will flash. I had the air bag module replaced ($600) and it was ok for 2 months and started to happen again. The problem went away and has since reappeared. I have searched the internet and found alot of other Escape owners who are having the same issues. I believed that this is a safety issue and should be look at.
In April 2007, I took my 2002 Ford Escape because of constant clicking noise that I heard coming from the left front side of the car for about 3 months. I was told that it was my sway bar end link, but the right side. The left end link had been replaced in April 2006, so I had to pay for the right end link to be replaced. The clicking noise persists. Now, the dealer is saying that it is the right lower control arm that is making the noise and I must have done something to it, even though it is the same noise and started only 2 days after being serviced. Also, the car has stalled twice. The front brake rotors have been replaced twice and needs a third replacement. The transmission has been replaced. The air bag light comes on intermittently and remains on for months at a time; started in 2004. The windows and door locks have been serviced for intermittently not working three times before the problem was resolved.
I own a 2003 Ford Escape up to now I have not had any problems I guess knock on wood I have been lucky. Lately the airbag light started blinking and then it stays on. From reading some of the complaints there might be several reasons as to why this happens. I have read that there are many people having this same problem, maybe Ford should take the first step and recall the vehicles to get this fixed.
For the 5th time while driving under normal conditions, the airbag light flashed and remained on constantly. Took vehicle back to same dealer that has worked on vehicle repeatedly for same airbag problem. Per dealer, perform self test on rcm module koeo b1994. Pinpoint test found and replaced both side air bag connector on harness side. Cleared code and retest ok after repair.
Air bag light came on. It stays on. I was told by the dealer that when this happens the air bags are immediately shut off as there is a error code. This has happened three times before and each time the passenger side pretensioner was replaced. Twice the dealer covered it and the third time the dealer said it was out of warranty and they wouldn't fix it. Seems like if they fixed it right the first time it wouldn't have happened again. Now it has happened again. And once again the dealer said I am on my own. Now I am driving a car with no air bags and I specifically brought it because of the airbags.
Since having my 2002 Ford Escape, I have had ongoing problems with my airbag light staying on. On occasion it goes off, but always comes back on again. The problem began within a few months of purchasing my Escape and took 4+ visits to rectify. The problem resurfaced again last year. I was recently quoted $400. 00 to get this fixed. It seems unreasonable to have to pay so much money to get this fixed when there is a clear pattern of it being a problem with Escapes, and is an issue that is not related to driver recklessness or usage patterns.
My wife is approximately 110 lbs and when she sits in the seat the airbag light goes out. This means that she is an adult in the front seat without the protection of the airbag. She has to bounce up and down to turn the light off. I have communicated with Ford numerous times. They have even supposedly replaced the sensor.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving the air bag light erroneously illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,060 and the current mileage was 130,000.
The airbag light on the dash board flashes as it's supposed to and then remains illuminated. After having the car into the shop they informed me that it's a problem with the circuit and would cost an additional $100 just to move forward and may cost more. After researching the issue it appears that several people have this problem with their Escapes and it fails after being fixed repeatedly.
The air bag light flashes code 46 and stays on, will not go off. Taken it to Ford dealership 3 times does not fix problem. I have researched this issue and it is very widespread problem and should be a recall. This is definitely a safety issue! please do a recall on this problem!!!.
